Merry Christmas Kiwis! Wanted to remind everyone that 249 years ago on this exact day the continental army was forming up to cross the Delaware river in what many described as "hurricane-like" blizzard conditions.

Just to remind you all what hard badass motherfuckers built this nation from sweat tears and blood , from all the vast accounts we have of the pre battle and battle itself there isent one example of either soldier or officer (that I have found) expressing even REMOTE disagrement with the admittedly ludicrous strategy of building flat bottom boats to cross the motherfucking Delaware river in DECEMBER. Keep in mind the crossing took like 9 to 12 hours, THINK ABOUT THAT, you ever taking a 12 hour spirit airlines redeye? how ready would you be for a battle after that?

Not only did we show up and kick their shit in, (6 of ours for 98 of theirs) but even though Washington EXPLICITLY ordered the captured rum to be burned, It was the day after christmas and the troops were flush with victory, they busted that shit out and drank so much we have COPIOUS records of the troops being so drunk that they kept falling in the Delaware river on the return journey lmao
