There are people who were in middle school when this first started and graduated from college by now, I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Correction:
Graduated college, got homes, vehicles, insurance, voting rights, had family or pets die, have had full time jobs for years at this stage, paid taxes for years, and started their own families.

This includes even the people who have played Alex's "game," like Pewdiepie for example.

The same time frame Alex has taken for this project; Pewdiepie alone has moved multiple times, made multiple games, made multiple collaborative projects, got married, traveled the world, got two dogs, have both dogs die, got two more dogs, had a baby, and now that kid is a toddler who able to walk and go to school.

That same amount of time is how long Alex has taken to just put in one rival.

The game will be finished by the time our great grandkids die at the rate Alex is going.

December 1 update (archive)
Hello!

Over the past 2 weeks, I spent a *lot* of time working together with Amai’s voice actress to record a massive number of voice lines; more than 50% of her dialogue is now recorded, and I’m hoping that the remaining 50% will be recorded over the next 2 weeks!
Now that I finally have a bunch of Amai voice lines to send to my animator, the next animations I’ll ask him to work on will all be related to Amai and her events with Senpai. You’ll finally start to see Amai’s week rising up to the same level of quality as Osana’s week!
In the meantime, while my animator was waiting for those voice lines to come in, he worked on something else – giving visuals to a cutscene that, for a very long time, has just been subtitles on a black screen. I’m SUPER happy with how it turned out; please check it out!!

New Geno Ending Cutscene

In my opinion, this is one of the most – if not THE most – impressive-looking cutscenes in the game, visually! I really hope that future cutscenes will be able to match this one in terms of quality!
For a list of everything else that was changed in the latest build, please scroll down past this artwork of Ayano dressed as the protagonist of Lollipop Chainsaw, illustrated by an artist named Ayano!

Improvements to Amai’s Week

Since Amai was released, I’ve been collecting feedback from players on various ways to improve her week. In this build, I implemented a handful of those improvements:
  • In Amai’s “re-unite with the Cooking Club” event, she will now speak individually to each member of the Cooking Club. Now it feels like she is actually interacting with them, instead of just talking in the direction of some lifeless mannequins. (The game will check if any member of the club is dead, and, if so, will skip over that part of the event.)
  • While Amai’s bake sale is going on, the posters around school will be replaced with posters advertising her bake sale.
  • The placards advertising Amai’s bake sale are now larger, and a few of them have been added in front of the school.
  • During Cleaning Time, Amai and the Cooking Club now clean the Home Ec room instead of cleaning their usual spots.
Plenty more improvements are planned, but these are the only ones I was able to implement over the past 2 weeks, since recording new voice lines for Amai took up a tremendous amount of time, and didn’t leave me with much time left over to do other things. (The process is a lot more complex than simply writing a script and sending it to an actress; I provide direction on the delivery and tone I want for each line, I review and critique every take, we iterate on each take until it’s finally perfect, etc.)
Those new voice lines haven’t been incorporated into the game in *this* build, but I think you can look forward to hearing a lot of new voice lines for Amai in the *next* build!

Fixes

  • If the player killed the leader of the gardening club, picked up the key that she dropped, saved, and loaded that save, an additional gardening shed key would spawn next to the gardening club leader’s corpse. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player saved and loaded the game while a bucket was attached to a woodchipper, the game would not properly understand what state to put the woodchipper into upon reloading the save. This is no longer possible.
  • If the player performed a Mission Mode mission involving any weapon that was added to the game after the scythe was added, the pause screen wouldn’t display the name of the weapon. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player was spotted misbehaving by a teacher, and then the teacher died immediately afterwards (due to electrocution, most likely), the game would softlock. This bug has been fixed.
  • In 1980s Mode, it was possible for the player to travel to school on Sunday by entering the Hardware menu and then choosing “Bring To School.” This bug has been fixed.
  • In the “Senpai is tied to a chair in Ayano’s basement” cutscene, Senpai’s blindfold was clipping through his hair. This oversight has been corrected.
  • If the player handed a “Puzzle Cube” to a student, the student would not drop the puzzle cube upon completing the puzzle. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player aimed their camera at Raibaru, Raibaru would fail to perform a “posing for camera” animation. This bug has been fixed.
  • It was possible to get stuck on some of the geometry in Ayano’s backyard. This bug has been fixed.

I don't mean to double post but it happened.

