So there is this hell hole called china that liberalized in the 70s through to 2013. There was a yuuge amount of economic growth.

Smart chinese understood that "politics" is sleeping but could wake up and they might be on the wrong side of it.

So they took as much money as they could and fled china to places like australia and canada, and even the UK. They took the money and put it into property there. A place where the goverment of china cant "steal" it back.

The goverments of those places enjoyed and welcomed the money coming in.

The US had the japanese buying up a shit ton of stuff only for their bubble to pop and they had to sell it.

As others have pointed out we can reduce the price of homes if we increase supply while reducing demand, aka kicking the illegals out.

Blacksonte (not blackrock) has a company called inventation homes that owns about 100,000 SFH

Most big buisness land lords are REITS that own city block sized complexes because again economies of scale

yeah and something else to remember is that at this exact time, the mature generation in the US was up its own ass

it takes two to tango. every ACCB, every corporate investor, bought property from an individual for whom their posterity was not a priority.

it's very easy, especially if you are a poor, to think about this giant transfer of landed property solely in terms of you personally being fucked over by international capital. but if you are able to transcend the misfortune of your personal circumstances and think about what happened, consider the fact that American property owners (ie not your family) were so uninterested in the fate of *their own children and grandchildren* that they sold out their own inheritance for pottage, over and over and over again.

if those people hadn't done this you might still be being exploited, but at least by actual humans who look like you and speak English.

I feel like Reddit was always soyboy central. Gamergate and the_donald just supercharged it.
There was a short period where it was "edgy" because it allowed libertarians and mens rights activists. That caused it to be targeted for takeover by the trannies at something awful who created "shit reddit says" and started spamming child porn and mass reporting to take it over.

You're right. I totally forgot the SA takeover. Thank you for pointing that out.

SA was such a dogshit website.

Man, that was a lifetime ago.

Weather retard here
First of all, that's a temperature anomaly chart that shows the difference between the historical average temperature for that day and the forecasted temperature.
Second of all, that's a forecast for 192 hours out from now. Deterministic models like this one are basically useless that far out.
We are probably not going to freeze :)

Here's a good talking point for USPG today. How many communists were involved in the early nuclear physics sector of the US? Was all the hatred Edward Teller got justified?
Dumb question. Communism was much more popular and socially acceptable back then. You’ll find Communists all over the place in that time period.

It really wasn’t until Solzhenitsyn’s book that Communism became lolbertarian level as far as (lack of) social acceptability.

Edward Teller wanted to create an atomic bomb with an immediate area of effect that was roughly the size of France and therefore did nothing wrong.
