I actually was hoping to get more clarity on this site tbh because it's just the way I feel about the situation, like I'm getting some kind of bad vibes from the dude in question. But maybe I am wrong? Who knows

So basically, the new YS build had a new VA for Taro. He doesn't even sound like the previous one, more like Alex in disguise (not him, unfortunately, because it would be funny). So, few weeks later and boom, the whole Reddit is buzzing about how the guy was doxxed and now he is leaving YS community because he doesn't feel safe or smth like that.

The reddit post about him quitting
His quitting video

When asked why was he volunteering for Alex in the first place, his answer was always smth like - "oh, my son likes the game, and I didn't know anything about Alex", that usual stuff.

Now he is lurking the depths of r/Osana and r/Ryoba or whatever they called, participating in every discussion that somewhat touches him or not
Examples are too many to count
Here
Here
Here

And so on. Also, there is a fake doxxer, apparently, who's been claiming Jaron (the VA) is a pedo, but there are no evidences of that.

Maybe I am confused and shitty myself, but hmm.

Now that the Cultcow prefix is gone, should I change this thread's prefix back to Careercow, or should I switch it to Horrorcow?
Careercow probably fits better since his relevancy essentially stemmed from Yansim's dumpster fire before the grooming shit started coming out. I'm a little on the fence about it considering that he's now been outed for it on 3 different occasions, but compared to some of the other incredibly fucked up Horrorcow tags I'm not sure if he'd warrant it holistically. Apparently Horrorcow has been gettng kind of oversaturated recently.

As someone who has suffered through Alex's history for long enough, yes, Alex has always been bad at what he was doing. His attempts at catching similarities between RahXephon and Evangelion were laughed at and ridiculed, he was a terrible streamer who managed to lose his viewerbase twice in a span of a year and his other "games" were utterly destroyed by Mike Z and 4chan, YS being an exception for the latter since he started pandering to their sick fetishes instead of his own.

Don't get me wrong, he is a delusional pedo degenerate with a set of ideas that "excuse" his behavior, but that is mentioned in the thread title.

Now that the Cultcow prefix is gone, should I change this thread's prefix back to Careercow, or should I switch it to Horrorcow?
To be fair, it had one just because Nool had another spite episode. Alex has never had particularly invested followers here, yes, me included, I just had some free time and wanted to update thread's OP since its creator fucked off from the website before finishing it, it was incredibly outdated and plain on wrong on many things.

I'd like horrorcow because y'know, oooh spooky but careercow fits more.

October 16 update (archive)
Hey there! Got a new build for you! I’ll just let you know in advance that it’s not a massive, earth-shattering, life-changing build; I just wanted to make sure that the latest build of the game contains all of the most recent bug fixes and whatnot.

Hey, guess what? October 10th, a few days ago, was Ryoba’s birthday! Happy Birthday, Ryoba! To read a list of everything that was added/changed/fixed/improved in the latest build, scroll down past this lovely birthday artwork of Ryoba by Seina!

Did you think I was done sharing birthday artwork? Nope! Please enjoy another birthday illustration by Yana!

Draining the School Pool

Previously, if the player killed a rival by drowning her in the school pool, it was impossible to access the rival’s corpse and dispose of it. But, starting in this build…

…it is now possible to use a button prompt in the Pump Room to drain the pool and retrieve the rival’s corpse!

Presently, the rival’s corpse simply teleports to the player’s feet, and the pool automatically re-fills itself. This is not the intended final functionality of this feature, but that’s the way it’ll be for now.

New Voice Acting

Various characters who previously lacked a voice now have a voice!

  • The “Mystery Man” – the grey-haired old guy in the building under construction in Amai’s stealth mission – now has voice lines.
  • Of the four security guards patrolling in Amai’s Befriend/Betray stealth mission, three now have voice acting.
  • Ajia now has a voice line when telling Ayano what she knows about Amai’s social media.

Improvements

  • I’ve updated Yandere Simulator to the latest version of Unity, which appears to have improved the framerate somewhat. You are welcome to compare the framerate you got on the previous build with the framerate you get on the latest build (in the same situations, of course) and let me know if you observe a noticeable improvement.
  • The photographs of Osana that Ayano stares at during the “Plan how to eliminate Osana” cutscene now look like candid photographs taken in secret while Osana was in town, rather than photographs taken 2 inches away from Osana’s face at school.
  • When incinerating duffel bags in the asylum, any duffel bag you’ve already incinerated will no longer be highlighted in Yandere Vision, allowing you to more easily keep track of which ones you have / haven’t incinerated.
  • The gift shop in town had one of the worst textures in the game (I made it). It has been replaced with a new texture that looks much better. Also, the store’s texture is different in 1989 and 202X!
  • Some of the more recent Content Checklist icons have been updated to more closely match the style of the original icons. You’ll gradually see more icons getting replaced over the next few updates.
  • The transparency effect on Akane’s feather accessory didn’t look correct, so it has been replaced with a new model/texture that doesn’t use transparency.
  • Amai’s phone now has a “Mom is calling” graphic on it during her phone call with her mother.
  • Replaced the icon for the 1980s Mode “fix my painting” Task.
  • The monster in the “Origin Dream” now has animation.
  • Reiichi now has hair physics.

