Why not do a golden helmet with long bond hair flowing out? Comic MLW would scream to me more of a Valkyrie kind of design to me. You don't even have to draw wings, but I was thinking, what if you gave her grey angel wings, sort establishing that she isn't good(at least to Chris she isn't) but establish he as someone who tried to help Chris. Maybe as an added twist, she has horns as a part of her head, but her helmet has holes that they can fit through. I was thinking it would work something like Angelina Jolie's Maleficent character: It looks like the horns are just part of the headwear, but in actuality they are part of her head. Maybe it could be like some kind of "one winged angel" form for her.
I don't know, this seems a little too convoluted for something that honestly wouldn't add too much to the character or story. I think I might've found a simpler way to incorporate the helmet, actually. I've been reading up on some stuff and apparently the incident where MLW first tore up Chris' sign IRL was in mid-October 2003. The viking helmet could be part of a costume for a Halloween party that she was going to when she found Chris with his sign, and the resulting traumatic event led him to fixate on the helmet.
I don't know, maybe that's just as convoluted, but I think it works well with what I've got planned for MLW so far.
This series reminds me of an old comic book series titled "Webslingers: Tales of Spider-Man," where the author'd revisit old Spider-Man stories and tell themm from a different angle, adding a bit of a psychoanalitic flair. I love how your changes are mostly very subtle, yet add so much more to the Sonichu Saga Chris could ever have mustered. I'm impressed.
Oh goodness, I don't know if I'd compare myself to pro comic artists/writers, but I appreciate it, and I'm glad you like it so far. It's been a while since I read Spiderman, actually. Maybe I should look that book up...
I like that there isn't the insta-lust between Sonichu and Rosechu, at least on Rosechu's end, and I like that you're putting an emphasis on her just being glad that she's not alone anymore. That's something that Chris never really touched on that could have really been easily turned into small to major plot points, especially later on when all of the other sonichus and rosechus start coming out of the woodwork. I always kind of wondered why nobody in the series ever got slightly depressed that they weren't some uber-special oddity anymore and thus not the center of attention, and then felt guilty because they really didn't want to go back to the alternative of being the only one of their kind.
I don't know, I think most of the electric hedgehog pokemon (at least as far as the main cast go) are different enough in personality and ability that they could take comfort in not being alone while being secure in their own identity. Though, if the Sonee and Rosey evolution chart is true, it's technically possible for there to be more than one Punchy or more than one Wild. I think they might get depressed if clones of them just started popping up, if they don't get hit with a crippling existential crisis first.
It's been interesting to watch the MLW discussion above. I've run into something of a Mary Lee dilemma when sketching out the plot for my Sonichu wrestling fic.
Obviously she's a big part of the original canon, so for something based closely off of that, like Rosechu's Story, she's going to be pretty necessary.
However, for a story like mine that's already changed settings and characters, there's a part of me inclined to leave her out.
Chris' work contains many characters based on real people. MLW is rare amongst these in that she a) didn't insert herself into Chris' world by choice, reacting to a disruptive student in the course of her job; and b) asked Chris at least once to stop drawing her.
There's an argument that the genie is out of the bottle, and regardless of whether I use an MLW, Googling her name will always give pages of Sonichu fan art and Chris' own soul-scarring Rule 34. I dunno. I'd love to hear if anyone else struggled with this, and what they decided.
I suppose I never really thought about what IRL MLW would think about it. I always assumed that she didn't want anything to do with any of this, even to the point where she won't even bother to ask to have her likeness be removed from the comics or any fan creations. I just hope that all of this hasn't affected her in any bad way, she wouldn't deserve that.
In the end, you should do what you feel is right. If you think you'll regret adding her in, then maybe you shouldn't.
I asked blank the same question but have you ever done any other online comics other then this one?
Well, yes and no. I did work on a couple of webcomics before this one, but they're 1) stupid 2) a decade old and 3) sort of lost. Seriously, I'd be too embarrassed to show them off, even if I still had them lying around, and the world is likely better off without them.
Are the Chaotic Combo going to actually be Chaotic? Like they have wildly varying personalities and their fighting styles leaves a lot of collateral damage. That is a way I can see of making their name make sense without breaking canon.
I think so, or at the very least I'm going to try to give them enough personality to set themselves apart from each other. I don't know that I'll have the occasion to have them all fighting in the same place more than maybe once, though, and that's a very long way off.
ORIGINAL IDEA DO NOT STEAL!
(couldn't resist <3)
