Surprise entry: early Eurythmics were often verging on ambient/synth/goth. As a rivethead I am not too proud to admit that ‘In the garden’ and ‘1984’ had some absolute bangers. If you listen to the whole albums you can hear influences from Bowie, Siouxsie Sioux, Joy Division and Bauhaus.

Early Eurythmics were on the cutting edge of all the sub genres of that era including post punk, with synth, into new wave, definitely some goth & other underground elements. So nice to see so many tracks from In The Garden, their masterpiece, imo, with my favorite track from it being Belinda:

The way Annie sings the outro is truly amazing. There was no autotune, she pulled it off live, easily, too, as can be seen when the Eurythmics performed Belinda on the Old Grey Whistle Test. This track still gets play at goth clubs, with of course the later, dancy stuff that you’d hear at any 80’s night.

Days of Sorrow are a local band I bought a vinyl from some 25 years ago. Not widely known, probably not even within the goth scene.

Their records are rare, with discogs listings ranging in the three digits. The band used to be active in the 80s and has made a comeback a few years ago on YouTube with a few new songs. Just linking to their YT page here.
