Verizon users are suffering outages impacting voice and data services, the company confirmed on Wednesday.

Verizon announced in a statement on social media that its engineers are aware of the situation and are working to resolve the issue, which affected users around the U.S.

"We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience," Verizon said in a statement.

The outage tracking website Downdetector showed 172,980 reports of outages around 12:30 p.m. ET. Those outages declined to 120,628 as of 1:22 p.m. ET, and continued to decline to 67,646 as of 2:36 p.m. ET.

As of 5:30 p.m. ET there were about 46,250 reports of outages.

The most reported problems on Downdetector were mobile phone issues, which represented 62% of the reports. Lack of signal accounted for 34% of the reports, while mobile interest issues the remaining 4% as of 2 p.m. ET.

New York City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles and Portland were among the metro areas with outage reports submitted on the platform.

The actual number of users affected by the outage may differ from those figures, as Downdetector reports are submitted by users.

Verizon issued an update at 2:15 p.m. ET saying that "engineering teams are continuing to address today's service interruptions. Our teams remain fully deployed and are focused on the issue."

The company added that it understands the impact the disruption has on customers' days, and it remains committed to resolving the issue as quickly as possible.

A subsequent update after 4 p.m. ET indicated the engineering team is "on the ground actively working to fix today's service issue that is impacting some customers."

Verizon experienced a nationwide wireless outage in September 2024 that impacted more than 100,000 users and left customers who are iPhone users stuck in an SOS mode, while other users experienced dropped calls.

The outage drew the attention of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which had reached a settlement with Verizon earlier that year that saw the carrier pay over $1 million to resolve an investigation into 911 outages in six states. The company also entered into a compliance plan with the FCC.

Lol, enjoy paying $90+ for no service, plebs.
These fuckers tack on more charges than anyone else for no reason than “fuck you”. Left two years after they went from Bell Atlantic to Verizon. I can’t imagine how bad it is now. A casual glance at their locales reveals nothing but jeets and muslim employees. Gross.

You don't even get to unlock the bootloader on their phones. How cucked do you have to be to willingly pay Verizon?

Sister has it. Good luck getting customer service. If you aren’t on auto pay and their system says you missed a payment even though you didn’t? Disconnected. You automatically get sent to the voice system to set up payment. But you want to prove you paid? Nope. Not an option. You want to go to a Verizon store for help? Fuck off they work for commission and you aren’t buying anything. So you can just pay and they’ll refund you when you prove you double paid right? HAAHAHA FUCCCCCKKKK NO hope you didn’t need that for anything. Thanks though!

All of these phone companies are just one company. I have this illusion of choice but it's actually these carriers carrying each other. So when 1 service goes down, it affects all the other carriers.

Verizon could suck it. I'm proud that I'll never use that shitty overpriced service.

I have business to conduct and all my lines are Total Nigger Death. I want some type of compensation.

My first thought when service when down was that some poo encrusted pajeet intern took a massive curry shit on a server somewhere.

I've had the same carrier for over 20 years. $35 a month unlimited everything plus hotspot for when Spectrum shits the bed. Was Virgin Mobile, now Boost. I don't think I've ever had a rate increase and never had a problem. Why do people pay so damn much?
