Sonichu [Fan Comic] Rosechu's Story - A reimagining of the Sonichu story from Rosechu's perspective.

Why not do a golden helmet with long bond hair flowing out? Comic MLW would scream to me more of a Valkyrie kind of design to me. You don't even have to draw wings, but I was thinking, what if you gave her grey angel wings, sort establishing that she isn't good(at least to Chris she isn't) but establish he as someone who tried to help Chris. Maybe as an added twist, she has horns as a part of her head, but her helmet has holes that they can fit through. I was thinking it would work something like Angelina Jolie's Maleficent character: It looks like the horns are just part of the headwear, but in actuality they are part of her head. Maybe it could be like some kind of "one winged angel" form for her.

I don't know, this seems a little too convoluted for something that honestly wouldn't add too much to the character or story. I think I might've found a simpler way to incorporate the helmet, actually. I've been reading up on some stuff and apparently the incident where MLW first tore up Chris' sign IRL was in mid-October 2003. The viking helmet could be part of a costume for a Halloween party that she was going to when she found Chris with his sign, and the resulting traumatic event led him to fixate on the helmet.

I don't know, maybe that's just as convoluted, but I think it works well with what I've got planned for MLW so far.

This series reminds me of an old comic book series titled "Webslingers: Tales of Spider-Man," where the author'd revisit old Spider-Man stories and tell themm from a different angle, adding a bit of a psychoanalitic flair. I love how your changes are mostly very subtle, yet add so much more to the Sonichu Saga Chris could ever have mustered. I'm impressed.

Oh goodness, I don't know if I'd compare myself to pro comic artists/writers, but I appreciate it, and I'm glad you like it so far. It's been a while since I read Spiderman, actually. Maybe I should look that book up...

I like that there isn't the insta-lust between Sonichu and Rosechu, at least on Rosechu's end, and I like that you're putting an emphasis on her just being glad that she's not alone anymore. That's something that Chris never really touched on that could have really been easily turned into small to major plot points, especially later on when all of the other sonichus and rosechus start coming out of the woodwork. I always kind of wondered why nobody in the series ever got slightly depressed that they weren't some uber-special oddity anymore and thus not the center of attention, and then felt guilty because they really didn't want to go back to the alternative of being the only one of their kind.

I don't know, I think most of the electric hedgehog pokemon (at least as far as the main cast go) are different enough in personality and ability that they could take comfort in not being alone while being secure in their own identity. Though, if the Sonee and Rosey evolution chart is true, it's technically possible for there to be more than one Punchy or more than one Wild. I think they might get depressed if clones of them just started popping up, if they don't get hit with a crippling existential crisis first.

It's been interesting to watch the MLW discussion above. I've run into something of a Mary Lee dilemma when sketching out the plot for my Sonichu wrestling fic.
Obviously she's a big part of the original canon, so for something based closely off of that, like Rosechu's Story, she's going to be pretty necessary.
However, for a story like mine that's already changed settings and characters, there's a part of me inclined to leave her out.
Chris' work contains many characters based on real people. MLW is rare amongst these in that she a) didn't insert herself into Chris' world by choice, reacting to a disruptive student in the course of her job; and b) asked Chris at least once to stop drawing her.
There's an argument that the genie is out of the bottle, and regardless of whether I use an MLW, Googling her name will always give pages of Sonichu fan art and Chris' own soul-scarring Rule 34. I dunno. I'd love to hear if anyone else struggled with this, and what they decided.

I suppose I never really thought about what IRL MLW would think about it. I always assumed that she didn't want anything to do with any of this, even to the point where she won't even bother to ask to have her likeness be removed from the comics or any fan creations. I just hope that all of this hasn't affected her in any bad way, she wouldn't deserve that.

In the end, you should do what you feel is right. If you think you'll regret adding her in, then maybe you shouldn't.

I asked blank the same question but have you ever done any other online comics other then this one? :)

Well, yes and no. I did work on a couple of webcomics before this one, but they're 1) stupid 2) a decade old and 3) sort of lost. Seriously, I'd be too embarrassed to show them off, even if I still had them lying around, and the world is likely better off without them.

Are the Chaotic Combo going to actually be Chaotic? Like they have wildly varying personalities and their fighting styles leaves a lot of collateral damage. That is a way I can see of making their name make sense without breaking canon.

I think so, or at the very least I'm going to try to give them enough personality to set themselves apart from each other. I don't know that I'll have the occasion to have them all fighting in the same place more than maybe once, though, and that's a very long way off.

ORIGINAL IDEA DO NOT STEAL!

(couldn't resist <3)

EDIT: That's not mine, btw, credit goes here.

Or they pull a Sylar and kill everyone else so that they can be the most special of them all.

Decided a quick sketch inspired by @_blank_ 's Attack on Titan pic.

