Bullshit. Boomers are still voting to fuck themselves over because they think magic dirt will turn brown third worlders into productive tax payers. Can't convince those shitheads their ponzi schemes aren't going to last.
California of all places voted 60% for a proposition that would have cracked down on illegals and denied them all benefits. California did that, and only thirty years ago. Then the fucking courts overturned it. So no, actually we never really voted for any of our current major problems. Just like with Prop 187, the will of actual Americans was defied time and time again from above in order to rape and exploit the country.

The "barbarians" who conquered rome were basically just romans who lived in formerly barbarian lands.
No, they weren't. The Goths originate in what is now Romania and Ukraine, far outside the Roman Empire (Slavs wouldn't take over for a few centuries yet). They made constant war on the Romans until a peace settlement in the 4th century. Some of them got incorporated into the Roman Empire in the late 4th century and enrolled into the army. This situation only lasted a short while until Alaric I's revolt at the turn of the 5th century.

At least some portion of the Gothic leaders knew Latin (not knowing Latin in the 4th century is like not knowing English in the 21st), and when they conquered the Roman Empire, they attempted to maintain some amount of continuity with the government they displaced, continuing to govern the conquered people using the common language they all spoke, Latin, minting Roman-style coins, and so on. But, as the average rank-and-file Goths themselves spoke Gothic tongues, Germanic words crept into what became Italian, French, and Spanish. Surviving artifacts and inscriptions reveal a people that was decidedly foreign. Examples of Gothic spearheads and a translation of the Bible by a Visigothic bishop.

It's true that they fought in formation, wearing comparatively modern armor, rather than like naked madmen, but they were simply not "Romans returning home" in any sense whatsoever.

As for the claim that Alaric and his buddies marched into Rome because they were upset at how much it had degenerated due to immigration, this is a well-documented conflict of the ancient world. To make a long story short, the few Goths incorporated into the Roman Empire were mad about how they were being used as cannon ballista fodder. Alaric decided things would be better if he was in charge. So he led a revolt.

By the fall of rome, the city of rome was being barbarianized while the barbarians who conquered it had been Romanized.
Anatolia and Libya weren't "barbarian" by any stretch of the imagination. Prior to the Muslim conquests, North Africa and Anatolia were crown jewels of civilization.

I've heard an interesting AH theory, that the Roman Empire would have reformed without Islam.

If Prop 187 is illegal, then Prop 50 should be as well.

Some more details about the immolation on the Chicago L train last week. We know that the victim was a white woman (Bethany MaGee) and the perpetrator was a black man, but there are a couple other eerie similarities between this incident and what happened to Iryna Zarutska.

-White woman minding her own business on the train, on her phone.
-Sneak attack by crazy black man.
-No bystanders jump in to help. It's winter weather in Chicago, everyone is in coats, and no one could even be bothered to throw their coat on this poor woman. It wasn't until she somehow managed to stumble off the train and onto the platform that two bystanders helped her. We don't know the race of the bystanders on the train or on the platform, but I can take a wild guess.

Interesting that in both cases the attackers were black men who were allegedly too mentally incompetent to serve time for their lengthy list of previous crimes, but present of mind enough to attack much smaller white women. It's hard not to feel like they're hunting us at this point. Ladies, for the love of God, take your ear buds out and stay vigilant when in public.

Duffy identifies Chicago train victim as 26-year-old Bethany MaGee while blasting city's 'carelessness'

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy identifies victim as 26-year-old Bethany MaGee, criticizes city's crime policies

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy identified the woman set on fire aboard a Chicago train as 26-year-old Bethany MaGee, who suffered severe burns in the attack.

Duffy blasted the city’s lax crime policies, saying the attack, allegedly carried out by a career criminal with 72 prior arrests, never should have happened.

"It is devastating that a career criminal with 72 PRIOR ARRESTS is now accused of attacking 26-year-old Bethany MaGee on Chicago’s L train and setting her on fire," Duffy said on X. "This would never have happened if this thug had been behind bars. Yet Chicago lets repeat offenders roam the streets.

"Chicago’s carelessness is putting the American people at risk," he continued. "No one should ever have to fear for their lives on the subway."

Authorities said the alleged attacker, 50-year-old Marcus Reed, has spent decades cycling through the criminal justice system and was out on bond at the time of the assault. Reed has been charged with committing a terrorist attack or violence against a mass transportation system, according to the criminal complaint.

Federal prosecutors allege that Reed intentionally used gasoline and a lighter to set MaGee on fire aboard a CTA Blue Line train at about 9:30 p.m. Monday.

U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Andrew Boutros said the woman was "minding her own business and reading her phone" while seated in the middle of the train car when Reed approached her from behind, doused her head and body with gasoline, and tried to ignite the liquid.

The woman ran to the back of the car as he ignited the rest of the liquid in the bottle and then used it to light her on fire, according to the complaint.

Video allegedly showed Reed watching the woman, engulfed in flames, as she tried to put out the fire by rolling on the floor.

Boutros said as the woman was rolling on the ground, desperately trying to put out the fire, no one came to her aid.

When the train stopped at Clark and Lake, the complaint noted the victim, who was still on fire, managed to exit before collapsing on the platform.

"When she finally stumbled down, two Samaritans came and put out the blaze that was all consuming her," Boutros said.

She suffered severe burns to her face and body and remains in critical condition, according to authorities.

