The Outer Worlds 2 (discuss the first one here as well)

Look at the companions in The Outer Worlds 2, once again showing that diversity = not white. All anti-male gaze approved lesbians girlbosses with peg leg and butch hair. The Obsidian skin suits main priority was clearly to Concorded the fuck out of it. I will keep my wallet shut, the woke Obsidian skin suits will not get a dime from me.

The first game actually cucked me with this shit. I hated the ugly mystery mutt companions so I thought I'd solve that problem by putting helmets on all of them so I didn't have to look at their hideous le 56% faces.

Problem solved right? Wrong, turns out the game auto unequipped companion helmets during cutscenes and dialogue.

It did this even in situations where it wouldn't make sense like when you were on an airless moon.

And unlike Mass Effect you could not turn this off in the settings menu.

You will look at the ugly characters Stalker Gamer and you will enjoy it.

Downloading the game now. i never played the first game but from what i have heard so far, it more or less the same but even more woke. What builds are you guys doing?
Actually, the second game looks to play quite a bit differently than the first. For one, TOW had a more traditional skill system 1-150 much like in early Fallout games, with a perk every 2 levels. Now, it looks like TOW2 will copy Fallout 4 and Starfield where instead of skills you get "perk skills" that pull double duty as skills and perks, altho it seems you get multiple perks per level. Second, the only special ability in TOW was Time Dilation, that game's equivalence of VATS, and it looks like there are other gadgets you can use instead in TOW2 such as a Shield Generator, N-Ray Goggles which let you deal critical damage easier in battle(and act like Detective Vision from Arkham games outside of it), and possibly even a Jetpack.

Speaking of which, as for the last point the meta for combat seems to be different as well. In TOW, there is two entire skillsets that are not available as skills in TOW2: Blocking and Dodging. Former gives you increasingly deadlier counter attacks after a successful block as well as passive armor while you have a melee weapon out, perfect for tank builds. Latter is very important, as it is essentially the advanced movement of TOW, being able to bunny hop in the middle of the battle is useful for both ranged and melee builds, it also lets you travel quicker out in the overworld. TOW2 only has one new skill, Observation, which looks to open secret passageways and loot caches, my guess is that it will probably be useless down the line once the game is explored unless there is unique loot locked behind those checks. As for advanced movement, TOW2 introduces sliding in place of Dodge, or maybe that's there still but not as a skill, either way your movement isn't a skill anymore and instead you can only power it up thru a Trait you select at the start if you choose. This means that on average, every character in TOW2 will be able to butt slide well but few builds will actually excel at it. Meanwhile, dedicated niche builds in TOW can create some crazy synergies with Dodging/Blocking, something that looks to be impossible in TOW2.

Other than that, just make your build identical to your New Vegas/3 build and you should be fine, same general gameplay mechanics for the most part. Keep in mind that both TOW and TOW2 has dedicated Leadership builds, which means you can sit back and let your companions do the fighting for you. With this playstyle you stay in the background as your boosted up companions do the work, as raising Leadership skills inversely power up companions instead of your character(there is dedicated weapons to weakening your opponents as your companions wail at them, and in rare instances there is weapons that heal your companions instead, meaning there is also dedicated loot for this playstyle as well). Lastly, Science is an overpowered skill in TOW since it lets you cap all weapon upgrades to a certain cost(which is otherwise ridiculous at higher levels) and there is a special dedicated branch of weapons that use Science to determine it's usefulness instead of generic weapon skills, you can think of these as your Wonder Weapons of the game if you ever played COD Zombies as each of them has a unique effect not seen in any other weapon in the game. Science also determines effectiveness with two of the strongest weapons in the game, Spectrum Hammer and Spectrum Gatling, both of which can deal every single elemental damage in the game to create zero weaknesses within your arsenal. In other words, nerd builds aren't just viable in TOW, they're downright the most busted ones in the whole game, not sure if that's still viable in TOW2 but I doubt they removed Science Weapons from the game. Otherwise, just like Fallout, every other kind of build you can think of still works: Combat Boys, Diplomacy Boys, Stealth Boys ect. with all the same weapon classes(minus Unarmed in both games and grenades/mines in TOW, as they are now usable in TOW2).

