How can they fuck up companions when they made Boone and Raul in FNV? They're supposed to be memorable and distinct.
The entirety of Fallout New Vegas was basically written by two guys neither of whom are still at Obsidian.

One quit to work on other projects and one was a #metoo casualty.

Speaking of New Vegas the dialogue between that one and these games is striking.

New Vegas dialogue - "Hold up there stranger some legion snakes have holed up in Nelson and I'm waiting for reinforcements."

Outer Worlds dialogue- wow yikesarooni there buddaaaaaay! There's some scawwy scawwwy monsters up ahead and unless you have some mondo fucktabular firepower you'll make poop from your butt! Oops did I say butt? I meant to say designated human waste disposal system! Please don't report me to my supervisor otherwise I'll lose .000001 cryptocredits and be subjected to the genital torturing machine!"

Becuase "They" didn't make Boone and Raul in FNV. Almost everyone at obsidian who made New Vegas has left the studio for greener pastures.

Considering Obsidians track record these past couple of years, I'm actually beginning to think that Josh Sawyer and Feargus Urquhart weren't nearly as integral to New Vegas's success as everyone hyped them out to be.

New Vegas was not written by just two guys. It had four main writers: John Gonzales, Chris Avellone, Eric Fenstermaker, and Travis Stout, with significant contributions from several other writers, the lead designer (Sawyer), and the area designers.

But it's true that all the main writers left Obsidian afterward. The company is still coasting on the accomplishments of people who haven't worked there in over a decade.

I've played a bit more. I wouldn't call it woke, but here are some elements you might consider woke.
Roughly half the guards, mooks and authority figures are female. No male bashing or smart female underling at least. Many visual minorities, as both heroes and villains.
Corporations and ultraliberarianism is mocked, but so is authoritarian communism. No racism.

Not quite, but each faction has its own speaking quirks. Nothing immersion breaking or OOC.
The corpo strivers use lots of $10 words, the maths cultists say numbers with unnaturally high precision. The authoritarians (think Best Korea or 1984) are careful not to say anything non-regime approved.

They've got ~20 of the 70 NV devs still there. Boyarsky and Cain directed it.
 
Either the explanation means prices in shop increased by 15%, or the designer was a retarded commie that can't do basic math, since it literally has no downsides besides any items that need to be purchased through dialogue rather than vendor (and even then it depends on whether selling items is the main source of income).

I assume it's them trying to have their cake and eat it too. They want the "premium" edition ripoff bucks, but they also want to maintain their pretense of being good anti-capitalist activists. So, they make a debuff that claims to criticize consumerism while actually still benefiting the consumer (because otherwise the whales wouldn't be happy about their purchase).

It's the same situation as the "I was only pretending to be retarded" comic where the takeaway is that it's irrelevant since you were, in fact, still being retarded. Likewise, they're saying "We were only pretending to be greedy capitalists" by charging way more for the premium edition that adds basically nothing of value, but the underlying behavior is still greedy capitalism.

(But, yea, it could totally just be that they're too dumb to write the description accurately and my assumption is wrong.)

You also forgot that there are zero white companions in the game, and that the main "villain" is constantly sucked off in textbook Mary Sue fashion as the most brilliant amazing super agent to ever live.

Funnily enough the NPC dialogue is bad but the player dialogue is WAY worse. Everything you can say is layered in Redditor sarcasm, like a comment you'd see with 40 updoots. Shit is insufferably bad.

Every character in this game is a snarky, sarcastic, cynical, condescending, passive aggressive, soy consuming golem. This is the first time i hate my own character in a video game, for being the biggest soy-Redditor of them all. No one in this universe acts like a normal person. Its kinda like Borderlands in that regard but even worse.
