I think Phil is definitely straight (I agree about the gay jokes though they're funny as hell) but no woman would sleep with him especially these days. I doubt Kat does. Not because she's fat and he's disgusted by that, I think Phil would fuck a rotting pumpkin if he could. But because he's so thoroughly unlikeable. Just a true shitstain, a skid mark on the tighty-whiteys of the universe.
His weirdness around sex and women is probably because he gets so little he's practically a virgin. Or because he's so autistic that thinking about getting pussy gives him a panic attack. He's more casual with the gay shit because it poses no challenge to his sexually repressed shadow self.
Then again, we've all seen how he looks at LTG. Craving that peanut butter complexion.
My personal opinion is that Phil is gay but he doesn't know he's gay. If you think about Phil, his lack of self awareness is arguably his defining character trait. There's a decent argument to be made for his narcissism, but ultimately that reveals itself to the world because of his total lack of self awareness. Autistic people often have a difficult time understanding their own emotions and reactions to stimuli. Something that has always colored Phil's view of the world is the 80s movie stereotype. For example, Phil has very, very poor eyesight and is even required to wear eyeglasses when driving. However, he very rarely wears his glasses. He's explained in the past his dislike for his glasses because they make him appear nerdy. This is of course not something any mature adult would think about, appearing nerdy in their own home by wearing glasses so they can actually see what they're doing, but for Phil who only ever learned social dynamics from 80s comedies, this makes him the nerd virgin and not the chad jock. So he resists wearing eyeglasses, even when paid to in the case of the gunner glasses, which even when hitting the $50 goal for them he often avoided wearing for as long as possible.
In much the same way, Phil's "socialized" view of homosexuality is that it's something to look down upon, like a nerd wearing glasses. It's a blow to even the most masculine presenting man's masculinity if he is a homosexual. Believing himself the epitome of manhood, Phil's autistic mind and narcissistic ego examines this and concludes, obviously, that cannot be a homosexual. He is masculine and manly, a man's man, with a deep voice that you can hear the bass in and rippling muscles (not moobs). Subconsciously, however, and on a physiological level I believe Phil is gay. He would never admit this because, consciously, he believes himself to be straight. But examine almost any of Phil's mannerisms, topics of discussion, or behavior and it's clear to see that he was born gay, although he is too autistic to understand that.
-Phil's voice: Phil, even in his mid 40s, still maintains a very high, nasally voice often associated with men of lesser masculinity/greater levels of homosexuality. Despite growing up nearly as far on the East coast of the USA as humanly possible, Phil inexplicably has a valley girl accent, frequently associated with the dumb, hyper feminine women of California in the 80s and 90s. Although the valley girl accent is most strongly associated with these women, it also shares much in common with the well-known "gay accent", or vocal affectation put on by homosexual men. Phil has this affect because he is gay.
-Phil's obsession with the male body: Phil's go-to humor since he was a "kid" in his late 20s has been centered solely around the private parts of a male's body. A man's cock, ass, balls, and taint, or his fecal matter, are the subject of ~90% of Phil's humor. If you were to ask Phil to make a joke off the top of his bald head, it's almost certain this joke would center around a man's feces or his penis. In the past, Phil has even criticized wrestling games because they showed a male wrestler with shaven legs, when in reality during the time period the game was meant to depict, his legs were unshaven. Phil knew this because he had sexual feelings for the wrestler, who was male.
-Phil's affinity for nude black men: Phil was banned on the SRK forums for posting uncensored pictures of black mens' penises, and when leaving his laptop unattended in a hotel room he was sharing with other men in the FGC days, they found and played porn featuring black men from his computer. When presented with a default shirtless ripped black character in SF6 world mode character creation, he was stunlocked, only able to muster an

-Phil's pining for the approval of men: Phil has admitted even post break-up, he used to get drunk in the middle of the night and watch his old co-op and travel videos with John Rambo. He would drunkenly text Howard and John late into the night thinking about them. His behavior resembles a troubled ex-girlfriend much more than a man in his early 30s dealing with long time male friends. Similar behavior can be seen in his treatment of Wings, LTG, PPP, and Andy, the last of which Phil referred to as his "gaming soulmate" before expressing his desire for Andy to remove his shirt and "expose [his] shredded body".
-Phil's projection: Phil's go-to attack, even in 2025, against other men is to suggest and insinuate that they are homosexual. Anybody familiar with Phil knows that most of what comes out of Phil's mouth regarding other people is projection. Phil stated that the only reason PPP would invite him on a trip is to come on to him sexually. Long-time viewers will of course remember that Phil has invited numerous men on trips across the United States. Is he simply attacking PPP with whatever he can think of, or does he know from experience that the only reason to travel with another men is to make sexual advances on them? Phil likely attempted to sexually rear end John Rambo.
All of that being said, I do agree with people who say Phil is "not gay" to a degree. I don't think Phil himself knows he's gay. Notice all of this can be said about Phil and not even mention his obsession with wrestling mobile games, where collecting photos of sweaty, ripped men in only a speedo brought him to his knees to the point where he had to commit bankruptcy fraud. I just think Phil is gay, was born gay, but does not understand and/or cannot accept that he is gay. It would be too big of a blow to his ego. Despite his long time blustering about his streams being a safe space for LGBT, his attacks against any enemy being that they're gay shows that Phil does not view homosexuality favorably. Thus, it would be impossible for him to accept about himself.
The only real question is whether Phil is too autistic to process and understand that he is gay, or too narcissistic to ever admit it.
