Trump admin is just waiting for violent retaliation so they can declare martial law IMHO.
The optics of sending undisciplined, under trained federal agents into these communities is catastrophic -- the average person is not politically radical, nor desensitized to this kind of violence. Sure, a fair amount of people are too lazy or squeamish to look into the footage themselves, and may accept the domestic terrorist/would-be assassin narratives at face value -- and it's been proven without a doubt that the Trump regime has a robust propaganda network, but statistics indicate his base has been shrinking at a steady rate.
Which doesn't bode well for the midterms unless they can effectively undermine democracy, which they're already doing through voter suppression. Invalidating a massive amount of mail-in votes might not be enough to guarantee victory though.
I've been to the No Kings protests, and have born witness to Anti-ICE gatherings. These protests are nation-wide, and near-impossible for the average person to ignore unless they practically live under a rock. Even when protesters aren't flooding the streets I see anti-Trump and anti-ICE sentiment in the form of flyers, graffiti, and the occasional isolated group on street corners chanting and waving signs.
His only real path to continued power, in my opinion, is to either fix the mid-term election well enough that a loss is an impossibility -- which the admin has already been making progress towards, or just ensuring we don't have another election. Period.
I think it's more likely to be the latter.
Those of you who want to see blood spilled are certainly going to get your wish if things keep on the way they are.
I just pray to God I'm proven wrong on this. I want so badly to be wrong about this.
