Making machines is actually a huge chunk of what we do, for one, and plug & play factory equipment only works for some shit. A huge amount of it is custom built, hence in house engineers

But as far as making equipment, have you ever heard of Haas? Bridgeport?

We do make a surprising amount of heavy industrial machinery given how weak so many other sectors of our manufacturing are (1 factory making artilery barrels and dockyards making THREE(3) ships a year)

Its mostly rather small scale stuff though for the most part, think like, shop level drills, laser cutters and presses
 
If Tim Pool really did get shot, my first reaction would be the same as it was after Charlie Kirk. "Really? Him of all people?" Although in Tim's case it makes even less sense, he doesn't have any kind of political machine, he does not register voters, he is quite simply a grifter pundit lolcow, and there are way more racist sexist heckin' nazi versions of that I'd expect to catch a bullet sooner.

i don't work in manufacturing and i don't need too. the overwhelming majority of goods and products sold in the United States are manufactured overseas. that is an objective fact of reality.

why is this even an argument. we need more domestic production and that should be a good thing even if our trade deficit was in the positive.

this is extremely bad for venezuela. they are literally on the cusp of invasion, just had an oil tanker in their view STOLEN by a foreign power, and the only response their largest ally can give is "our condolences." that is probably sending maduro's stomach to the floor. that would make me sick if i was a dictator banking on my russian buddies getting my back when america starts getting rowdy.

because you wanted to make it one. but, i agree with you, and i think we all do. we all want more manufacturing in america now, and for it to stay in america for generations and generations more.
