More importantly......any time you got to the back of a ethnic restaurant it just filled with hispanics. If they can figure out how to make the food white people can too.
The very best "Chinese food" I've ever had was cooked by El Salvadorans.
I'm an older millennial, and I was out of high school just shy of when Obozo became POTUS, so I was lucky enough to avoid Big Mike's school lunch slopfest. Never mind being subjected to the education system insanity of their era where I could have been at the ripe impressionable age to have my head filled with progressive leftist dogmas.
I'm old enough to remember the time before the Food Pyramid: the Four Food Groups
They were Meats, Dairy, Fruits & Vegetables, Grains and Cereals. I barley remember it, but I seem to recall the idea was that they should be eaten in roughly equal proportion to each other.
Then the Food Pyramid came out, and showed that most of one's calories should come from grains and starches, and that Fats & Oils were the darkest of evils, to be avoided at all costs. The notion that humans actually need fat was not entertained. I did not learn about rabbit sickness -- the name given to symptoms of life-threatening fat deficiency, until I was in my 20s.
Grains and starches by themselves are not evil: carbohydrates are one of the fundamental macronutrients that every human needs or they
will die. But they largely only provide fast-acting carbohydrates, and provide little to no protein or fat. Taken out of proportion to slower carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables, or fats, and proteins (the other two fundamental macronutrients), managing appetite gets extremely difficult, making overeating almost a foregone conclusion. Not to mention micronutrient intake is also severely limited. The fact that most land-whale lolcows documented on the farms have diets that consist mainly of highly-processed starches is not an accident.
As you state, it is no wonder America got fatter in the 90s and 00s.
