thought Tucker was really bad. As bad as Ben, albeit in a different way.
Like the whole time he was just really disingenuous about the arguments he was trying to counter.
So for example, Ben made the argument that media hosts owe their audiences a neutral perspective and they shouldn't let their personal relationships warp how they present the issues. They need to be willing to call out people who are wrong about something, even if they're friends with those people.
Tucker tried to play this off as "he's saying I need to shit on my friends". And then the pulled his dumb high pitched giggle.
That really rubbed me the wrong way.
Like I remember years ago I found his weird high pitched giggle really funny in the context of shitting on completely lunatic ideas like troonery. Thinking about it, I think I liked it back then because there are no "two sides" to most troon issues. The troons are just wrong. Their ideas are not worthy of respect, so just laughing in their face is a perfectly acceptable response.
But for as much of an autistic doofus Ben Shapiro is, personal bias is a fair concern. Cut the gay giggle shit out.
That happened a few times, with a few criticisms about him. He didn't address any of them. He just poorly restated them and then pulled his giggle and moved on.
Actually, y'know what it reminds me of? It's the Daily Show shtick. It's: post news headline with funny picture of drumph, pull a goofy face, and audience claps.
There's a place for snarky quips and the occasional joke in a speech at an event like this, but like 100% of Tucker's speech was that nonsense. Zero content. And that's before he started glazing Muslims.
Ben was shitty because he was the exact opposite. He talks like he is a bureaucrat who changed careers to become a debate bro. He has all the charisma of a block of wood. He tried to make a joke about a little kid's artwork and it was... well it was pretty funny by his standards, I guess. He'd probably be far more effective as a researcher for someone who's actually charismatic in public speaking.
Ben also got blindsided by the USS Liberty question. In fact, he almost had a decent, if autistic response to it, and then started sperging about the questioner's motivations. Completely showed his ass there.
Frankly, the far better advocate for Israel was the freed hostage. His speech was excellent. Very inspiring.
