Let them, solar fucking sucks for large scale energy protection. It's great for low voltage remote stuff. Things that can run for dozens of hours on a battery charge that has a little solar cell topping it off and allows it to run for years with no hook up. Ranch gates are a great example of this.

But covering the earth with cells like that, destroying whatever habitat was there to produce a fraction of the power a nuclear plant can, is the exact opposite of "Green".

Plus those cells are not recycable, wear out a lot faster than they'll tell you in direct constant sunlight, and turn a lot of important materials into landfill, like silver. And they still need a lot of water to keep them clean to keep up efficiency.

Just because China subsidizes their manufacturing to make a lot of shit cheap, doesn't mean they are good.

Honestly the dream energy matrix is probably a mix of :

• Solar and wind for low density housing, rural areas, etc and a solar mirror system heating up a steam plant or heating your house and it's water system is the best solution for using solar power
• Nuclear and hydropower for everything else, including small modular reactors you could probably just spam in a large datacenter or factory for 20 million a piece
• Natural gas and hydrogen for transportation, and for heating steel mills and aluminum plants and chemical factories
• Raising the frozen nuclear and fusion budget above the 1980s levels that were frozen due to greenpeace protests and three mile island and chernobyl to finally start to see some progress, if you crack fusion power, you get nearly unlimited power for almost no cost, you can fix any problem by just throwing energy at it, even if fusion doesnt show up, the 4th and 5th gen nuclear powerplants will fix 90% of the current nuclear power issues like using weaponizable materials and the radioactive waste storage problem.

This is as true for us as it is for them. We probably have no idea of the true extent of Chinese subterfuge or strategic planning, not to mention potential enemies who may throw their lot in with the Chinese if push actually comes to shove. The PLA is approaching complete regional supremacy both quantitatively and qualitatively. All the PLA will have to do is prevent the US Navy from interfering with any landing and prevent any force from reinforcing the island. They will want to present the world with a fait accompli and not muster to defend Taiwan. I hope the MIC can kick into a higher gear because it looks pretty bleak as is.

Chinese are sneaky, but they aren't particularly adept, and they don't have the century of spycraft experience behind them that even the Russians or Musselmen could lay claim to.
