Iran Crisis & the 2026 War between Iran and the United States, Gulf States, and Israel - Please focus on news and coverage, not argumentation.

Hasn't Trump implied he thinks Iran had a hand in trying to assassinate him? All other things considered he might also get a personal sense of satisfaction out of bombing the IRGC.

When it comes to boots on the ground, IMO it makes sense for that to be the israelis, as they stand to gain the immediate most from a regime change in Iran.
US ground forces are not in the cards right now. I brought them up in the context of the hypothetical of Iran trying to sink the Gerald Ford transiting suez. If Iran did that, never mind police actions. Trump would go to Congress and ask for a formal Declaration of War. And he would get it too.

In the current scenario, what is about to go down wont be quite so existential, but there is a scenario in which I see the US Marines landing at Bandar Abbas to secure a beach head and allow for the Iranian Shah to return to Iranian soil. This scenario would be less kinetic then a declared war.

People forget that Trump likes ballsy military moves that kill a lot of enemy leadership. I am looking forward to whatever they have cooked up.

I'd never have expected you to run taqiyya for the Ayatolahs. ☪️They're an entrenched authoritarian regime, of course they've killed some protestors, just not at the exaggerated scale the Holden Bloodfeasts claim.
Holden Bloodfeast yearned for Iranian blood, the Mullahs gave him a sacrifice

I guess let me posit this to you:
Iraq in 2003 fell to the US in 4 weeks. That was a country that granted had 1/3 the population of Iran but didn't have active protests several times a decade. If the US was going to go Regime Change Hard on Iran, whichis already roiling with internal descent, how long do you think Tehran holds out?

The only real issue is what would happen after the Iranian government implodes as you touch on. And that's why there is the footdragging.
The current troop build-up just isn't there.

Let's say the false flag nightmare scenario happens and a carrier is sunk. There'd be months of build-up as ground units are brought into the theatre before the invasion. It's possible but it's not happening yet.

IT removes a regional ally and grey-market handover zone, and a coutnry that sells them both resources in exchange for military hardware.
If things go maximum hilarity and we get US bases in Iran, this is a huge issue for China who now has to defend their west but especially Russia.
one of the indirect bonuses of this as well is that one of the "marketing points" China and Russia sell themselves with to the turd world is the notion that they'll arm the countries to defend themselves against western imperialism.

With Venezuela and soon with Iran, as the US just rolls over the hardware the Chinks and the Ruskies have armed them with, we show other would-be-allies of China and Russia that the "defense" they offer is snake oil and will do nothing to protect them. Weakening Chinese and Russian leverage and bargaining power.

Additionally, re-tasking or length of missions can require carrier-based aircraft to return to air tankers multiple times before continuing.
This is why I was saying operating from the Mediterranean makes sense.
To have Iran fall within 6 moths of Venezuela would be lightning fast.
I don't think the two are related, and Iran has been "the bad guy" for a few years now. I don't believe there had been any build up toward nuclear weapons, or that they have been secretly funding every single terrorist group in the region.
We shouldn't be getting involved, I can't think of a time that the US getting involved has made things better, but it sure looks like we're getting involved. Guessing by the staging, soon.

Can someone tell me what the fuck is the point of US bases in Saudi, Qatar and UAE if we're not allowed to use them for landbased aircraft?

The monarchists overestimate their support base. Ethnic minorities prefer Khamenei over Pahlavi. Azeris, Balochis and Kurds will attempt to secede from Iran if Pahlavi gets any control

Pahlavi suppoters want to replace shia theocracy with persian ultra nationlism it will inspire minorities to be more nationalistic every minoritiy will demand their own fiefdom

We’re seeing this in Syria with the Druze, who declared independence from Jolani’s regime after Assad lost power. The Tehran government has flaws but they’re the only thing preventing Iran from entering chaos

A ground war in Iran will destroy America completely
In what fucking parallel universe?

Like I understand and agree "yeah a ground war in Iran would be dumb and a waste of time and money" but lmao what's the logical procession of events that results in the destruction of the U

They are big targets,
This only applies to nations with fighter aircraft capable of actually breaking through a fighter screen and firing a beyond-visual-range missile at the tanker aircraft.

This would be a concern with China and the J-20 + PL-17 combo but outside of that it would take a miracle for anything in Iran's arsenal to pull off.

I agree with the rest of your post, but tankers would be operating so far back behind the "line" that if any non-stealth fighter gets within firing range of that thing then you have much worse problems and the whole mission is already fucked.

What are you talking about? The Iranian Royal family is Azeri to the point there's film of Reza Shah speaking to Atatürk in Azeri Turkish

All the Iranians I know just want total arab death, that includes Azeris, Kurds, and a Lor (Persianized Kurds)

Kurds and Balochs have already been trying, and failing, to secede from Iran for decades (slightly over a century for the Kurds, if you count the Turkish-backed tribal revolts around WW1). Islamist or monarchist, the flavor of gov't doesn't really matter (if anything, Balochs in particular are Sunni-inclined and so really haven't had much reason to like the Shiite Islamist gov't by default, while the Kurdish secessionists tend to be commie types and so have little regard for religion & theocracies of any kind) since they're just after their own ethnostate.