Bugs

  • If the player drowned a student, dismembered them, and the police were called to school, the police investigation sequence would describe the police “discovering a drowned student” instead of discovering dismembered body parts. This bug has been fixed.
  • In the Custom Mode menu, if the player assigned a custom uniform to male students and then tried to return back to normal uniforms, the normal uniforms would retain custom uniform textures. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player activated a Vtuber mode and then went to town on Sunday, the protagonist would look like a fusion of Ryoba and the Vtuber, instead of looking like the Vtuber. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, if the player gave a male student one of the “suitor hairs” and then changed the gender of a rival, the student with the suitor hair would become bald. This bug has been fixed.
  • In the Kokona Tutorial, if the player was performing a “cleaning bloody weapon” animation while a tutorial ended, Ayano would not appear at the tutorial menu screen. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, if the player designed a student with any of the new Student Council hair models, the hair model would appear invisible in the student’s portrait. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player bumped into Sonoko and caused Sonoko to shove them while Sonoko was putting a love confession note into a locker, her pathfinding would break. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player took a photograph of the TV in the Gaming Club, the animation playing on the TV would continue to play, even in the photograph. This bug has been fixed.
  • The lenses of Kuroko’s glasses were tinted black in her student profile picture, making her appear to be wearing sunglasses. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player disabled outlines and then entered one of Kokona’s tutorials, student outlines would return. This bug has been fixed.
  • The whiteboards in the rival bakery were using the wrong model and texture. This oversight has been corrected.
  • Fixed typos in Shoku’s Task subtitles.
  • Fixed typos in Amai’s Task subtitles.

Huh? That’s it?

Well, yes and no! I recently received a lot of new voice lines for various characters (Amai, Inkyu, and some other characters that you probably wouldn’t expect to be getting new voice lines), but their lines were delivered very close to the build deadline, so I didn’t actually have the time to include them in this build. They’ll probably be in the next build, though!

My animator had computer problems over the past 2 weeks, so no new animations got included in this build. However, now that his computer problems have been resolved, hopefully we’ll see some great animations in the next build!

Bottom-of-Blog-Post Fan Spotlight

A fan of the game going by the name of nichaanan20908 cosplayed as Kijiyose Aishi, one of Ayano’s ancestors from the 1800s!

I think she captured the character’s design very accurately! It always makes me super excited and happy when people show appreciation for the game’s more obscure characters!

Pokémon Stream

And now, at the very bottom of the blog post, I’m going to sneak in a tiny bit of self-promotion!

It’s extremely rare for me to ever take a day off; my last break was over a month ago, back on August 28th. These days, I only take a day off when a new game comes out that I’ve been anticipating for a long time…and today is one of those days!

Later today, I plan to stream Pokémon Legends: Z-A! I ordered the physical version of the game, and I plan to stream it as soon as my copy arrives. That might be as early as 2:00 PM in the PST timezone. (If the game doesn’t arrive until super late in the day, then, instead of streaming it today, I’ll simply stream it tomorrow, instead.) If you’re interested, you’re welcome to visit my Kick stream at https://kick.com/yanderedev – I hope to see you there!

October 20 bug fixing build (archive)
There was a super-obvious bug in the previous build that nearly every player was guaranteed to encounter, so I’ve decided to release a bug-fixing build that resolves that issue, fixes a bunch of other bugs, and also includes a handful of other changes.

To read a list of everything that was added/changed/fixed/improved in the latest build, scroll down past this cosplay video by rolidollx, who has been posting tons of amazing Yandere Simulator TikToks lately!

It was difficult to pick a single video to share, because all of her stuff is great! Go check it out!

New Unity Version…Again

The previous version of Unity had a bug that sporadically caused parts of the Unity interface to disappear. This was driving me crazy! I’ve updated to the latest version of Unity. Updating always carries a risk that something will break – but I tested the game, and didn’t see any new errors popping up in the Console Log or find any new bugs, so I think that everything is okay.

By the way – the latest version of Unity (6.2) added some new “Diagnostics” features, so I’ve decided to do something that I’ve never done before:

Enabling Analytics

Occasionally, I’ll discuss Yandere Simulator with a company interested in partnering with me to finish the game. These companies usually ask very similar questions, and almost always start with this one:

How many people play Yandere Simulator?
Up until now, I never attempted to measure this. In the early days of the game’s development, I could sort of tell how many people were playing the game by watching the download number go up. However, Mediafire’s download count changed from a number to the word “many,” and my website and MEGA don’t make that information easy to discover, so for a long time, I haven’t been tracking downloads at all.

Many developers include some sort of “analytics” in their game. What does that mean? It means that, whenever you play a game, the game is keeping track of various things and reporting that information to the developers: How many times have you launched the game? On average, how long do you play for? What part of the game did you stop playing at? Developers use this information to tweak aspects of their game. If everyone is quitting at the same part, developers release a patch to make that part easier. If a new addition to the game has made people play more often and play longer, developers will consider making more additions like that; etc.

However, I’ve never bothered with any of that stuff; I ever even thought about it. But, it’s probably pretty important for me to be able to answer one very basic question: “How many people even play my game?” Being able to answer that question is pretty important if I want to have a meaningful conversation about Yandere Simulator with a company that lasts longer than 5 minutes.

So, for the first time, I’ve clicked the “Enable Analytics” button, and from now on, my Unity Developer Dashboard should be showing me useful numbers such as daily new users, daily active users, session length, sessions per user, etc.

I don’t really think of Yandere Simulator as something that has “daily users,” though. I imagine Yandere Simulator as a project that you check in on twice a month, rather than something you play daily. “Daily users” strikes me as a concern for online games, not for an in-development single-player game that is periodically updated with new content like Yandere Simulator.

Ah, well. Maybe this will lead somewhere. Or not. Who knows. I guess what I’m saying is, if you notice that the latest build of Yandere Simulator is suddenly using accessing the Internet while no previous build ever did that, now you know why.

New Voice Acting

Two additions this time:

  • The cutscene where Amai and Taro talk as they walk to school now features voice acting! (Also, I re-wrote the dialogue a little bit.)
  • Previously, the security guards in Amai’s befriend/betray stealth mission did not have a voice line for reacting to Ayano attempting to pickpocket them. Now they do!

Improvements

  • Updated Himari’s hair model.

