He really is a Libertarian in the capital-L sense of the word. It's both what's admirable about him and what's annoying about him. He has principles in a postmodern world where principles are very much an antiquated concept.

Him and the other capital-Ls (Losers) need to realize their dream of an idyllic small government nightwatchman state is too fragile to survive with demographics like ours. Too many, too different groups are incentivized to compete with little to zero good will. The Federal government is too big, but the right wielding it to secure the country is infinitely better than to rest on one’s capital-L laurels and simply wait for power to switch hands again. This Libertarian reflex to reject the good-enough thing is really insidious. It’s a problem with a lot of the non-MAGA factions within the GOP that live on in the incumbent congressmen and Senators that held onto Trump’s coattails, not necessarily their constituents.

The State should be flexible to the needs of the people. Sometimes it can relax and leave the precious NAP inviolate, other times it needs to use force to black bag and eject undesirables. We live in a time that needs the latter.