Also military-wise, only Azeris/Azerbaijan can be considered a real threat. The Kurds are insanely overhyped and keep getting folded like lawn chairs by their state enemies when they don't have a patron like Uncle Sam backing them up, the most recent examples being 2017 Iraq and just now in Syria where AJ's Islamists buckbroke them in 2 weeks, first punting them out of neighborhoods in Aleppo which they had held for pretty much the whole Syrian Civil War previously & then routing them out of 80% of their territory with hilarious ease. The Balochs have obviously been pretty unsuccessful at seceding from Iran for a while now and would further have to immediately contend with Pakistan, which has also been fighting to keep its own Baloch populace down, even if they were to miraculously succeed tomorrow.

The Druze in Syria aren't a great example either, they're ridiculously incompetent to the point where they were constantly losing battles even with Israeli air support (hence the Syrian Islamist gov't still holding half of Suwayda Governorate to this day) and ended up begging to allow the same government army the IAF bombed back into their province to keep a horde of Bedouin light infantry with, at best, technicals & AKs (so not even said gov't army) from raping them to death, which was the second-most embarrassing thing I've ever seen out of the entire Syrian Civil War after the disintegration of the SAA in November-December 2024 (speaking as an observer from 2011 onward). In more recent months they've lost their prospective Kurdish allies due to the aforementioned rape of the latter by AJ's forces & got bombed by Jordan for drug smuggling while Israel didn't give a shit. They're blatantly an Israeli puppet and a very weak, disposable one at that, if Jerusalem were to stop supporting them for any reason they'd 1000% get folded like a cheap suit.

Suffice to say if this is the caliber of ethnic separatist opposition Pahlavi has to worry about, they are definitely going to be pretty far down his list of concerning priorities in the event that he actually manages to take back the Sun Throne.

As they say in NASCAR: Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.

GM wins? GM sales spike. Ford wins? Likewise.

Same thing here.

And Raytheon & Lockmarket are about to have a big, big sales day come Monday.

(Monday being relative, I don't mean necessarily 2/23/26)

theyve been protesting over the last few days as the 40 days end, no deaths yet
You and I are reading different news (somehow). There are deaths they just aren't as blatant.

The more interesting thing is that after "operation bomb Iran" is over, and assuming that the Shah returns (or someone who isn't the regime - although let's be honest, the shah's the only person that has the clout in Iran and outside Iran to actually lead Iran). I wonder who will " pick up the mantle of Palestine". Because right now the contenders seem to be: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Algeria. And what's even more interesting is that there's only so far that Turkey can go (it being a NATO nation), Saudi Arabia has really nothing going for it besides Mecca and Medina. And Algeria is in North Africa. We might FINALLY be seeing the end of some Palestinian state.

Realistically besides ethnically cleansing the region, the best the Palestinians could ever hope for is something similar to the Kurdish autonomous region in Iraq.

But if I were Turkey I would be very careful, because if the Israelis are able to throw their weight around enough in both Lebanon and Iran, how much weight do you think they could throw around amongst the Kurds? My gut says a lot. My gut also says that if Turkey tries to pull a funny, Then the Israelis would just recognize an independent Kurdistan, or realistically start arming the Kurds and giving them better Intel equipment, And training in the United States ever could. Because unlike the United States, Israel has done far more with far little and has its roots in a a Independence movement that is more aligned to the Kurdish people, then our Independence with the British.

I'm not trying to hype the curds up like some fucking redditor, however, an aligned Kurdish militant group can do a lot to fuck over the Turkish government, especially in the East. And force a realignment in Turkish popular thinking. Remember we could have defeated the Taliban 400 times over. We just lost the will to fight . Look at our pull out of Afghanistan as a perfect example .All you need is a pro-israeli leader in Turkey and Hamas stops being tolerated. Remember despite all the retarded words Israel and turkey still have relations. They both have open embassies, and they both engage in trade. It's just that Israel is the superior partner here because it has an economy that actually works.

I just said that so I don't see what the issue is.
Any invasion of Iran, at current, is going to be using the Iranians as the ground forces so there's no need to move ground assets.

Iran simply put lacks the ability to do harm to an alert US CSG unless the US commander is Black Sea Fleet levels of incompetent.

Can someone tell me what the fuck is the point of US bases in Saudi, Qatar and UAE if we're not allowed to use them for landbased aircraft?
We can use them for logistics. We can't launch strikes on Iran from them because the steadfastness of our Middle Eastern allies is only surpassed by our European ones, but we can land and service craft on them before rebasing. We can store munitions and personnel. The bases also act as alternate/recovery bases incase strike craft have problems.

Additionally at some point in the future if IT HAPPENS we have bases and infrastructure there.

The monarchists overestimate their support base. Ethnic minorities prefer Khamenei over Pahlavi. Azeris, Balochis and Kurds will attempt to secede from Iran if Pahlavi gets any control
I think you are correct, partly. But you're also underestimating the Shah's support.