Fixes

  • If the player attempted to attend class without disposing of a bloody weapon, a warning would appear informing the player that if they attended class, the bloody weapon would be discovered and the police would be called. However, the game would completely ignore the weapon and allow the player to go to class. This bug has been fixed.
  • There was some kind of strange, inconsistent bug that would sometimes prevent the player from being able to walk out of their bedroom after opening their bedroom door. I believe that I’ve fixed the bug, but because it was so inconsistent and wouldn’t always trigger, I cannot know for certain.
  • If the player attacked Raibaru while she was investigating a weapon dropped on the ground, the player would enter the “being countered by Raibaru” state, but Raibaru would ignore the player and continue reacting to the dropped weapon. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player maneuvered Ayano in juuuust the right way, it would be possible to walk on top of the decorative strip where the wall meets the floor in Ayano’s home, or walk on top of the table that holds the TV in the living room. This is no longer possible.
  • At the beginning of the Kokona Tutorial, when the camera was zooming in, if the player interrupted the zoom-in by pressing a button, the camera would snap to the incorrect position instead of the correct position. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player electrocuted Osana and Raibaru while they were hugging, only Raibaru would die, and Osana would just start walking around while being recognized as a corpse by anyone she passed by. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player splashed liquid onto a phone addict and then alarmed them after their shower but before they retrieved their phone, the student’s phone would teleport back into their hand. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player used the “Censor Blood” option, wore a raincoat, and dismembered a corpse, blood would appear, even though it wouldn’t appear outside of that hyper-specific circumstance. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player kidnapped Raibaru and brought her to school as a mind-broken slave, Raibaru would stand up and attempt to pathfind to Osana when an Osana+Raibaru event began. This bug has been fixed.
  • At both the title screen and the school plaza, it was possible for water ripple effects to spawn slightly outside of the fountain at the center of the plaza. This visual glitch has been fixed.
  • If the player dropped a suspicious item on the ground to lure Amai away from her bento, Amai’s bento would clip inside of the plaza fountain, becoming inaccessible. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player was caught by a student council member while heating up the occult ritual knife with a blowtorch, the player would not enter the “caught” animation. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player activated the blood censor, saved the game at school, then loaded that save, weapons would turn solid grey after being used to attack a victim. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player stole Musume’s phone and let her find it on a day when a student memorial happened at school, Musume would write graffiti on her own desk. This bug has been fixed.
  • Custom Mode’s “Replace Club Leader Dialogue With Your Own Custom Dialogue” feature wasn’t working for the Newspaper Club. This bug has been fixed.
  • One of the garbage bag boxes in school made a sound effect when picked up, but the other one didn’t. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player used the dance machina while corpses were present at school, bugs would occur. This is no longer possible.
  • Fixed error in Homu’s subtitles.

Hey, about that hair model…

As you can see by looking above, the purpose of this build was to provide bug fixes. I wasn’t focusing on implementing new content; only stabilizing the game. I always prioritize bug fixes over adding new content, because you wouldn’t be able to enjoy any new content if were are a bunch of critical bugs ruining the experience.

Since the focus of this build was bug fixes, almost no other changes were made to the game in this update. Aside from the voice acting, I only made one other change: replacing a hair model. Of course, instead of interpreting that information as, “He fixed a bunch of bugs, and also gave us a new hair model as a bonus!” I’m sure that the preeminent interpretation will be, “This new build contains absolutely nothing except one new hair model!” That’s just how the Internet works, sadly.

I understand that the replacement of a hair model begs a question: “Why? Why replace that hair model?” Well, of course, the question won’t be asked like that. Instead, it’ll be phrased more like, “Oh my god! He’s prioritizing stupid and unnecessary things! Why did he spend precious development time replacing a hair model? Nobody even cares! Focus on the rivals, instead!”

To prevent misunderstandings, I’ll explain:

The guy who modeled Himari’s hair started getting harassment from people who wanted to shame him for supporting Yandere Simulator. He contacted me and asked me to remove his model from the game, in the hopes that doing so would stop the harassment.

Himari’s hair model wasn’t replaced because I think that replacing hair models should be my highest priority. It was replaced because I respect the wishes of the modeler who wanted his work removed. This is, 99% of the time, the reason why you’ll see me write “Updated (X)’s hair” in a blog post.

I’ve said this before, but I want to say it again: I do not wake up in the morning and think, “Ah, time to spend dozens of hours replacing the hair models of unimportant characters!” rather, I wake up in the morning and think, “I wonder what unnecessary drama people will create and insert into my life today?”

While I’m on the subject, I may as well mention one other thing: It only takes 30 seconds to replace a hair model. The simple act of drag-and-drop-replacing a hair model does not steal hours of my time, nor does it slow down the game’s development. It’s not something you need to freak out about.

Bottom Line: If you burn with rage and write angry comments whenever you see “Updated (X)’s hair model” in the changelog…please reconsider the way that you spend your time. Consider the possibility that perhaps you shouldn’t derive your opinions from online echo chambers full of hateful people who interpret anything I do in a comically negative way, serving no purpose but to create an atmosphere that normalizes harassment.

It's Halloween season so I went down memory lane and looked up Mystery Skulls animated videos. On the Hellbent video, I spotted a comment that has thousands of likes that says "Still updates faster than Yandere Simulator." I thought it'd be funny to share. Granted it's been years since the last Mystery Skulls video so I don't know how well this comment aged but the creator Ben Mangum or his online alias Mystery Ben does post updates on his pages like Patreon.

The joke about the sun exploding before this beging finally finished honestly doesn't look like a joke anymore

Happy Halloween! (archive)
The time has come! Get ready for another…

If you’re new around here, I’ll provide a brief introduction: every year, on Halloween, I post two dancing skeletons and release a simple game. Sometimes I add a new minigame to Yandere Simulator, and sometimes I release a small standalone game that is completely disconnected from Yandere Sim. These games usually contain horror-themed or Halloween-themed elements, but there have been a handful of exceptions.

