This is upsetting, Uvalde cop was found not guilty in letting kids get killed because they did nothing for hours, there is no sense of justice anymore, fucking mexicans:

Ironically, everything about this post is wrong. I watched most of the trial. It was one of the best defenses I have ever seen and it's worth a watch.
1. The man pictured at the top is not the cop that was found not guilty (Adrian Gonzales), but Joe Vasquez. An actual, bona fide hero that was one of the (7?) officers who breached the room and killed the shooter. I believe he was #2 in the stack. He did not have to be there, and this was not in his jurisdiction. He had a daughter that went to the school. I recommend watching his direct and cross, both were compelling.
2. The cop using hand sanitizer was reportedly ordered to prepare to be a part of a triage team for the kids, did not have gloves, and as everyone else was gloving up he was trying to sterilize his hands.
3. The defense showed that the accused Adrian Gonzales:
- Never had line of site on the shooter. Other cops there did and did not shoot at or immediately pursue him into the school.
- Responded to the call of his own accord and was not dispatched. Initially the call was a car crash with an armed man running towards the school.
- Immediately drove directly at whom he thought was the shooter, that turned out to be a teacher's aide.
- Was the
first responding officer there, armed
only with a handgun. He was accused of waiting behind his car for 1 or 2 minutes with the teacher's aide, while she was hysterically telling him incorrect information (this is actually what the charge was about, not the full 77 minutes or whatever the full length of time was). The echo of the shots made their position unclear. During the entirety of this time he was the lone officer on scene. He was one of the first of two officers into the school. He went in immediately after he noticed that shots were coming out of the school from inside, and after the other cop arrived to his position. The other cop that entered with him was grazed in the head.
- For the rest of the time he was there, he was helping get children out of the school, tracked down a map with the layout of the school, and he was the one that obtained the master key that the breachers used.
Not exactly the picture of a coward, in fact, seemingly the opposite.
I did not know this earlier and I don't think it was mentioned in the trial, but BORTAC, and I assume other willing officers, were repeatedly ordered not to breach the classroom. BORTAC and other officers ended up breaching the classroom
against orders. They implied in the trial that the local police didn't have equipment (like shields); I don't know if that means the accused didn't have a rifle in the car. It will be interesting to see the Chief's trial, but there's a lot more to what happened than what journoscum report on. Reportedly there were State Police officials that also gave orders to do nothing.
I think it can't be understated that if seemingly every door in that school wasn't unlocked, this would have been a minor footnote (and they should have been by policy). It was pointed out in the trial that the door through which Adrian and the other officer entered, was also unlocked; this was a different door than the one the shooter casually gained entry through. Another thing that I read was that there were documented cases in the school where the doors would malfunction in such a way where the physical lock of the door was indeed locked, but the door latches would not seat properly. Meaning: if you tried to actuate the handle, it wouldn't budge (suggesting that it was locked, because the mechanism technically was). If you simply pulled on the door, it would open since the door wasn't latched properly. This could have been the reason for the contention that they didn't actually need keys to get in, although in the trial I got the sense that one of the doors to the adjoined classrooms was unlocked and one of the doors was actually locked. If I got something wrong please correct me.
