If we're talking about the films in the 90's, hard to say. As toned down the MK film was, it was still a passable adaptation and fun film. SF is a bad film but in the fun kind of way that makes it more memorable with Raul Julia playing it straight and Andrew Bryniaski being an unsung great as Zangief.

If we're talking animation, Street Fighter fucking stomps. Mortal Kombat: Defenders Of The Realm is technically better than the Street Fighter animated series, but M. Bison is unintentionally hilarious. All of the SF animated films are good to great, while MK has that one Scorpion animated film that's okay and the shitty 90's film that was more an ad for the film.

If we're talking the films since Y2K, technically SF has the better one. Yes, both series' attempts at returning to the silver screen sucked with Legend of Chun Li being extra shit, but the forgotten Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist film is honestly not that bad. Nothing special, but not bad for fans

SF is for the gay kids who want to be Poison. The only SF anything that ever mattered was the first movie (and maybe the cartoon). The games are pure astroturf.
New MK movie is about Johnny Cage. Nuff said.

I like the actor lined up to play Johnny Cage in the upcoming MK movie. Karl Urban played Caesar in the Xena: Warrior Princess series & seems like a decent fit for the character. I love the 90’s Mortal Kombat movie with the early techno soundtrack & the cheesy Johnny Cage VS Prince Goro match.

Now talking games, Street Fighter for SNES was fun. E Honda is a fun character, MK was an awesome game with a story mode that was cool too. OP asks a pretty hard question because both series have appeal, but overall it’s gotta be Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat. Both film and movie.

The later games like Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon were some of the best with their story modes. Deception in particular was very good. For some reason people really shit on Armageddon but it really was cool that you had every character from the series (up to that point) in one game. Plus it's the only game that has a create-a-character.

Nowadays the games are meh. Storylines are still pretty good and guest characters are usually okay, but I'd rather just play Deception or Armageddon again.

The film has a lot going for it.

Casting: One of the highlights. Just about everyone is memorable in their role. Robin Shou is the perfect Liu Kang and looks great. Same with Linden Ashby. Christopher Lambert as Raiden oddly works.

The fights are awesome. I particularly like the Cage vs Scorpion fight where Cage does his Friendship at the end.

We don't speak about the sequel though. It's a real shitshow. They introduce Baraka who looks like some dude in a Halloween costume. No more Lambert, Raiden is now James Remar, who is a good actor, but it fundamentally changes the character. They kill Cage instantly (I believe this is because Ashby didn't want to come back). There is a weird scene where they specifically mention Stryker and Rain but they never show up in the film. The cyber ninjas were kinda cool though.

They did start filming a third film, but Katrina happened and all the film they had shot was destroyed, thus we were spared.

Street Fighter Alpha ovas were nice, also I got a cel of Dan from that, and really there's not a hell of a lot of cels of Dan Hibiki from anything

Anytime I talk about the SF movie I say this exact same thing. Raul Julia was fucking amazing. A truly GOAT actor.

This is actually game lore.
In MK3 which was the one that Annihilation is based on, the actor who played Cage in the games quit his job and they couldn't find a lookalike in time so they didn't include him.
Funny that this is the reason.

ACKSHULLY, they mention Stryker and Kabal getting killed.
Rain is there standing around in the big villain room.
He reports that he himself murdered Kabal and Stryker.
Shao Khan then asks him if he made them beg for their lives, he doesn't confirm so Shao Khan HITS HIM WITH A GIANT FUCKING HAMMER AND DROPS HIM INTO A PIT OF FIRE!!!
A simple HR complaint would suffice, I think.

I know Darth Maul is Terry Bogart.
One day, I will watch all the vidya martial arts movies and decide which one is the absolute worst.
