Home Buying / Housing Market Griefing Thread - You're going to rent until you die.

No, any country with a pension system needs immigrants because the native population stopped having babies and pension systems were designed with stable population growth in mind. If people were still having babies you'd wind up with the same problem.

There are just simply too many people.
Or you know the old bitter fucks that are somehow in charge of the western world can stop fucking everything up for everybody that’s not them so people actually want to have children.

Otherwise no. Fuck off we’re full. The mass deportations will continue until morale improves.

Plenty of white men have kids and are able to support them, including me. I have four. Think the problem starts at home, no?

A big part of the problem is that immigrants ARE willing to cram ten in a building whereas native-borns usually frown on that and increase pressure to build more housing. Locals also vote and will vote for more housing when they feel the pressure - many immigrants won’t (or can’t) vote at all.

I mean it certainly doesn’t help. It’s a cultural issue as much as anything. Why would personal responsibility be a virtue in modern society to the average person? But that’s getting a little off topic.

At least you see it and your kids aren’t going to grow up into fucked up adults.

It depends on the country. The Canada Pension Plan is fully self-funded. Around $115 comes out of your cheque every week automatically, and that is set aside specifically for you when you retire. There's not pot of money that everyone pays into like the ponzi scheme in the US.

It is true though that aging populations create other problems like a shortage of people and facilities to take care of the elderly.

I would argue though that the population cannot possibly grow into infinity, so any system based on infinite population growth is built on a fallacy in the first place and needs reform.

Given that immigrants (legal and not) are a drag on social services and the tax base I think the “need for infinite niggers” comes more from businesses needing slave labor rather than pay anything resembling market wages.

my friend just bought his first house for about $230K, it's weird to me since he only put 5% down and got an additional 2% grant from the state for first-time homebuyers. i didn't know they'd let you go that low for a down payment and i'm wondering how bad his monthly payments are going to be.

Disagree.

The pension systems were never designed with long term thinking in mind. They just didn't care, it was a problem to be solved later, cross that bridge when we get there style.

And now we are 'there' and it's clear that we're pretty fucked because immigrants don't really help either, even if they were net tax payers they'd still only delay the inevitable with one or two years.

The pensions need to be ended completely. It's a government enforced Ponzi scheme.

I mean with PMI you have to put ‘something’ down, but I talk to a lot of people that didn’t come up with 20% and it seems to work out for them. What is PMI but a hedge against default with an abnormally low LTV.

So yeah, it’s probably worse, but if you can stomach the extra mortgage insurance then fuck it why not.

I mean it's probably obvious but then you are chained to the purchase price of your home.

When I was buying my house I saw a ton of people selling who were military. They all went with 0 down vet loans and then after 2-3years had to move.

The amount they put toward their principle after 3 years was dick all which meant they HAD to sell the house at the price they bought it for or put up cash.

They were sitting on the market for months.. unable to come down on price but already moved to another town/base.

This is exactly it - you can probably work out the 7% down mortgage payment but the more critical thing is the remainder of the loan; all loans move so little in the first 5-10 years that if you sell during there for anything but a gain, you’re selling away your down payment - which means at 7% you can’t take a 10% drop without cash in hand.

Again, if the numbers are favorable compared to renting and you get to pocket some assistance AND are darn sure you want to stay in the area long term, it can be worth it.

Military housing is the exact worse case for this shit, but when line go up for 20+ years it becomes standard knowledge that “it’s what you do”.

This is why it seems there’s a massive conspiracy to prevent house price declines, because there fucking is.

Yeah and then grandma starves which is sure to go over well with the electorate. It's all just completely fucked at this point. You could means test SS, but that means you're punishing people who actually saved for retirement. You could work on increasing worker wages, but that'd increase prices and so CPI-M would go up and then you're just stuck in a loop. It just wasn't envisioned very well.

Anyway this is pretty off topic so I'm going to drop it.

Prices go down and the mortgage rate creeps upward.

Illegals cram ten into a shitbox apartment but native whites think you are a monster for not giving little Snotleigh her own iPad when she’s three.

Yeah and Snotleigh has autism because you waited until 35 to have her.

The truth is that post-WW2 America was an economic aberration and it's not coming back. Wanting to give your kids the best life possible is admirable but you can't use what the baby boomers were doing as your measuring stick. Like obviously you should be stable enough for food and clothing and not risking homelessness every month but you don't need an idyllic SFH with a perfectly manicured lawn.

And you're better off getting well-married young and sprogging brats young so that you're not pushing fifty and chasing after fucking toddlers.

And small kids do not give a SHIT what they live in, so that's the perfect time to live in an apartment or a shitty run-down starter home, and work on fixing it up slowly (the kids will destroy it anyway) so that you have a stable base for when they're older. So what if you're a grandparent at 45? Better than a new parent!
