There's not a ton of difference, and eventually indifference/apathy will set in and people will stop giving a shit. I usually skip the mocking and/or outrage and get to the end point of not caring right from the start. It's where people inevitably end up anyway.

Both Kirk and this person were moreso mocked for the ideas they represented versus who they were as a person. That explains the vitriol. You can't hate them since you didn't know them, but you can hate the ideas they stood for to the best of your personal understanding.

Kirk's ideas were bog-standard Conservatism, pro-constitutionalism, "spirit of free debate", etcetera. It didn't matter to the people celebrated his death that he had children, a wife, etcetera, they hated his ideas so hate him in turn.

Similarly, this person is being mocked for the ideas they put themselves in harm's way for, like Kirk. To the right-wing, this person brought a gun to a protest against immigration enforcement. In other words, he was prepared to (symbolically) resist the state's attempts to remove illegals, even violently, if need be. As a "cause", it's not particularly significant. It's the same for the right's reaction to George Floyd's protests and so on. The person who died matters less than the cause they died for, and this person paid his life just for the right for foreigners to live in his country illegally.

I think on some subconscious level, the left-wing realise this. Or it's already what they believe sincerely but the right-wing obviously doesn't, because perspectives differ. This death to the left isn't purely to defend illegals, it was a death that occurred because this person was standing in opposition to some mounting authoritarianism/nebulous fascism.

To the right-wing this person died trying to prevent the expulsion of people living in America illegally i.e. prioritising non-Americans over Americans. To the left-wing Kirk died trying to spread hate, racism, and covertly grow fascist support in the US and provoke violence against the Left and minorities.

Both are reductive but I'd argue one requires less contrivance than the other. This person died to halt illegal expulsion and "resist tyranny" meaning the right's assessment is at least half-true. A lot of the reasons people celebrated Kirk dying were outright fiction.

TLDR: Both Kirk and this person are being mocked for the ideas they espoused/causes they over who they were as a person. The reasons to mock/celebrate Kirk's death largely relied on contrivance ("Stochastic terrorism") whereas the reason for this person require far less (he brought a gun to a protest opposing the removal of illegal immigrants).

It's less an endorsement of state-sanctioned violence and moreso why he died. He'll likely fade from memory as quickly as the car-lesbian and that dude who self-immolated for Palestine - both of them.
