This is my only small gripe here. Stalin basically sent Vlasov and his soldiers to die in Stalingrad and he said fuck that. A very similar thing happened with Friedrich Paulus where Hitler explicitly gave him a suicide mission (once again, with Stalingrad) and Paulus refused, which enraged Hitler. Vlasov wasn't a loser, he was basically fed up with Stalin at that point.

Guys, this wasn't actually because of Trump, congress approved it already! He's just rebranding it!

The stipend bonus is thanks to the BBB, which is thanks to Trump. The argument that Politico makes is that the bonus money isn't actually tariff money because Congress hasn't approved using the tariff money for it. Let's ignore the fact that at any point a bill could be passed that immediately uses all tariff money to cover the cost of the bonus.

I hate modern journalists.

Edit: Part of their argument is that the purpose of the bonuses is to offset the cost of living due to the housing allowances that the US military provides. At the literal end of the article they note:

Troops who do not receive housing allowances may still be eligible for the bonuses.

So... it's not. Also worth noting that the bonus is only part of the total approved money for the housing allowance bonuses.