Prosecutors obtained photos showing Reed at a gas station about 20 minutes before the attack, where he was seen entering the store, paying the cashier and filling a small container with gasoline.

Other images showed Reed inside the train holding a flaming bottle as he approached the victim.

Reed allegedly exited the train after setting the woman on fire and walked away.

During Reed’s first appearance in federal court Wednesday, he allegedly shouted, "I plead guilty, I plead guilty, I plead guilty."

U.S. Magistrate Judge Laura McNally asked him if he knew the maximum sentence was life in prison, to which he responded, "It’s cool, it’s cool, it’s cool."

Following the hearing, ATF Special Agent in Charge Chris Amon commented on Reed’s violent criminal history and pending cases, adding he "had no business being on the streets."

"Reed had plenty of second chances from the criminal justice system, and as a result, you have an innocent victim in the hospital fighting for her life," Amon said. "Because of the swift action of CPD, ATF and our law enforcement partners, there will be no other chances for Mr. Reed."

McNally suggested a mental and medical evaluation, though Boutros noted Reed had not been declared mentally incompetent in connection with any of his prior charges.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Bond said Friday that Reed has spent 32 years cycling through the criminal justice system, beginning around age 18. He’s been arrested 72 times and has eight felony and seven misdemeanor convictions.

Records show Reed has a lengthy criminal history, including a charge of felony aggravated arson from April 2020, after he allegedly started a fire at the Thompson Center, where Gov. J.B. Pritzker was holding a daily COVID-19 briefing.

He also faced misdemeanor battery charges for punching multiple women in the face, seemingly at random, and slapping a 42-year-old man in the face at the Halsted CTA Blue Line platform, FOX 32 Chicago reported.

In August, Reed was charged with aggravated battery after allegedly assaulting a woman at a psychiatric hospital, CWB Chicago reported. Despite prosecutors’ request to keep him detained, he was released with an ankle monitor.

Edited to add Bethany's name outside of the spoiler.

"When she finally stumbled down, two Samaritans came and put out the blaze that was all consuming her," Boutros said.
And you guys were mad about all the immigrants. Just think: without those nice people from Samarita, that woman wouldn’t still be alive right now.

But seriously, stories like this fill me with so much rage I have trouble seeing straight.

People should be made aware that the Arabs and Turks squat on the ruins of long bygone peoples and try to get tourists to come see them. Look at what has become of places like Leptis Magna, Thysdrus and Constantinople. Perhaps it's a little tragic to think about but that's just the current state of things.

what still makes me mad over that.

Is the courts said immigration is a federal issue and the feds have to inforce the law.

The Feds had political will not to enforce those laws.

Now that there is a federal will to enforce the law, the courts are ruling how the feds dont have that authority

I hope to god birth right citizenship goes away please give us that.

Liberals need to understand some cultures are just not compatible with a productive society.

It’s like, they think a bunch of lazy disabled troons from Africa with AIDS who refuse to work is a good thing and benefits society.

1. India - no benefit to society.

2. Venezuela - same thing.

how can they not understand this? Legit, go to the Costco once, libs.

One interesting aspect of the post-Roman Visigoth kingdom is that they actually segregated themselves from their Hispano- and Gallo-Roman subjects (primary ancestors of today's Spanish/Portuguese and Occitans/Catalans) by law, which served to protect their distinct ethnic and religious identity (the Visigoths were mostly Arian heretics while the Romans were Chalcedonians, that is, unified Catholic-Orthodox). They lived in their own castle towns apart from the Romans (who dominated the old urban centers), had their own courts & laws (the leges barbarorum), and definitely didn't quite see themselves as 'Roman' even as they did try to ape the better parts of Roman governance & incorporated Gallo/Hispano-Romans into their administration. Most other barbarians, such as the Burgundians who holed up in what's now east-southeast France, did much the same.

The Visigoths did drop both the Arianism & the legal segregation from the Roman underclass later, which had the effect of basically assimilating them into Chalcedonian Roman society. By the time of the Muslim conquest even King Roderic probably only spoke Gothic in private conversation with trusted friends & family, and a century after said conquest it was basically already dead (implying that even Pelayo of Asturias, despite being literally the last Visigoth nobleman of any influence left standing, saw no use in preserving it as opposed to completely adopting the Latin & proto-Spanish speech of his few remaining subjects).

Barbarian conversions from Arianism to Chalcedonianism/Catholicism make a lot of sense if you view such conversions as decisions by their king & society to abandon their barbaric heritage in favor of fully immersing themselves in Christian-Roman civilization, which had the additional effect of re-consolidating the Roman or rather, Romance-ness of their kingdoms (which always had a majority Romanized or literally Roman - Gallo-Roman, Hispano-Roman, Italo-Roman, etc. - populace; the one place where such a population didn't exist, Britain, ceased being 'Roman' in any meaningful way in about a century after the fall). Hence modern Romance languages like French, despite being named after the barbs who conquered that particular corner of the empire, are a lot closer to Latin and to one another than they are to the Germanic tongue of the conquering barbarians (IIRC, in that particular case, only about 10% of modern French words come from Old Frankish).

Alas I doubt, say, today's Minnesotan Somalis are even half as interested in America and 'Americanism' (much less inclined to preserve it in the event of an apocalyptic societal collapse tomorrow) as the non-Saxon barbs...
