The posters think that because I disagree with ICE's policies, that means I want infinite illegals. I just think the harshness of ICE's policies are going to sway the American public against immigration enforcement. We all bring up that Obama got zero media attention as he was deporting illegals and that's a good point. I don't recall Obama going out and saying where ICE's next big mobilization was going to be. Nobody was there to report on ICE movements or see the arrests (also the social media networks were not as developed as they are now).
I won’t say much about social networks back then, considering smartphones were extremely new. But I am reminded of the Elian Gonzalez affair in 1999. SWAT team with MP5s to secure a child seems overkill to me. But back then? It was seen as justified, even cheered for. It was much the same as today in terms of legal conundrums. Legal jurisdiction could not decide what to do: is the kid a ward of America or Cuba? Where does he belong? But he ultimately was returned to Cuba.
tldr I don’t think Americans have changed much at all in 25 years I think the media certainly has, however.
Shining a spotlight early on lets the leftists start up their networks and prepare to obstruct ICE. A quieter approach might delay the mobilization of agitators.
True, but ICE already does this as quietly as possible I think. They just want to do their job and go home. They don’t want to risk, say, some idiot choosing to act like a caveman and throwing a brick at them from afar. This happened to Andrew Ngu once with quick-drying cement in a milkshake cup. I don’t think the culprit was ever caught.
Once again, I think it is due to ragebait media. But also, a foul mixture of (some) paid protestors, as well as organized agitators that do it for a living. You could say the latter of the three are the “masterminds” behind it all. Most people in these cities, such as Minneapolis, just go to work, pay taxes and sleep. They don’t want to risk random injury like Andrew Ngu above. They don’t want to get involved at all. That’s why invoking the insurrection act would be foolish, if you want me to criticize Trump. These aren’t cities that are rebelling but a few out-of-state bad actors and their literal goon henchmen. Therefore it requires a lighter, more modern touch.
Crowds on Demand isn’t a bad service per se like if you needed extras for a film or wanted to make a surprise party more memorable. But the way they are being used I think is really malicious:
The Somalis in Minnesota have been an ethnic block that the DFL use, especially in Minneapolis. But how many of the ICE detainees have been Somalian? Most of them seem to be of the latino persuasion.

Now, there is a lie being spread that he was fired from a nursing job for "predatory behavior" but that seems to be fake, it was only news on fake World News/Hindustan Times sites. But his parents confirmed he was unemployed for months by his own accord, and his wife divorced him and left as he became much more involved in politics. I don't have numbers to back it up, but I get the feeling this is because Trump is heavy on the "deport the convicted criminals first" push. They're going after illegals with convictions for murder, rape, sexual assault, and violent crimes first, so that they look good getting the worst of the worst out. Just by numbers and timing, you're going to have more Latinos in that category, because they've been coming over for decades longer.
Once the fraud charges start piling up in the Somali neighborhoods, maybe you'll see their arrests spike too. Or maybe Trump will make an example of them closer to the midterms.
This move should be seen as Xi finally having 0 fetters in trying to enact his foreign policy with force if need be, their is no more "silos" of independent power.

No surprise, the country had very little popular resistance to him pushing through the law change to give him the extra term. That was the water test for going full dictator. Assuming he can get the military in line peacefully, they'll probably pass law that makes the presidency and the head position of the CCP itself one in the same, without limits. And I don't think the average bugman will really oppose it - not out of fear, but just lack of caring. As long as they can more or less live their lives and the good times keep coming, they'll play along.

I said it before and I said it again, the democrats need their own Donald Trump. Not just a bombastic leader, but someone who'll slurp up the discontent and misalignment in the party internal structure and use it to break down the old way of doing things. I dunno whether they'll end up with a left-field lefty moderate or a communist chaos worshipper (They'll definitely try the latter, but I doubt if it'd be able to stick) but they've got to do something. I don't think a centrist technocratic approach would work - The left has gained a fair share of anti-tech attitudes with their hate of musk bleeding into general hate of tech moguls, it might appeal to donors but it won't get voters.

I got third-hand anecdotal info that since ICE arrived in Minneapolis, fent overdoses (typically treated at Hennepin County Medical Center, one of Minnesota’s largest safety-net hospitals and the primary uninsured hospital system in the state, as well as the premier trauma/ burn center in the state and training ground for half of mn doctors) are way, way down vs typical. Root cause analyses on that differ, with some saying that the connection is dealers staying low with active LE, and others saying generally that ICE crackdowns keep people in need from seeking needed help (though tbh, I don't think that is very relevant for ods, so if true, I think it's option #1). Ymmv.
No actually, ICE is deporting 100x more people from Texas than Minnesota. There aren't any incidents there because the state government isn't organizing riots behind the scenes to protect a Somali fraud network that funds the party. State governments have no ability to arrest & deport illegal aliens.