I understand that some of you might want this year’s minigame to be a complete surprise, and that you might want to experience it firsthand instead of have it spoiled for you through a blog post. Out of consideration for those of you who want it to be a surprise, I won’t describe the exact nature of the minigame until the bottom of this blog post; directly underneath the fan art in this post, I’ll only tell you the information you need in order to access the minigame.

If you’d like to find out how to unlock the minigame – and also read the changelog for the latest build – scroll down past this beautiful Halloween artwork by an artist known as Ayano Aishi!

First, to get into the Halloween spirit, I’ll share some recent Halloween-themed fan art.

From spaceycherry, we’ve got this adorable artwork of Hanako!

And from McKeyosya, we’ve got this outstanding illustration of Oka cosplaying up as Sadako from The Ring!

Amazing art – I love it so much!!

Now that we’re all warmed up and ready for something spooky, I’ll tell you how to access this year’s Halloween minigame…

Unlocking the Minigame

A mysterious USB stick has appeared at school!

Well, it’s not actually mysterious; if you grab it while Gema Taku is nearby, he’ll tell you exactly what it is, and invite you to take it home. Once you’re in your home at night…well, the rest really should be obvious!

If you’d like to know more about the contents of that USB stick and why such an addition was made to the game, scroll down to the bottom of this blog post. But, first, I’ll tell you about all of the other additions that were made to the game in this build. Starting with…

More Voice Lines and Animations

Amai now has animations to accompany each of her Task voice lines!
https://youtube.com/watch?v=A-GvJyyTgi0
The above video only shows off 4/6 of Amai’s Task animations; if you’d like to see her animation for “the player has refused her request” or “the player has completed her request,” you’ll have to play the game yourself.

That’s not the only Amai-related addition to this build, though; Amai’s Monday Lunchtime event with Senpai now has voice acting and animation!

(If you notice audio distortion problems, don’t worry – those will be fixed in the next update.)

Currently, the “sabotaged” version of the event does not have voiceover or animation. Hopefully, that addition will be made in the next build.

Additionally, several other characters now have new voice lines:

  • Kenko’s Task is now voiced
  • Seiyo’s Task is now voiced
  • Kenko and Seiyo now have voice lines when Ayano talks to them about Amai’s social media.
Note: Saki was supposed to have a voice line when Ayano talked to her about Amai’s social media, but, due to a bug, her voice line isn’t playing. Sorry; that’ll be fixed in the next build.

Unique Hair Models for 1989 Rival Delinquent Gang

One of the things that made me think, “Yuck, this makes the game look so low-budget!” is the fact that the enemy delinquents in the 1989 delinquent beat-em-up game were using the same hair models as the 202X delinquents. This really bothered me, so those delinquents now have unique hair models!

I’m much happier with their appearances now!

Improvements

  • The Week Select screen now has music – for both 202X Mode and 1980s Mode.
  • Updated the 1989 “POOL’S CLOSED” artwork.

Fixes

  • If the player gives a student a headache, that student becomes “Distracted” and ignores certain actions (such as the player holding a weapon). However, if the player gave a student a headache, waited until the student was sitting on a bench in the infirmary, saved, and then loaded that save, that student would no longer be “distracted” and would react to things they shouldn’t have been reacting to. This bug has been fixed.
  • To prevent bugs from happening, delinquents will no longer react to corpses while walking through the shower building until after they’ve put their clothing on. (Official in-universe reasoning: The steam in the shower building is very thick, obstructing their vision, so they can’t really see anything in there.)
  • If the player started a new game, went to school, saved, then returned to the title screen, deleted that profile, started a new game in the same slot as the old profile, went to school, and loaded the save file they had created, bugs would occur. This is no longer possible.
  • If the player purchased blonde hair dye, played the Miyuki minigame, then exited the minigame, Ayano’s hair would be blonde, even though the blonde hair dye she ordered couldn’t possibly have arrived at her home yet. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player repeatedly mashed the “skip to next line of dialogue” button during the cutscene where Toga congratulates Ryoba for defeating the delinquent gang, Toga would repeat one animation over and over. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player wore gloves, saved, loaded that save, walked away from the location where they created that save, and removed their gloves, the gloves would teleport to the place where the save was made. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player has dyed Ayano’s hair blonde, her hair would not appear blonde in the “Stalking Senpai as he walks to school” cutscene, or the “Cooking food after eliminating Amai” cutscene. this bug has been fixed.
  • In the beat-em-up minigame, delinquents’ heads and bodies were not using the same shader, leading to their lighting/shading looking different from their heads to their bodies. This oversight has been corrected.
  • If the player has customized Ayano’s hairstyle using the vanity at home, her customized hair would not appear in the “Stalking Senpai as he walks to school” cutscene. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player stepped in a puddle of blood and walked around, leaving bloody footprints, and then activated the blood censor, the bloody footprints would not be censored. This bug has been fixed.
  • When interacting with a student and “Asking A Task-Related Inquiry,” the student would stop talking to Ayano and walk away before their voice line had finished playing. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player pushed a student off the rooftop while that student was wearing a gym uniform, the dumpster wouldn’t properly register that a student had landed in it. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player ran up against certain walls in Ayano’s home, it was possible to “climb up” tiny pieces of geometry that the player shouldn’t be able to stand on. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player performed the sewing machine animation while using Shiromi’s “hands behind head” idle animation, the sewing animation would be screwed up. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player enabled the blood censor and then disabled the blood censor, the circular saw’s blood effects would be white instead of red. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player killed a bully, saved their game, then loaded that save, “speaking” visual effects would emit from the dead bully’s head. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player giggled to distract a delinquent away from their bento while they were eating, their bento would float in midair. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player placed a corpse into the freezer in the biology lab, saved, and then loaded that save, the corpse would vanish. This bug has been fixed.
  • It was possible to save during Mission Mode, even though this was completely unintentional – oops! This inadvertent functionality has been removed.
  • If the player chose hairstyle #7 for Senpai, his hair would not appear correctly during the “Senpai meets Amai” cutscene. This bug has been fixed.
  • On the title screen, if the player enabled the blood censor, blood would still be visible on the knife in Ayano’s hands. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player broke any glass in the Foreign Studies room, saved, then loaded that save, the glass would not be broken. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player approached Ryoba’s grandma from a very specific angle, it was possible to walk on top of her. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player saved and loaded while at school, the Warhammer in the Foreign Studies room would vanish. This bug has been fixed.
  • After the “tell a suitor what to say via an earpiece” minigame, a rival’s stockings would vanish. This bug has been fixed.
  • After the previous update, blood stopped being visible on weapons that had been used for murder. This bug has been fixed.
  • When loading into Ayano’s bedroom, Yanvania would be visible for a second on Ayano’s TV. This visual bug has been fixed.
  • At the end of some of Amai’s events, Senpai would stand still and never move again. This bug has been fixed.
  • One of the content creator plushies in the sewing room had a jacked-up texture. This bug has been fixed.
  • The TV in Ayano’s bedroom stopped displaying images. This bug has been fixed.