It finally happened.

The Patreon dropped below $1000.

Wonder how he'll respond to it. He doesn't really have the reach or means to turn the grifting dial up, and its almost certain he's been using the volunteer fund - I doubt he's gone through the effort of seperating funds, he just keeps a ledger, which is fine until money runs low like this. Its not like he used it effectively anyway, so to be honest, no real loss. But he's completely killed the momentum of his return to rival making that came with the kickstarter teaser. He's got no other marketable progress or hook to draw people with, the rival progress has been so slow as to be an antipromo, it indicates the game needs a decade, might as well wait for full release.

And remember, that kickstarter teaser setup was years ago. Archive.org is refusing to work for me, but he's still got the Focus section of his site, and still lists the kickstarter on there as something to do before steam release (lmao good luck) and after finishing more rivals. But the last update was almost two years ago now, Jan 4th 2024.

Hey, does anyone know of anyone who romanticizes High School? The way Yanderedev romanticizes High School is laughable. How do they compare?

I'm sure all of us here wouldn't want to relive High School. Just remember that Ryan Reynolds hated High School.

YanSim overall is simply a giant sunk-cost project of a dude who at first wanted to impress a bunch of anons on /v/, thus, it carries a lot of tropes that were initially intended to cater to that kind of audience. The man himself was homeschooled anyway, so his basis for that kind of experience almost entirely stems from anime. And it shows, hard.

It continues to amaze me that anyone is still giving him any money. The only conclusion I can draw from it is that these people must derive some amusement from watching this gravy train(wreck) continue to lurch on aimlessly.

Hey, does anyone know of anyone who romanticizes High School?
The japanese love High School because it's the last time in their entire lives they are free to do wathever and have adventures. After High School they're supposed to either work until they die or go to college to work until they die with a better pay. And God forbid you live enough to retire, now you're a burden to the entire society; should have worked until you died.

That's why the absolute majority of anime characters are high schoolers or early college adults, it's their escapist fantasy. Weebs absorb that shit and have the same idealization - despite high school sucking hard in the west and life actually improving when you're finally a functioning adult taking care of yourself.

Since YanDev is a weeb and his game is a weeb's fantasy, it's only natural how the game turned out. You can even give a poetic reason to the games's unfinished state: he can't finish the game because that means the end of his fantasy.

I can think of like, two people I know IRL, and they're both depressed fat women who still live in their parents house at 30, complete failures to launch, and yearn for the high school days when they'd get any level of attention from people and could play catty social drama bullshit with a captive audience.

Even the male failures I know don't yearn for high school, because it would get in the way of their current cycles of gooning and gaming. If anything, they hate those days more than their current state of miserable existence.

Hey, those people sound like a perfect YS fan material!

This is what I still don't get. Alex had all the time in the world to watch a ton of anime and become basically like that guy from Scream who knew all the plot twists of horror genre, yet his own fucking game is so bad at following anime tropes that it doesn't even have a yandere despite being called after one. How can one end up so bad at being a weeb?

The way Yanderedev romanticizes High School is laughable.
Because he thinks that if he actually was at high school he wouldn't be a permavirgin like he is today.

Actually, that's a good opportunity for all of you cunts to be useful for once. Please, help me in figuring out why Alex was actually homeschooled. Maybe I am missing something, but I don't remember him stating anywhere the exact reason why it happened. I think, Rommel stated in his video that it was because of bullying, but again I don't remember Alex stating neither that bullying was the reason nor that he was bullied to the extreme, the only thing I remember is that some kid borrowed his pokemon cards and refused to give them back, but come on, it is nothing. I also don't remember him stating that the reason was due to autism or anything else and honestly it doesn't make much sense. Autism shows itself since the first days of life, if Alex was actually that autistic, he would be homeschooled or attending special school since day one, not just for high school period. Also, come on, if he had the diagnosis, he would be using it as a shield since day one. Same for low IQ cluster - he would be at special ED, not homeschooled and I really doubt he would be able to graduate college and even do that miniscule amount of work he was doing at KFF. My memory isn't that good as it was, but if the reason indeed was never given, then the only explanation I have is that it was something that he doesn't want to admit, which for me only leaves one option - he did something inappropriate or was acting out and considering how edgy he was at 20 and even 30, I wouldn't be surprised if he told someone to off themselves or something like that. What do you think?
