I see a lot of people excuse some of the show flaws because it has 8 episodes, but those 8 episodes are 20-30 minutes long, the only reason the pacing seems off its purely a writer issue, the show has too many characters and half of them are useless and could benefit the story by not existinģ, but the show wants to give them songs and a bit of backstory when its not necessary.
Late as fuck I know but this has always boiled my piss about no talent TV show writers, they have all the time in the world. Even if you only have 8 episodes and each episode clocks in at 25 minutes that's still a grand total of 200 minutes of screen time, that's three hours and twenty minutes.
Compare this to movies and you'll see why it's such a total cop-out thing to say:
Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith is 2hr 20min,
The Godfather Part III (Director's Cut) is 2hr 50min.
The only movies I can think of that are both mainstream and commercially successful that approach the 3hr 20min mark are
Titanic at 3hr 14min, and the Extended Cut editions of Peter Jackson's
Lord of The Rings movies which are 3hr 28min for
Fellowship of The Ring, 3hr 43min for
The Two Towers and 4hr 11min for
Return of The King. But those cuts of the film are often criticized for being too long by normies, the theatrical cuts of those three films are all less than 3hr 30min with the theatrical cut of
Return of The King ironically being exactly 3hr 20min, the same length as our theoretical "short" TV season.
So the next time you see TV show writers striking for better wages just keep in mind how much they don't deserve them.
