It's not something released this year but I found it and it's probably one of the best TV shows I've watched this year. Thought I'd give it some recognition.
'The Boy's Word: Blood on the Asphalt' (2023)
It's a Russian TV series set in the 1980s during the final years of the Soviet Union and during the rise in juvenile street-gang activity (a real phenomenon that happened around this time). The main protagonist is a fourteen-year-old music student called Andrey, who while coming from a poor family and being the target of frequent bullying and beatings, befriends a classmate who is connected to a juvenile gang. He helps Andrey deal with the bully and after Andrey helps him get closer to his crush he invites him into the gang. The series covers his transition from a well-mannered Russian kid to a thug who engages in theft, beatings and gang warfare to support his gang whilst also trying to keep this a secret from his mother who is struggling mentally. There's also issues that arise like handling rival street gangs, tensions over gang leadership and Andrey's uncle being a policeman that he has to hide from the gang. While there's a bunch of wild and serious shit that goes on in it (including sexual violence and graphic violent scenes) there's also a few romance angles and comedic bits thrown in too.
This one isn't crazy long with only eight hour-long episodes but I really enjoyed it. I don't normally enjoy Russian shows but the story was great and the cinematography was really well done imo. There's a gritty Soviet atmosphere throughout this with most scenes taking place in run-down housing and urban locations. They do a good job of showing how fucking depressing Russia is because even in scenes where it shows off rich VIP treatment and glamorous situations it still looks fucking sad and bleak. For some reason the show must have only had the license for three or four songs in this series because they played repeatedly for different scenes but it still worked. It's also easy to locate with English subtitles too if needed.
There's also been some backlash from Russian officials tring to ban the show from being available since they believe that it glorifies criminal gang activity (it does) and is corrupting the youth of modern Russia (lol). And it's apparently very popular in Ukraine too and they also have officials lobbying to get it taken down there too (idk why, probably because it idolises Russia) which again hasn't happened.

Avatar 3 is a very long movie and the environmentalism is peachy again... But if you enjoyed the last 2 go for it. It's still pretty and fun.

Never watched the sequel but man, Brat is such a great movie (can't type slav runes, sorry). It has such a distinct and unique look with its One-day-after-the-Iron-Curtain-fell setting, lead actor has tons of charisma and it's overall just very entertaining. Love the scene where he's bitching about the shitty american music at a party he's at but it's actually a track by german Eurobeat legends E-Rotic. I should really watch the sequel. I do remember the subs being outrageously shitty in the version i pirated.
I was immensely hyped for this one and it should've been right up my alley but i ended up turning it off about 20 minutes in, absolutely failed to click with me.
I am not sure if i already wrote about it ITT but i watched Platoon in full for the first time this year (only ever caught bits of it on TV a hundred years ago before) and it immediately jumped to #2 on my war film list. Incredibly well-made film, to me it captured that Vietnam War feeling better than even FMJ and Apocalypse Now did in certain parts, also an absolutely outstanding cast.
Telling myself to watch this since forever now, maybe today is the day. Never watched anything with Rockwell in it that i did not ended up loving.
Pure, unadulturated Gilliam kino. Watched it anytime it was on TV, flawless movie for me. Whatever happened to Madeleine Stowe? Seems like she just disappeared after the 90's.
Definitely gonna check that out.

I found Moon a little annoying, but you're right it's similar. Mickey 17 has more humanity and laughs. The whole girlfriend marking up the clones for a three-way thing had me rolling. And the Ivanka Trump stand-in being obsessed with sauce is the kind of weirdness I love.
MASH is pretty good. The movie is interesting because Hawkeye is more of a right-wing child and the show they make him a bleeding heart. Both stand up well. The movie also ends on a football game which is kind of fun for a war movie

Watched the first episode of The Boy's Word which @Officer Barbrady recommended above and it's really fucking good. You can immediately tell it got some high production values, there's money behind this, very nice cinematography, on-location shooting etc. The young actors are chosen very well i think. I am not russian or have any idea of russian culture but i can tell that this goes hard in the nostalgia paint, i imagine the soundtrack, which is very good, is all bangers from the 80's and every russian who grew up in that time knows them by heart. I am surprised how i never even heard of a show of this quality before, if this was picked up by Netflix or some other streaming service it would become a smash hit over night. Leave it to Clown World 
to block a solid show from a wider audience just because present day politics are retarded. Most likely will spend the rest of the day and tommorow to watch the whole season. Excellent recommendation.

The original silent film is pure kino. It's one of the few silent films I'd recommend other than anything by Eisenstein (and with him you have to put up with the fact it is all Communist propaganda). Eisenstein because you still see modern directors just straight up lifting scenes and shots from it.

I watched it to prep for the new one back in January and it was an amazing experience.
The scene where he spots him staring at his door and then hiding as he walks in is fucking terrifying. Definitely worth watching.

Watching Jingle Jangle, about a Jeet that stole the life's work of a nigger with the help of an artificial intelligence. It's about baseline woke for these days and is a pleasant watch if you don't question the math.

Enjoyed myself watching this. My friend and I enjoy watching dogshit horror films but it was a pleasant surprise. -- If you haven't seen a thing about this: It's a movie about some homeless woman finding a job as a Housemaid, shocker, and goes to work at the Winchester family household. But as a horror film goes, someone is mentally deranged and spooky shit starts happening. Gory shit happens, people die, blablabla. The guy who keeps being fucking type-cast as "the hot guy with way too much charisma who's clearly not well who keeps seducing the main character", seriously, I've seen him in three films all performing the same character (It Ends With Us, Drop), is in here as well. People don't act like absolute retards in this so that at least made my enjoyment larger than most shitty horror films. If you're not into sex-scenes, probably don't watch this.

I just watched Nuremberg with Russell Greer Crowe. (Sorry I get those two studs confused sometimes) Lol.
It was pretty damn good I'll say. I would definitely recommend giving it a go especially if you like immediate post WW2 movies as your thing. I'm sure most of you know the story. Or at least the basics so I won't spoil anything plot details. --->He dies. HA-HA
EDIT: Although please do wait until it's only $5.99 to rent...
Edit 2: Finally watched the full Ed Gein miniseries. Was not terrible. Recommend.
Edit 3: Happy Gilmore 2 = boring, sucked! Couldn't hold my attention. Flipped off

I've recently watched Fackham Hall, the brits wanted to make their own Naked Gun/Airplane and for the most part it works.
It's not drop dead laughing amazing but most of the jokes landed for me.
