Conditioner (which I don't usually recommend for other coats)....and comb through while it's still on the fur in the shower. Furminator brand actually had the idea right, but their metal combs tear fragile fur and make it frizzy. Just get a cheaper one that doesn't slice hair like that. But, the technique they give on the directions for the set is perfect. Conditioner loosens up that undercoat.

I've tried a couple with mixed to positive results, but the biggest improvement came from a forced air "husky" blower and I can't recommend them enough to ALL dog owners, now.

Hell, I use that thing for all sorts of shit, now. Drying and de-shedding the pups is just a bonus, now. Blowing dirt out of crevices in my car or truck before vacuuming them, blowing out various air and dust filters, and simply air sweeping my patio and deck.