Okay, here it is!
https://youtube.com/watch?v=9MnkELeFyTg
Ayano can now play a hack-and-slash action game on her video game console at home! Why? It’s directly related to something that was added to the game exactly 365 days ago! I’ll explain…

Last year’s Halloween surprise was a cutscene which depicted Ayano exploring a cave underneath the cherry tree where girls confess to Senpai. In this cave, Ayano discovered a mysterious corpse impaled by a sword. Ayano inspected the sword, and found that it was capable of transforming between a sword form and a whip form. Immediately afterwards, she was confronted by Sakyu and Inkyu, who revealed themselves to be supernatural beings. The Basu Sisters explained that the mysterious corpse was their mother, that they planned to revive her, and that the sword in Ayano’s hands was one of the few weapons that could actually harm or kill supernatural creatures such as themselves. The cutscene ends with the implication that Ayano, Sakyu, and Inkyu are moments away from having a fight to the death.

So – if you were setting up a scenario in which your human protagonist is about to have a fight with two 238-year-old monsters, how would you put them on equal footing? How would you make your protagonist familiar with the concept of a transforming whip-sword, or give her a valid reason to have expertise in wielding such a weapon?

More importantly, if you’re developing a video game that does not have hack-and-slash combat in it, and you’re planning to throw the player into a hack-and-slash boss fight against two incredibly powerful opponents, how would you give the player an opportunity to become accustomed to the controls? How would you give the player a way to “practice” the gameplay before actually risking the protagonist’s life in a real boss fight?

The answer I came up with: Video games.

One of Ayano’s classmates at school aspires to become a game developer one day, and has developed a game prototype where the protagonist fights against waves of monsters using a transforming whip-sword. Ayano can take the prototype home and play on her game console, which establishes a plausible reason for Ayano to be comfortable wielding a whip-sword, and a way for the player to practice the gameplay that will be featured in the Basu Sister Boss Fight. (Or, “Basu Fight,” if you will.)

(Actually, for a long time now, I’ve been considering the idea that, immediately after Info-chan introduces herself to Ayano, she should purchase a VR headset and send it to Ayano’s house so that Ayano can rehearse various murder methods. Basically, this would let the player replay the “Kokona Tutorials.” If this feature actually does get added to the game, it would be the ideal platform for the whip sword minigame.)

The whip-sword minigame is bare bones, resembling a “grey box game prototype,” because…well, in-universe, that’s exactly what it is. The current implementation of the minigame isn’t a 100% accurate re-creation of exactly what the Basu Fight will be like, because its primary purpose is to give the player an opportunity to familiarize themself with the controls.

And, in case you’re thinking, “Wow, I hate the way this combat feels! If this is what the Basu Fight is going to feel like, I’m going to hate it!” please relax. The current implementation of the hack-and-slash minigame is merely the first prototype; it’ll be refined over time.

“YandereDev, I can’t believe you wasted your time building a stupid minigame instead of working on the rivals!”

Not so fast! Before you jump to any conclusions, take a moment to hear me out.

I knew that, in order to produce a meaningful addition to the game by October 31st, I’d have to sacrifice pretty much the entire month and do nothing but develop a minigame – which I did not wish to do. I understand that making progress on the rivals is more important than maintaining a silly holiday tradition. So, I was mentally preparing myself to give up and accept the fact that I wouldn’t be releasing anything interesting in Halloween…

…but, then, a miracle happened!

A long-time acquaintance of mine, AMZE, basically read my mind; he contacted me and directly said, “I bet it’s difficult for you to make time in your schedule to develop a Halloween minigame, so if you’d like, I can make one for you.” This was the ideal solution to my predicament! I told him what kind of minigame I wanted, and he got to work.

Well, I’m drastically simplifying the process for the sake of brevity; I was the designer/director, and he was the programmer. Instead of simply saying “make me a hack-and-slash game,” I described absolutely every detail of how I envisioned the gameplay – “The player should be able to cancel out of attack animations by dodge-rolling!” “The player should only be able to dodge-roll two consecutive times before running out of stamina!” “The hitbox of the enemy’s incoming attack should be represented by a red shape on the ground!” – and he implemented those mechanics exactly as I described them. He actually did a phenomenal, 10/10 job – I’m immensely satisfied with how the combat system turned out; it’s basically an exact 1-to-1 replica of what I imagined in my mind! He’s a miracle worker!

The one and only part of the combat system I’m not 100% satisfied with is the exact behavior of the camera when locked on to an enemy. Implementing a perfect lock-on system is particularly tricky and time-consuming, and there simply wasn’t enough time to make it feel AAA-quality before the Halloween deadline. I would say that, for this initial release of the combat system, you probably shouldn’t bother locking on to enemies (unless you’re trying to use your Ultimate). The current feeling of the lock-on system doesn’t represent what I want it to be like in the final version.

