Is the monkey Obama thing really that big of a controversy? I don’t see anyone who matters actually caring about it
I think a bigger controversy should be the time they posted that ai vid of trump literally shitting on people out of a jet.
As much as the Obama video could be seen as tasteless or racist, any outrage I might feel about the racist connotations is tempered by the other side going out of their way to make similar posts vilifying Trump - whether its him looking like a baby in poopy diapers or mocking Christianity by depicting him as deserving of crucifixion. Both sides are quick to cry about hateful posts and rhetoric only to respond with more of the same. It's hard to give the argument any credibility each time this happens.
It's about not hurting anyone's feeling when others are called scholars. So everyone is a scholar. This is a real thing.
Public schools don't just indoctrinate, they also coddle kids. I believe I may have posted in the past about a social media post discouraging teachers from disciplining students misbehaving in class. Instead of saying something such as, "Pat, stop tapping your pencil on the desk and distracting your classmates," teachers are being encouraged to say something such as, "Pat, I know tests can be stressful. What can I do to make this easier for you?"
Like
@SaidNoOneEver, I've seen "scholars" be used so students who get poor grades don't have their feelings hurt as part of the previously mentioned coddling akin to giving everyone a participation trophy so they don't feel left out.
I think the Dems just won't know how to redirect their ire after roughly-a-decade of raging against the same person nonstop.
I won't be surprised if they say all future Republican candidates are Trump stooges who don't deserve a single vote. Still, the point remains that having a purely, "Trump bad" platform won't work once he is out of office and politics as a whole.
I found 2 videos of the owner talking to a abc anchor, she appears to be a midget. At the end of the 2nd video she said that after what happened she took it to the vet, she said it had "fractured rib injury" and its on pain meds. It also appears that the 2nd video has another angle of the punt, but before it got kicked it was going near their k9 unit dog.
How many kiwis have encountered small dogs that want to bite or attack even after the owner insists they're friendly/harmless? Law enforcement isn't going to give dogs the chance to do anything if they act in any sort of aggressive or threatening manner. From what I saw, the kick is an acceptable and justifiable non-lethal response.
I don't think they found her yet but let's be real here they're looking for a fucking cadaver. An 84 year old woman who was hit on the head hard enough to leave blood at the scene of her abduction and hasn't had her heart medication in days? Everybody put your corpse handling gloves on.
With each passing day, I feel it's more likely she's dead or disposed of somewhere out in the wilderness never to be seen again.
Agreed. I find that I'll hear the official narrative from everyone, then retreat to my right wing echo chamber, and realise that the truth is somewhere in the middle, and it's somewhere like here where I can dissect all the information that floats in my head and drives me crazy because I need to know the actual truth.
I think as painful as it is, every single person needs to be this socratic about absolutely everything they hear, and come out of it with their initial thesis statement refined, and challenged but ultimately validated, e.g. my initial thought with the Pretti shooting was he probably agitated the situation, I research and find out that it seemed to be the case albeit I.C.E. didn't handle it perfectly, and I reach the logical conclusion that even when I.C.E. fucks up, they are necessary and are doing their jobs and this situation wouldn't happen if they had co-operation from local and state police and authorities and leftists continue to protest in ways that, even if a right winger were to do it, I would find obnoxious, unprofessional and potentially criminal and it's their fault for putting themselves in that situation.
This is how I feel generally and specifically. The truth always lies in the middle, but we have opposing narratives that are complete opposites of each other with it very difficult to get the true story since videos can be truncated or otherwise presented without the necessary full details or context needed to make an informed, objective decision.
Has ICE had incidents they could have handled better? Sure. Is part of the issue the combination of state/local government actively impeding their efforts and activists itching for a confrontation at all costs? Definitely.
Don't do stupid shit is a message nobody wants to heed any more even if doing so probably eliminated most of the issues we've seen so far with ICE's deportation efforts.
Nevermind the malls, almost every store feels like I'm walking into a third-world shithole.
The commute home from a business client's office has me drive past an intersection that feels more like Baghdad than the US. There's at least one mosque if not two within a six block radius, and all the store fronts at the major intersection in the middle have both English and Arabic lettering. The enclave seems peculiar to me because most of the surrounding neighborhood currently consists of white and black trash.
There's nothing inherently wrong with ethnic districts, but they seem out of place when they serve only the local ethnics and not everyone in the community like a Chinatown or similar district seen in various other cities that attracts the general public as a whole.
He's playing chicken with the feds, all to save face, thinking they'll back down to avoid the almost guaranteed conflict with the natives these operations would cause.
Has Newsome forgotten how ICE and Feds were undeterred at the first raids last year in California when the protests and violence first started? At this point he's acting only to please his constituency and preserve his political future.
The US Olympic delegation immediately debasing themselves to say they don't like ICE and don't want to represent America is a great way to take the wind out of the sails of their performance this year. That's not even a matter of politics in sports, you just don't shit on the place that you're wearing the flag of on your jacket.
Shit like this is why I've lost interest in 99% of the Olympic broadcasts and happenings.
NYT ran a story on page 1 along with that monkey video story about how USAID being cut is leading to mass starvation in Afghanistan. Assuming that's really the case, somehow I get the impression they want all USAID back, especially corrupt parts...
Don't forget that even if USAID was fully funded again, the starving Afghans likely wouldn't receive a single penny towards food/assistance and instead get millions of dollars funding a musical telling them it's okay to be gay. In short, all the money would be once again funneled into the corrupt stuff under the guide of helping underprivileged people all around the world.
