This is very savvy. People might not like this, but Trump is continuing to try and retain the moral high ground and not appear like he's trying to heartlessly starve anyone (...of the obese, entitled people who are in reality abusing the system).

I was getting worried about the game of PR these last couple of days, but Trump is trying to stay on top of this whole shutdown situation. He continues to shut down any way he and the GOP could be seen as the villains here.

As much as I would love for him to go full "FUCK YOU FAT, LAZY FUCKS. GET A DAMN JOB AND STOP BEING ADDICTED TO SUGAR!", I can respect realpolitik when it's necessary.

Just make caramels or taffy like a normal person. Candy corn is the most mid candy on the entire planet. It's not even bad it's just so forgettable as to be a waste of time.

As for the candy discussion, back before Celiac kicked my ass, the best were Kit Kats in the foil wrapper, Snickers, and Reese's Cups. Candy corn can be fine if seasonal, but only seasonal. You can get flavored candy corn, but it's all sugar and the beetus bait. I don't get Trick or Treaters, unfortunately, so I just got myself an Italian Torrone, specifically dark chocolate over Caffe nougat. Sorry guys, Italians might not be white, but they make damned good candy bars.
