Not going to shed a tear for Maduro given his track record, although this strike was ludicrously illegal likely legal. I'm interested to see how congress and the rest of the international community reacts.

I'm at least 90% sure the reaction will be to complain about it but otherwise do fuck-all as per usual.

Would be neat if this is finally the straw that breaks the camels back in regards to Trump finally getting impeached, although as things are now we'd be effectively swapping one puppet for special interest money for another, just with less dementia & charisma.

While this is true, there's also the slight factor that an amphibious assault on Taiwan, even without US support, is going to be pretty damn hard and a costly mission. China can take Taiwan if they can literally blockade them and starve them, but we just gotta assume at this point that US, S. Korea and Japan are not going to allow that to happen. The assault itself on Taiwan is very hard, there are not that many beaches to land, and their military can be focused there. Taiwanese military is no slouch either.

The US has set Green Berets and other special forces to train the locals on Penghu Island to be an autonomous force that can take the fight to China without the US or Taiwan giving them the greenlight. They've been there since July.

Also the Taiwanese Hai kun is perfect for their littoral waters against Chinese subs, which is the big gap in the US's military tech right now. But all the US would have to do is park 1 Arleigh Burke, it would be able to delete everything. Throw a couple Hai Kuns in for good measure and it's over.

Now if the CCP has somehow convinced the PAFMM that a suicide mission on their fishing boats is the answer, that might be a problem, because there can be more cheap militia than an Arleigh Burke can track & kill, but it'd be a meat grinder. And it's something that the US is actively working on solutions to.
