Sure, but not every person who has enlarged posterior ventricles is a schizo. They can be just old, they can have dementia, there is a plethora of different pathologies that gives you the left brain. if you reach 80 you will probably end up like this. Similarly, if you last to 80 you'll get amyloid plaques looking like a MS patient. Growing old sucks and unless you are very lucky or very careful your brain will turn to mush

Absolutely, being schizo just often speeds up the aging process of the brain. Even that isn’t 100% of the time, because the process is complicated and depends on a billion factors. But, there’s a good chance that a 40 year old schizo has a brain that looks worse than a lot of 80 year olds, because whatever it is, it’s degenerative.

It only gets worse, it never gets better, and the meds have horrible side effects like organ damage, and they only slow it down

Meanwhile, the schizo doesn’t like the fact that the meds fuck them up, so they tend to “forget” to take their meds in cycles that always end with a full ass psychotic episode

Next up, weed. It's gonna be tragic. I give it 10-15 years until the med community realise how much of a mistake legalisation was.

I disagree that the expanded ventricles are the underlying cause for the disorder which is what you seemingly imply. It’s a symptom of the disease not the underlying root cause. Especially since the ventricles are supposed to be there but are just enlarged (within parameters mind you just above average) this isn’t exactly a cause for alarm and immediate treatment by drainage.

Check what meds your mom’s taking. They’re probably dopamine antagonists. They prevent the overstimulation of neurons therefore preventing their early death.

I didn’t, I was being a smartass at that point.

I may have borrowed from potential assumptions, I may have not given a shit at that point about making accurate statements on account of preferring to make funny ones, but I concede that I left that impression

I’m off the case and she’s basically a palliative patient at this point. My sisters take turns taking care of her but I don’t because I have small children that I never want to experience what I had to.

She started treatment in the 1980’s and what they had back then was -bad-, but still, I feel like people really oversell the quality of modern antipsychotics. My sisters would have more informed opinions on specifics, but I have a lot of resentment from the messaging these days being “no biggie, the meds are so great these days, you’ll hardly notice being schizophrenic”

Maybe they keep the psychotic episodes at bay more effectively, with less side effects, but as long as the world has schizos in it, schizos will decide to “forget” to take their meds

Nuclear runoff isn't a thing. Water is an EXCELLENT moderator of radiation. You can swim 20 feet away from barrels of spent nuclear fuel rods and not even slightly increase your risk of cancer. Your average golf course is far more guilty of pumping mutagens into the water than any nuclear facility.