Currently, the hack-and-slash minigame only has three pieces of content to experience: Slow Enemies, Fast Enemies, and Flying Enemies. Once you’ve successfully survived a wave that has two Flying Enemies in it, you’ve experienced 100% of the content of the minigame, and you can basically just quit at that point.

Oh, but please don’t fight the two flying enemies and think you’re getting a 100% accurate preview of exactly what the Basu Fight will be like; the flying enemies were created to prototype the general concept of two flying enemies launching attacks at you, but the final implementation will be a lot different than the current implementation.

The actual Inkyu/Sakyu Boss Fight can’t be implemented until after I have a ton of animations for the various actions that the sisters will perform during the fight, the cutscene after the fight, etc. And, currently, my animator’s top priority is creating animations for Amai’s week, not creating animations for a supernatural boss fight that leads to an alternate ending. So, that just wasn’t a realistic goal for Halloween 2025.

…however…

If there is ever a point in time when I’m waiting for the voice actors to record lines, and my animator has no rival-related animations to work on…I’ll probably ask him to create some Sakyu/Inkyu animations. So, even though the long-awaited boss fight between Ayano and the Basu Sisters won’t happen this Halloween…it’s entirely possible that, one year from now, I’ll finally have all the assets I need to actually implement that fight as it appears in my mind.

Thank you for following the development of Yandere Simulator!

Not sure how Alex-related this new is, but rumor has it on r/osana that one of Yandere Simulator remaining sponsors, LacunaEclipsed, committed suicide after being harassed and receiving threats of doxxing for supporting the game.

She was also allegedly a close friend of Alex, so I'm wondering if we'll get a reaction from him.
Arghhhhhh, I am not in the mood to go through another batch of some gay drama.

After a brief look it seems that some female mod of Alex decided to prove that girls can do it too and "groomed" someone and after getting shit for that totally really for really reals killed herself even though the only source of that info was her friends and now they claim that she is in the hospital, but totally definitely tried to kill herself. And all of this lead to trashfire on r Osana with a ton of I AM LEAVING THIS COMMUNITY, since if they weren't a bunch of retards Alex would have been enjoying prison for years at this point.

Again, I am not in the mood, so someone else please comb through this.

Some claims about what happened.
Something about the victim.

Some claims about mod being abused by Alex or I don't fucking know, don't care.
Something about this mod using AI and lying, argh, I don't fucking care. It was remover by gay mods of the sub.

Gay response from the sub mods, basically "I don't know, but suicide is bad, don't make people do it", explains fuck all.

Response from her "friends", sounds fake as fuck, even rOsana tards are calling bullshit.

Ok, after talking with someone who was following this shitshow, yeah, it was a an absolute nothingburger. That mod suddenly went all 'I AM JILLING MYSELF" and her friends just blamed it on rOsana. Then during this the grooming allegations surfaced, so I think it was the real reason all along. And yeah, she is pretty much alive.

It seems that Lacuna is closer to Alex that it might've seemed. Firstly she was his THOUSAND BUCKS SUPPORTER, HOLY SHIT, IMAGINE PAYING THIS EVERY MONTH FOR THIS! But it seems that in February she finally ran out of money, just like Adolfin.

Means more for her, right? Yep, because it seems that she spent a lot of it on NSFW art of a schoolboy named Kenko. Though some Redditors claim it wasn't that bad, I wonder if it is bad enough now.

How NSFW it was you may ask? Welp...

November 15 update (archive)
EDIT: In the original release of this build, there was a bug that prevented the Settings option from appearing. Whoops! I updated the download link with a new version where this bug is fixed.

Hey, want to hear an interesting piece of trivia? This update is actually the 500th time I’ve released a new build since the launcher was released way back on July 13th, 2016! That’s a lot of updates!

This is *mainly* a bug-fixing build, but it does contain some new content that might interest you.

To read a list of everything that was added / changed / fixed / improved since the last build, scroll down past this incredible fan comic illustrated by tholiem!

Ahh!! The artwork is so beautiful!! I love it!!

Channel Terminations

Recently, several YouTube channels that regularly uploaded Yandere Simulator gameplay were terminated by YouTube. A lot of people reached out to me to let me know that this was happening, and asked me if there was anything I could do about it.

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do for those channels. I have no power over YouTube. If I actually had the ability to influence YouTube’s decisions or policies, it would be a much different website than it currently is. YouTube ignores any e-mail I send them. My concerns are invisible to YouTube.

So, what’s going on? Why were those channels terminated? Well, I might have a clue. Recently, YouTube announced that they would be increasing their restrictions on depictions of graphic violence.

The two most relevant statements in YouTube’s announcement are:

  • “…we will age-restrict […] video game content featuring realistic human characters that focuses on scenes of torture or scenes of mass violence against non-combatants.”
  • “If the violence is happening to a character that looks like a real human”
Even though Yandere Simulator is a stealth game where the player is discouraged from killing anyone aside from the main targets, it’s still possible to perform “mass violence” if you decide to indiscriminately slaughter every character in the game (which called a “Genocide Ending” or “Alphabet Killer Challenge” if you’re killing them in alphabetical order).

The channel terminations coincide with this announcement, which makes me suspect that the two events are correlated; this would mean that YouTube decided to terminate channels that featured gameplay footage of Genocide playthroughs / ABC Killer playthroughs.

YouTube’s post says that they’re only going to be cracking down on videos that focus on mass violence. So, in theory…if you upload a 15-minute video, and only 6 seconds of that video feature you murdering a rival, YouTube won’t take action against you. However, if you upload a recording of a full Genocide Playthrough, and 95% of the runtime of that video is mass murder, you’re probably going to receive a strike on your channel.

