That's an optimistic look at a potential war. There have been admissions in recent months that the Venezuelan forces are preparing to use guerilla tactics if push comes to shove. No one can say with certainty how effective they'd be if push come to shove but one thing for certain is that the country have a lot more jungles and mountains to hide in then the Panamanians did.
one thing i have been told is that trees clear easier than caves, because you can dump herbicide and watch them scatter. i think the US would be more effective at rooting out jungle guerillas through herbicide and such than the cave and civilian populace bombings that the muzzies favored. who knows though, i still think it would work best to shock and awe them while they're exhausted from being on alert for a long time.

I will admit, it is indeed a bit optimistic, but the similarities are there (de facto leader/widely considered a dictator, war on drugs/cartels, etc.) When it comes to on-the-ground warfare, I'm fairly certain that with a combination of years of economic turmoil, corruption, and overall preference to loyalty rather than actual development, most of the Venezuelan forces would be extremely inefficient in terms of actual guerilla fighting, and honestly I'm certain that some of them will just surrender outright and even fight on the side of the Americans (along with a few civilians I would assume, judging by Maduro's low approval rating).
Napalm's pretty fuckin' good at clearing out jungles. The US got lots of practice doing that in Vietnam.
