Mix of both, not sure about other Asians, but in Japan the husband is basically just a wage slave who's main job is to earn money for the household. Problem in my mind, is there's kind of this balancing act needed with the oil market, where you may want the price to be lower to get lower gas prices, but you don't want it so low that you price out shale oil which is more expensive to drill for.

Part of why shale oil became such a big deal was that oil prices went up quite a bit so that it became economical to actually drill for which helped the US economy a massive amount.

So even if you did have oil companies start going into Venezuela to get the oil there, you'd have to be concerned about what damage that could do to domestic oil drilling. Also ends up sounding a bit like Trump would have to subsidize the Venezuelan oil industry (or whoever is daring enough to try investing there) to help prop up a project that would hurt the US oil industry.

Which wouldn't make a ton of sense if the ultimate goal was supposed to be some great payoff to help enrich the US.
