McDonalds, subway and del taco seem on their way out. McDonalds may be big, but they can coast for a little while. Every person I've known who works there knows it's woefully mismanaged and ignoring any complaints by their workers, the same problem they had in the early 00's. The difference was they turned it around back then, but they have new management now.
Subway is charging a premium for poor quality, rivalling mcdonalds costs when the whole point was they were slightly cheaper and minimally healthier than their competition. They fell once Jared got outted but it was inevitable when their food was just no longer good. It was never great but it's even worse, now.
Del taco is just Taco bells sibling that lost to better adverts. Taco bell may have everything taste the same, but it's reliable shitty food that's still decent. Most people I've met that work there seem to enjoy it too, which is incredibly rare.
I liken it to your chill friend that's always there to help pick your dumbass up after an all nighter and, while they can't make anything fancy, will always make something you like when hung over.
