They just closed four locations in middle Tennessee that were brand-new (opened 2024), almost a third or so of the locations they opened up there. A lot of fast food chains fail quickly...I've seen Arby's, Taco Bueno, Carl's Jr., Burger King, and a few others go from hero to zero in a few short years (if that) but never Whataburger.

Jack in the Box is on its way out I think. Back in the day they were some of the cheapest fast food you could get. Yeah the food was trash, but if you were a poorfag or drunk/stoned you could load up on a ton of food for less than $10
Nowadays their prices have skyrocketed. Except for their tacos which are still fairly cheap, their combo meals are close to what Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr are in price, and the quality of the food is even worse than it was before.

I see what you mean OP. However, these places can still make money as long as people allow these fast food slopplaces to charge that much for such a poor offering.
And it's not just in the US. Every single fast food chain in Yurop also charges a lot more while the quality and/or portion size are much worse. I had a big Mac and McNuggets jeet-delivered a few weeks ago (hadn't had any McD in over 2 years) it was a very unpleasant experience for such a high price. The big Mac was tiny and tasted like cardboard.
Unfortunately, some people still won't cook despite it all. And that's what is keeping these businesses afloat.

Yeah it's overall retardation. Sure you guys have Walmart fatties and so on, but the vast majority of fast food chains in Europe are Americans.
Except for a few ingredients being changed by the soy-based EU dictatorship, it's the same shit. I'd say it's even more expensive proportionally to income.

arby's has been going down the bankruptcy spiral for a while, every time i go there i remember when i told myself not to go there again. they have the meats but the portions are so small you can eat one of their sandwiches in 3-4 bites. curly fries are ok but they don't make up for it.
mcdick's is so fucking expensive now for what they're giving you, you know it's bad for you but you could put up with it when it was cheap and the portions were good. now if you want a decent meal you have to pay $20+ and sit in the drive-thru for 20 minutes. they're really trying to complete with sit-down places like applebee's or chili's which has better food at just about the same price. there's a local burger place that's just about the same distance that you know will taste better for the same price.
subway deserves to die based on quality and price. remember $5 footlongs and the jingle they'd drill into your brain 20 years ago? now it's like $12. fuck off. jersey mike's > everyone else.

Yeah, except Captain Ds exists with a million times better food.
I’m terrified of the day KFC dies because it’s the only fast food that still serves country/Sunday dinner/traditional vegetables anymore.

The only place worse than Subway is a bodega. Both are run by unhygienic third-worlders who can’t cook anything, but at least Subways have a corporate overlord that tries to enforce standards.
Doesn’t NYC have Jewish and Italian delis that can make a proper sandwich? Or have they all moved to Florida, leaving the three Americans left in the city with no good lunch food?

There is a Subway in my town and I'm sure the only reason it's still open is down to its relatively late close time. The local bakery that is a sub ten minute walk from the SW offers sandwiches that are bigger and better by every metric on top of peddling pizzas and pastries. Not even their beef sandwiches exceeds $10. You can add a good beer and a bag of Miss Vickie's chips for another $3.50 if you want; I bet subway wants the same cash for a small sugar water cup of mostly ice and inferior lays products.
Hmmmmm, do I want half cooked sugar "bread" with 40% filler "meat" and veg shipped from Mexico prepared by white trash, or toasted slices of proper sourdough topped with heirloom hog ham, cheese from the nearby dairy, and local Mennonite grown veg prepped by someone who is well kept?
But by four in the afternoon the bakery is out of loafs, pizza dough and pastries, so the subway persists. I cannot think of any other reason for them being able to stay even fractionally competitive.
I really want a ruben now. Fuck.
