For someone who craves attention, sympathy, and validation not using her mom’s death for ass pats is insane.
Come, let's blather on together.
I think when people use the word "delusion" for Anna they are not far off. When she writes (or uses AI to write) the mind blowing shit we see in social media, she believes it. But it's because she is coping terribly with some severe contradictions she lives by.
If she acknowledges mom's death, she must acknowledge why mom died. From what I gather, mom died pretty young due to fat/ beetus related illness. When Anna had that blog and was more lucid and in touch with reality, she grappled with that and it gave her internal conflict.
Well, the conflict is gone. She has convinced herself that she can live like a deathfat but all related consequences are due to something else she has yet to discover. Why is she so married to living like a deathfat? Because all of her coping strategies are food related. And as we saw in her blog, they are also the traditions passed onto her by her family. She has to say bye to family and the most familiar comforts all at once. At some point she decided it wasn't happening. Maybe too painful. Maybe a better, more convenient explanation came around - HAES.
So why do I think delusion is the right word? Because we are truly several degrees detached from the reality of overeating, of mom's death, of why mom died, of why Anna is at risk herself. She truly believes there is some other explanation for why she is so unwell.
She isn't saying yes enough!
Clothing companies have inconsistent sizing!
Endless genetically predetermined, out of her control medical conditions!
Faulty and rogue body which acts as its own agent, separate from her will and intentions!
It's not malicious in order to fool her followers or haters or whoever else. She must believe it is anything but deathfat lifestyle, or... She will be forced to reckon with saying goodbye and the pain that will come of that.
It's temporary pain, but when you spend so long avoiding something it seems insurmountable.
Anyway - if she wants to emotionally cash out on mom's death, she is forced to address all that. And she won't. She can't. But Anna will cash out on everything else which (she believes) explains why she is treading the same dark path as mom, blindly waddling forward until she drops down a cliff to join her.
