Debate TES regulars about why the site's userbase had a political shift

Anybody who comes into this thread saying "the reason that this website has shifted politically is because of this one side only" should know that that's a really bad debate take. Especially when it seems like the real reason that there's such a strong political backlash and negativity is because instead of compromising and trying to be nuanced or listen to both sides and see both without getting personal, they just refuse and keep butting heads and attacking each other.

Until that happens, it won't improve.
 
I think the only thing I've learned from this thread is that there are idiots in both camps who are incapable of just ignoring comments they don't like and people they disagree with. You know that you can just not respond, and let people be wrong? Not every thread is your personal DMs and needs a response from you.

You might see more centrist or agreeable takes if you didn't spend all your time slap fighting with a handful of other users in the same handful of threads.

I've quickly learned this too. Like I said, people need to learn to respect each other's beliefs and just agree to disagree.
 
If your argument on the internet is ever "I live in the REAL world and have REAL relationships, that's how I know I'm right", you're a fucking retard.
We're all here for a reason, and you can't just "I have a real life" mog somebody on an anonymous forum. That's not a thing. Everybody is going to think they are actually the one with the real life.

Debate prompt aside, if everyone is going to argue about which side is the bigger politisperg, can we at least not use "real life" as a cope, or pretend that this isn't being discussed on a website about internet retards...?

The reason why people are less chill in the current political climate is both sides think the other side wants them dead, whether this is true or not doesn't actually matter
People don't care how good of an argument you or your opponent makes
All they know is that you hate them and want them dead, so why should they be polite to you?

That makes sense. Of course there's a number of reasons, but this one is believable. I think it's also because of egos as well.

i spent most of the Biden administration trying to go back to ignoring politics and living life like before 2020. then the Biden administration kept trying to push vaccine mandates and DEI, covid cultists refused to give up the moral power they thought they wielded during covid, Democrats across the board told me to disbelieve my lying eyes at how mentally incompetent Biden had become, and leftists and their kike/nigger/AWFL/tranny followers refused to stop ruining every single kind of media i used to enjoy even though Trump was finally out of office

Fair enough but I saw way too many cringey anti-maskers too during that time. Because they kept losing their shit and any time someone loses their shit especially in public, that's embarrassing.

Funny enough, I witnessed two retards fighting in a clothing store about one of them wearing a mask. And not only did they get in an embarrassing fight and made scenes, but both of those assholes blocked the entire aisle and I was stuck standing behind them and witnessing that tard fight.

And that wasn't during Covid, that was a couple months ago lol.

i know that as a woman this may be a complete surprise to you but seeing two fat people at Walmart do something cringey last week doesn't offset how you revealed yourselves to be boot lickers who would have been first in line to rat out your family, friends, and neighbors to The Party for covid offences a la the nazi regime

still a dangerous line to tread when the main argument for mask mandates was "why don't you just do it? the government told us to do it and it would be easier for everyone if you just did what you were told." same logic that trannies use to bully people into calling them ma'am and creep on women in bathrooms

Because making retarded scenes in the streets and yelling at retail workers over having to wear a mask and treating them like shit is just as dangerous and stupid as people saying the stuff you just said. Anybody who screamed in people's faces, pro or anti masks, all looked like aggressive spastic retards and should have just shut up.

It was a bad look for everyone.