So, does this mean that nobody is allowed to upload footage of a Genocide playthrough or Alphabet Killer Challenge from now on? Is there anything I can actually do about this? Well…

If the problem is that Yandere Simulator videos are being deleted for “mass violence against characters who look like real humans,” then the only solution I can think of is to add a new censorship option to the game that makes the characters look non-human.

But, what kind of “non-human” appearance could I give them?

…well…

…what if I turned them into TV heads?

This might be your first time ever seeing the “TV head” aesthetic. I don’t know where it originated from, but I was first introduced to it by the music video for the Vocaloid song ECHO:

(God, such a good song…)

Humans don’t have television sets for heads. Humans don’t have TV static for bodies. And humans don’t have 6 arms. Therefore, the thing above is not a human. So, if you kill dozens of those things, you’re clearly not committing “mass violence against characters who look like real humans.”

Problem solved?

…well…

Look at the exact wording in YouTube’s announcement. If YouTube intends to punish anyone who posts “mass violence against non-combatants,” then I suppose it doesn’t matter whether they are human or not. If you kill a bunch of things that aren’t fighting back, YouTube is going to spank you.

There’s another angle here, too. Somebody claims to have appealed their channel termination and gotten this response from YouTube:

Wait. Is THAT what this is all about? YouTube incorrectly believes that the characters in Yandere Simulator are minors?

If Yandere Simulator channels are getting terminated for “violence in school settings involving minors,” then the deletions are definitely in error. The characters in the game are not minors; every character is 18 or older. This is stated in the game itself before the title screen has even appeared, and is also stated on the download page of the blog you’re reading right now.

“But, the characters in the game are wearing middle school uniforms!” Yeah, but that doesn’t mean the game is set in a middle school. Yandere Simulator is set in a post-high school academy, and there is lore to explain why the academy’s uniform resembles a middle-school uniform.

It’s possible that YouTube is relying on an AI to determine the ages of the people who appear in videos, and it’s possible that the AI is falsely identifying Yandere Simulator characters as minors because of their uniforms. For this reason, I decided that the “TV Heads” will have bodies that look like TV static. No school uniform = no misidentifying a character as a minor.

“But, Google’s AI overview says that the characters are under 18!” Well, fuck the AI overview, then. It’s been poisoned by misinformation it found on Reddit. I bent over backwards to write lore that establishes all of the characters as being 18 and over. I’m the creator of the game; what I say about the characters is fact, and supersedes gossip from Reddit. Bad AI! Stop spreading misinformation!

However, since YouTube’s AI probably won’t read this blog post, I can only think of one way to make sure that this information is guaranteed to be communicated to any AI reviewing the content of a YouTube video…

Permanently putting text onscreen that corrects the misinformation. It’s a goofy solution, but it’s the only one I can think of. Considering the circumstances, it feels like it has become a very unfortunate necessity.

So, problem solved for real this time?

…well…

A few days ago, a Yandere Simulator content creator uploaded a video about the Matchmaking Method – a completely pacifistic and non-lethal elimination method – and her video was deleted by YouTube. Want to know what rule the video violated? It was YouTube’s policy against “Violent extremist or criminal organizations.”

YouTube, are you fucking kidding me right now?

If YouTube’s AI believes that a Yandere Simulator matchmaking video with absolutely zero violence is “glorifying or promoting violent tragedies,” I have absolutely no idea what criteria the AI uses to determine if violence is occurring, nor do I know what I could possibly implement in-game to stop the AI from miscategorizing the content of Yandere Simulator.

I really wish that it was possible to have a direct one-one-one conversation with the higher-ups at YouTube about this, so that we could establish the best way to make sure that Yandere Simulator videos don’t get incorrectly flagged by YouTube’s new automated system. However, “Talk directly to YouTube” appears to be a privilege that is reserved only for the top 1% of elite YouTube creators. It is simply not an option that is open to me.

In short: I’ve given you the ability to make the game’s characters look completely non-human and communicate that the characters are not minors in a high school, in the hopes that it’ll permit you to resume uploading videos without violating YouTube’s new rules. However, we don’t know for sure if this will actually work, since YouTube seems to be punishing creators who have done nothing wrong, and doesn’t make it easy (or possible) to have a one-on-one conversation with them about this sort of thing.

Either way, I hope you enjoy the TV Head aesthetic.

New Voice Lines

Male kidnapped victims and male mind-broken slaves now have voice lines!

  • Complaining at 100% sanity – 5 lines
  • Complaining over 50% sanity – 5 lines
  • Complaining under 50% sanity – 5 lines
  • Complaining at 0% sanity – 5 lines
  • Mind-broken muttering – 5 lines
  • Being tortured for the first time – 1 line
  • Being tortured with sanity above 50% – 1 line
  • Being tortured with sanity below 50% – 1 line
  • “Kill…Kill…Kill…” – 1 line
That’s a total of 29 voice lines!

Improvements

  • Previously, there was no type of note that a “Dangerous” student would respond positively to. “Dangerous” students will now respond positively to a note about “Bullying,” “Fighting Evil,” or “Suspicious Activity.”
  • The “Whip Test” minigame has been updated so that, when the player is “locked on” to an enemy, the behavior of the camera is now closer to what I actually intended for it to be.
  • From now on, if a student is bullied, leaving a note in their locker saying “I want to discuss the topic of bullying with you” will always be successful.
  • When asking Saki about Amai’s social media, Saki’s dialogue is now voiced.

