Audiophiles - What speakers/headphones do you use?

I'm in need of a new set of speakers and headphones, and wondered what everyone's set-up is.

At the moment, I'm using these speakers, though they're pretty damn fucked at the moment. They're on their way out, considering just replacing it with another one of the same model actually because it was a pretty good set of speakers.

I've never been a headphone nerd, opting to using cheapy in-ear ones or the Turtle Beach ones I have as a headset. But we're getting moneys, so I thought I'd ask your guys for suggestions. I'm not gonna get crazy expensive ones like beatz, but yeah I wanna see what you guys use.
 
I've got a pair of Skullcandy earbuds that I've been using for a few years now. They're decent enough and the microphone on it works well enough as a headset for my phone. I kinda want to get some better earbuds eventually.

I use JVC XX headphones. They're really damn good headphones. Unfortunately, my foot got caught on the cord while it was plugged into my computer a few weeks ago, and bent the jack.

I was able to bend it back, but now sound only comes out of the left speaker.
 
Studio monitors: M-Audio AV40s
At home headphones: Sennheiser HD-280 Pro
Outside: $20 Panasonics because I can be rough on them and shove them in pocket/not care when they break

If you want something higher quality for at home use you need to go over-ear. AKG, Sennheiser, Sony, and Pioneer all have some good models that wont break your bank. Helpful hint: not ALWAYS, but usually it is the plainer simple brands that carry the highest quality headphones. In other words Beats By Dre are indeed shit and cut out all the mid frequencies.


If you think you will be moving around a lot with them and don't have room to carry around over-the-ear headphones I highly recommend getting a cheaper pair of Panasonic, JVH, or Skullcandy. Look on the back and make sure it has at least 20Hz on the low-end frequency spectrum. The lower the better, but 20Hz is more than acceptable for cheap buds.
 
I currently own a Razer Electra headphone. You guys know anyway to make the sound better? Nothing wrong with it as it is, but it could be cool to tweak it a little bit.
 
I'm actually looking into getting a pair of wireless headphones or a headset myself (I already have a headset but a wireless one would definitely be a lot easier for me since I could actually move around rather than have to stay in one spot. Having a pair of wireless headphones would make jogging or traveling a little bit easier as well when I'm trying to listen to music). Does anyone have any recommendations for them?

I've never had much luck with in-ear headphones lasting longer than 8 months though. The right ear always stops working and it's always the right ear. I could open them up and resolder the pair whose right headphone is fading out but it's not really worth it.
 
JVC makes amazing headphones that are really affordable. I've used them for as long as I can remember. I had a pair that lasted over five years (would have lasted longer except I kept tripping over the damn cord when it was plugged in!).
 
For headphones I use a Dynex DX-840

Thus far no problems. I adjusted to having a single earpiece pretty quickly and I doubt I'd ever go back.

The Microphone I use for recording is the Blue Snowball

Really nice microphone in general. Really reliable and has worked with most of my needs.

The one I use connects via firewire, but there's a version that connects via USB.

I have a pair of speakers from 2004/2005 that have lasted up 'til now, and they're pretty powerful. They are starting to fall apart, but that's age for you.

Never really liked headphones myself (too cumbersome, fiddly and uncomfortable for my tastes). Though I never really saw the appeal of ear buds either, so who am I to say.
 
My speakers are just some little Insignia-brand speakers that I've had for about 3 years now. Nice clear sound and not too expensive. As far as headphones go I have a pair of rasta Skullcandy earbuds. Sound is clear too and the bass is actually pretty powerful for being earbuds.
 
Personally I find the sonic quality of the music itself to be of greater importance than the earphones, but then I'm not entirely sure what my earbuds are. Samsung I think, and they were about 25 quid. They seem to do the job just fine.
 
Just got a pair of red Audio-Technica ATH-M50's in the mail the other day. I can't listen to anything below 256 kbps now because the artifacts are too off-putting.