I don't think, at this moment, the Shah-bros are misjudging anything. No one likes the mullahs except the IRGC and the ineptness of their corruption is become apparent even to their natural allies. The Shah is a rallying figure.
Being they are all sand niggers they haven't thought through what comes after. And I think you've covered what happens if the Shah takes power: the Kurds will want a Kurdistan, the Azeris will start wildin' especially with a resurgent Turkish-backed Azerbaijan, and Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan - or at least their border minorities - are goign to start aggitating for new borders or at least more unification of their ethnic enclaves.

But I've posted in this thread before: right now that's all he is. A figure. He doesn't have any generals, or even Colonels, defecting and pledging themselves to his cause. No Brigadiers are ordering their troops to join the potestors. Not a single governor, mayor, or head of government agency has defected and offered to join the shadow government.
He has the support of the people, but no method to turn that support into any sort of governance, and no method to retain power once the mobs decide they aren't happy that he hasn't magically fixed everything.
Maybe that will change when the bombs start falling.

Going back to the minorities:
Your point about the Druze is apples to oranges. The Druze have been getting induced by Mossad for.... well, ever but heavily since the civil war started. They would not be trying to split if the Eternal Jew wasn't in their ear offering them support and safe haven. Israel is doing this because they want to leverage the moment to either annex territory or at the very least create a friendly Druze state to buffer them with Syria. They haven't forgotten nearly 80 years of Syria being one of the top Anti-Israel agitators.

I'll disagree with you on the Kurds; in Iraq the Kurds have been happy to accept State-within-a-state status given inducements (i.e. oil revenue) and assurances from the US. I can see the Kurds in Iran likewise being bought off cheaply, especially given they can see how well its worked for their Iraqi cousins.

I'll also challenge you on the Azeris; potentially.
The Azeris are going to whatever Turkey wants them to do. And right now, Turkey has taken the tack "What is bad for Iran is good for Israel so we need to stop that", so I think Turkey tells Azerbaijan that their people better sit still and shut up, and they will. But that's subject to change based on E-dog's whims. He might very well decide if the Ayatollah has fallen, Monarchist Iran is more likely to be an Israeli ally and thus take the Azeris off the chain.

In what fucking parallel universe?

He multipolaring until he BROOOCS.Russia is utterly depleting itself in Ukraine to the point of its sphere imploding and Russia is helpless to do anything about it. Due to retards brainwashing him (or his handlers paying him), he is assuming the US is just as ratfucking stupid as his gay crush Putin. He is no-gag-reflex swallowing useful idiot stories from Kremlin agents on /pol/ about how much Iraq/Afghanistan harmed US force readiness.

Basically the side that let Syria and now Venezuela and soon Iran collapse because of utter inability is trying to claim that's the same as the US opting to simply accelerate its pull out of Afghanistan and not bail out the inept and corrupt regime.

Is there any solid reason that those freighter planes from china over the last few weeks could not have a hypersonic with a ribbon and a bow on them as a present for Iran to use? Russia passing one to Iran via china isn’t impossible.

Turkey also oversells its beef with Israel a lot. They do this to generate clout with Arabs so that they can become the Arab's Turkish overlords again. I don't see them going that fucking retarded.

But its hard to say; E-dog has been making some really unwise moves trying to raise Turkey's global prestige and might be getting high on his own supply and starting to believe his own bullshit. He could easily go full retard and do it.

Is there any solid reason that those freighter planes from china over the last few weeks could not have a hypersonic with a ribbon and a bow on them as a present for Iran to use? Russia passing one to Iran via china isn’t impossible.
First, Say it with me: Ballistic Missile.
Russia does not have true "hypersonics", they have ballistic missiles with a PR department. Putting that asside, the Kh-47 also has dogshit targeting and guidance with a CEP measured in kilometers - this is fine for trying to lob them intocities and kill random civilians, trying to sink a carrier ready for hostile action and.doing evasive maneuvers is a pipe dream.

Second, missiles don't just vaporize into nothing. Parts and components are left behind, and god fobid US-backed forces take illegally transferred missiles intact. If those missiles were traced back to China or Russia, it would be effectively an act of war, and China and/or Russia would thus have to supplicate to the US for it not be treated as such. Not to mention all the naughty, strongly worded letters from the UN.

The odds of the CCP doing this for Iran is virtually nil, the odds of Russia giving the Euros even more reason to be buttmad them is extremely unlikely; All thoseEU parties giving lipservice to Moscow's talking points will now be radioactive toxic unless they immediately drop all support for Russia after such a transfer was discovered. And Russia is in no shape to take that sort of hit.
That's the kind of thing that would actually get Europe to stop buying oil and gas from Russia - like for real, not just saying they'll do it and then importing another 100 billion dollars worth.

The thing people don't seem to realize, and especially leftists don't ever realize, is that Israel is in many ways closer to South Korea in terms of economy and military power. It just so happens that Israel is also surrounded by a fuck ton of North Korea's that can barely feed themselves, let alone go to war.