Fixes

  • Some players were reporting that Sumire’s missing poster was appearing during the 1980s Mode Tutorial (impossible, since she hadn’t gone missing yet). No matter how many times I tried, I was unable to replicate this bug. However, players kept reporting it. Very mysterious. Well, even though I couldn’t get the bug to happen in the first place, I’ve implemented some new code that should make it absolutely impossible for that poster to ever appear during the 1980s Mode Tutorial.
  • If the player splashed a student who was “Sleuthing” (walking around school and investigating students one-by-one), stole that student’s phone, and then giggled to distract them, the tudent would return to the “Sleuthing” routine instead of the “Search for lost phone” routine as they were supposed to. This is no longer possible.
  • If the player accepted a “Get headache medicine from nurse” quest and then electrocuted the nurse, the “Ask for medicine” prompt would still be active above the nurse’s head, and the player could interact with her and get medicine from her even though she was supposed to be dying from electrocution. This bug has been fixed.
  • Kidnapped victims in the basement were supposed to speak to the protagonist if the protagonist stood in their presence for more than 5 seconds. However, due to a bug, the “talk to protagonist” code wouldn’t run unless the protagonist entered the “torture” menu and then backed out of it. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player attempted to activate the China Dress easter egg after activating the Crush easter egg, or activate the Crush easter egg after activating the China Dress easter egg, the protagonist would attempt to wear both outfits simultaneously, and visual glitches would occur. This is no longer possible.
  • If the player entered the Yakuza beat-em-up minigame, lost, returned to school, and looked around school, numerous bugs would occur, such as students spinning in place and not being able to pathfind anymore, the protagonist holding objects incorrectly, etc. These bugs have been fixed.
  • If the player gossips to a rainbow student about one of their friends, the rainbow student is supposed to react negatively to the gossip. However, rainbow boys were reacting negatively to gossip about rainbow girls, which wasn’t part of the intended behavior. This bug has been fixed.
  • In the beat-em-up minigame, if an enemy began to perform an attack animation and then the player turned the camera away from that enemy, the enemy would freeze and not finish their animation until the player rotated the camera to look at them again. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player killed a student, saved the game, loaded the game, and looked at the dead student in Yandere Vision, the dead student’s outline would be green (the outline for friends) instead of orange (the outline for murder evidence). This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player stole a phone, switched from Ayano’s phone to the stolen phone, then used the “Provide Stolen Phone” prompt to give the phone to Info-chan, and then entered “aiming phone” mode, the phone’s texture would be incorrect. This bug has been fixed.
  • If body parts are present at school, the player is not supposed to be able to save. However, if the player put body parts inside of a cello case, saving would become possible, which would cause various bugs to happen. This is no longer possible.
  • If Raibaru triggered a bucket trap while running to distract a student, she would get caught between the “react to being splashed with water” and “distract student” states, and would freeze in place permanently. Thsi bug has been fixed.
  • If the player used the Skip prompt to skip the “Ayano interacts with her Senpai Shrine” cutscene, the cutscene would continue to play in the background during Ayano’s text message conversation with Info-chan. This bug has been fixed.
  • Nobody has been able to explain how, but, somehow, it was possible for a student to get out-of-bounds and be outside of the school map. I’ve added code that will teleport them back inside of school if they ever go out-of-bounds.
  • In the “Amai has been eliminated and Ayano is practicing cooking” cutscene, if the player skipped the cutscene, the props would continue to move as if the cutscene was still playing (floating in midair). This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player sedated more than three female students on the same day, one student would perform a “lying down” animation at a bench instead of performing a sitting animation on that bench. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player framed a male student for murder and then put him inside of the musical instrument case, the police would find him and arrest him, but would describe him as “she” and “her.” This bug has been fixed.
  • A player sent me their Custom Mode so I could fix a bug they were encountering. I never deleted some of their files, and so those files were being included in Custom Mode by default. Those files have been erased.
  • During the “student gets tranquilized from behind” animation, a student’s eyes are supposed to close. The female student’s eyes were closing, but the male student’s eyes were not. This bug has been fixed.
  • Because Ryoba’s dad sits really close to the “Go Outside” prompt, it was possible to speak to Ryoba’s dad and interact with the “Go Outside” prompt at the same time. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player used a stink bomb to disrupt Amai’s bake sale, all subsequent students to visit the bake sale would stand still and not eat any food. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player turned a member of the Newspaper Club into a mind-broken slave on Week 10, the game would give him a camera and “Sleuth” animations. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player pushed over a bookcase in the library, crawled under it, and stood up, the player would teleport into the guidance counselor’s room. This bug has been fixed.
  • When talking to Amai’s clubmates to learn about her social media, the subtitles would disappear before the characters were done talking. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player saved the game while wearing a cello case, the cello case would be floating in midair upon reloading the game. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player electrocuted a mind-broken slave while the slave was in the middle of killing a target, bugs would occur. This is no longer possible.
  • If the player put a note into Moeko’s locker in 1980s Mode, Moeko would react to the note with Amai’s voice. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player saved their game while a student was vomiting and then loaded that save, bugs would occur. This is no longer possible.
  • The 80s “Stage’s Closed” sign was not updated to use the new “Pool’s Closed” artwork. This oversight has been corrected.
  • Kenko’s voice lines did not play in the correct order, and one of them was missing. This bug has been fixed.
  • The Save/Load menu was not properly displaying the thumbnails for saved games. This bug has been fixed.
  • Himari’s hair was updated, but her portrait was not. This oversight has been corrected.
  • The “heat up knife with a blowtorch” feature stopped working. This bug has been fixed.

While I agree that many of youtubes policies are fucking stupid, you're trying to rules lawyer your way around a game that depicts middle schoolers being violently murdered. Saying "but the lore argues otherwise" is about as concrete as when a porn game goes "everyone here is over 18 years old and consenting, even if explicitly stated otherwise" and then lets you rape something that certainly looks like an unwilling child. Nobody cares what your excuse is, it doesn't pass the sniff test.

As a direct message to Alex, none of this is worth trying to fight or work around. Youtube, as stated, does not give two fucks about you or your project, and nothing you can do will make them care in a positive way. Any dev time spent 'addressing' this problem is wasted dev time.
