Yes, Chris was almost certainly manipulated into doing it, he didn't find whatever that one creepy book about senior sex on his own after all, but he still did it. Plus, what Edmund says only applies to convicted sex offenders - Chris freely admitted he actually did the deed at first and only changed his story once he understood he couldn't possibly spin the story in his favor no matter how hard he tried. It's actually an even graver problem that Chris spent two years in jail and wasn't judged innocent or guilty.
I don't think he was manipulated into doing it at all. Janke and Fiona had no idea until after he told them.
I think this is similar to that one black guy who briefly tried to help out Chris when he got out of jail. (OtakuKing?) Edmund isn't a Christorian I assume. He probably thinks Chris is just some quirky guy who's been manipulated by the Internet and/or his mother and not a pervert.
Yeah, most people with surface level knowledge of Chris just see him as a victim of harassment. There's also a ton of misinformation surrounding Chris's incest arrest unfortunately, with many people believing Bella manipulated Chris into fucking his mom or thinking he fucked his mom, despite the evidence that she too was caught off guard from the phone call.
Edmund is the guy behind The Binding of Issac and those associated games. He straight up was going to work with Chris on the TBOI card game with a Chris-designed card right before Chris fucked his mother and those plans were quickly dashed.
Edmund recently released his new game Mewgenics. It's about breeding cats. The cats have meows that were recorded by various Internet celebrities, with Chris being one of them. GenoSamuel also recorded a meow. Chris also received a pre-release goodie bag for the game.
Edmund has been "a fan of Chris for a very long time", and it's precisely the reason why he defended Chris as he did. Edmund no doubt has a lot of fond memories of Classic Chris (registered trademark), that lovable loser who went on wacky troll adventures and drew bizarre comic books, and he doesn't want those fond memories tainted by the fact that said lovable loser turned out to be a degenerate mother rapist. Same reason why people still defend Michael Jackson.
Honestly, if he'd just said that Chris is/was a funny retard and that's why he kept him in the game, I wouldn't bat an eye. That being said, I think Edmund's a coward for not including Null. He made a big show about how edgy and cool he is for including people who have been cancelled, but then didn't include one of the most influential cancelled online figures. He may as well have made the cast exclusively troons if he wasn't going to include Null.