Tomorrow's page might be unfinished, mostly because I'm having a hard time with a few things on this one for some reason. Hopefully this will have loosened me up a bit.

Well, nowhere NEAR finished, but at least the sketch is done. That last panel was giving me hell. Who knew that drawing Sonic colliding with a pikachu would give me so much trouble...?

Finished version to come soon, promise!

Don't care, still loved it.

Kel is shaping up to be the best character due to her trollish nature.

Oh Kel....

And wait... Rosechu is pushing Sonichu around (at least to a table)? Egads! Someone better tell Chris!

Seriously though, liking it- and yeah- panels like the last one can be a massive pain. I think you just about got it though. :)

I like how instead of Chris making the two 'chus immediately fall head over sneakers for each other, it's Kel trying to play matchmaker like she's a mother who tries meddling too much in her kid's life. Though Rosechu looks excited, and perhaps maybe a little attracted to Sonichu. Are you planning on having this progress into a romantic relationship up the road while progressing more naturally than how Chris made it happen? I could imagine something might happen that makes them realize the relationship wouldn't work out, like say, realizing they aren't the only members of their species/ have traits that are at odds with each other/ just realize it wasn't what they hoped/etc. ?

Kel confirmed as troll lol(and I mean that in the good way)

Chris would be so pissed....xD

While Kel is actually having a bit of fun at her expense here, she also kind of has a motive for it too. She'll be making her intentions clear here in the next few pages. I don't know if Chris would see this as trolling, though. I don't know, something just tells me it'd be too subtle for him to get.

Was there some specific reference to Rosechu pushing Sonichu around that I missed? I'm not sure I understand. :P

kel is amazing

@Anonimo: oh my god what if this started out being a rewrite of sonichu but then it goes in a different direction and sonichu and rosechu each hook up with someone in the chaotic combo

Sonichu and Rosechu's relationship is going to take some interesting turns, but I'm not planning on having them hook up with anyone else, at least not in the span of the story I'm making now.

For the most part, if it wildly conflicts with the original Sonichu comic, I wouldn't count on it being in mine. That doesn't mean you shouldn't expect a few surprises, but for the most part I only want to change minor things like wording and inflection, as well as filling in the spaces that the original comic skips over. I would only change something major if I had a really good reason for it, or if the story wouldn't make sense without changing it.

So does this mean we are (hopefully) going through most of the Sonichu storyline from Rosechu's perspective? Are there any bits that you might end up skipping it only mentioning in passing detail since they may not be completely relevant to the story?

And once you run out of story with Sonichu and Chris from the main continuity, should we expect it to diverge towards the Liquid plot thread from the prologue?

Oh goodness, let's see...

Most of the focus so far has been on Issue 0, and that's going to get a lot of attention for sure, at least for the first two episodes. I know I'll be more or less glossing over the more important events in Issues 1 and 2. I'm not entirely certain what I'll be doing for Issue 3, but I've got a few ideas, so we might see some focus there. Issue 4 is probably going to be completely ignored except for possibly introducing Crystal. Seriously, all the sub-episodes are basically the same story, and no one wants to see it depicted over and over.

I've got one or two things planned for Issue 5, but not much, and they'll continue into Issue 6's story. The latter half of Issue 7 will be focused on quite a bit (although the events of the first half of the issue will become important soon) which will carry into a heavier focus into the events directly before and after Issue 8. Issue 9 will have a lot of significance too, focusing mostly on Episode 20, and leading into the climax in Issue 10 and some of the events directly after. That is, if I haven't turned into a brittle old lady by then.

A lot of the comic will also focus on the spaces between the canon as well, like what Rosechu's up to in between the major plot points in Chris' comic, etc.

And once you run out of story with Sonichu and Chris from the main continuity, should we expect it to diverge towards the Liquid plot thread from the prologue?

I don't plan on going any farther than the main continuity. At that point, Rosechu will have reached the end of her character arc, and to be honest, it wouldn't feel right to just keep going. Besides, if by some miracle I do make it to the end of the story, I'm going to be so tired of drawing this comic that I won't even want to look at it anymore. I have a LONG way to go before I can even think about going beyond what I've got planned.

However, you might be happy to know that Liquid will be making an appearance a lot sooner than you think he will. :tomgirl:

Just meaning when Rosechu escorted Sonichu to the table, Chris wouldn't have done it that way. He'd probably have her act like a maid or something for the benefit of Sonichu. Of course, in his comic in this instance, the two pretty much locked eyes once and now they're eternally in love. Cuz that's how love works, donchaknow?

Romance in the Sonichu comic is basically what trainer battles are in the Pokemon games. As soon as they lock eyes, something is going to happen. Heck, they don't even have to lock eyes, since a character can just walk in front of another one, then suddenly we get "!" and something happens just like that

And most importantly: YOU CANNOT RUN AWAY.