For shits and giggles I will be using the same build for my first run as I am currently doing in Fallout, a melee/handgun combat build but with strong speech/leadership skills on the side. High STR/END/INT/CHR but low PER, LCK and AGL for a somewhat brutish playstyle that allows you to pass social skill checks easily as well. Surprisingly useful in Fallout, I guess we will see if that will carry over to Outer Worlds, I know secondary(ie non-lethal) skills are king in TOW if you just want to skip content and I am banking on that being the case in TOW2 as well.

don't think I've ever heard any character refer to me as any sort of pronoun, it's always just 'commander'.
This sounds lime a excellent way to save money by not paying the actors to say the lines twice.
Graphics are very 'noisy', like I'm playing it with a resolution of 480p and upscaling it to 4k or something, even though I have upscaling and frame gen turned off and all the settings at 'very high'.
is the game UE5? Because that engine has some of the worst problems i have seen like ghosting and AA making everything grainy and pixelated.

is ow1 anygood with mod (is it even moddable)? something to fill out the last 2/3rds of the game? Because i'm back on skyrim and the modders have done a nice job expanding the dark brotherhood with spliced and AI voice lines. OW1 needs some TLC to make it enjoyable after the first hub

There is very little in the way of mods, mostly just ways to mod weapons/armor in the way you aren't supposed to and ability to load into dev cells or add cut/unused items into your inventory for funsies. If you are looking for more content, then the official DLC is the way to go since arguably the best quests and loot in the game are there, as the DLCs are focused the stories in them are also better than most content in the base game.

It is straight up nonsensical, actually. 2077 has a world run by tyrannical corporations that still makes sense, Outer Worlds is just straight retarded cartoon shit.
I remember one of the DLCs had a corpo that was putting people in the food product they made and there was zero attempt at an explanation or justification for why they did this other than "le evil corpo does le evil thing."

just read a few pages back, bro.
if you play OW1 you'll have basically played OW2, that's it, that's how bland nu obisidian became, 51GB btw.

the mods are basic bitch shit too, you can't expect extremely moddable stuff from Urine Slopgine 4 and beyond, that's not possible because how it's built.

The corporations in Outer Worlds are so retarded it makes no sense how they even seized power in the first place. The whole setting is unbearably shallow. A bog standard evil empire would have been more compelling because at least then you would have had a competent villain to face.

They're so fucking retarded one of their few functioning space-going warships essential for keeping order is allowed to deteriorate from lack of maintenance time to the point the captain gets beyond fed up with how fucked his ship is and orders it set on a suicide course at full speed towards the capital city and the only issue his crew has with such an order is that they probably won't hit the target from how fucked the ship is.

I dunno, considering how the west is also collapsing right as we speak due to similar retardation, I can actually see that happening. Remember what I said, this is idiocracy more than anything else, so anything wrong happening in the setting can be narrowed down to "Well, they're morons and don't know any better". Best solution to an impending food crisis? Diet toothpaste. How will that save the workers from starvation? Nobody knows, everyone in the setting is a moron. Don't worry, the elites bought out all the food from the nearest solar systems so they have maybe a decade left before they starve, it's all good. Why aren't they working on a more long term solution to the problem? You guessed it! In that context, lack of proper maintenance is hardly unbelievable.

It's called a monopoly, look it up sometime. You don't need to be efficient or even successful if you're the only game in town.

I pirated this, played the intro for an hour and was just bored. Somehow they made the game worse than the first one. I wanted a refund.

Been playing a bit more. The Island atleast has my attention so far. I decided to try sneak past the Border-bridge to VOX and managed it. That was a pretty cool moment. now im just wondering if i should ignore the side quest thats suppose to "help me" into VOX or if i should go on my own. The white old man wants me to sabotage a fishing town but im wondering if its even worth it.

I understand it's the art style but I really dislike most of the environments looking like Dr Seus books.

I'm enjoying OW2, it might be Obsidian's best release yet and I say that as someone who did a T2W Vegas playthrough a few months back.

I've only done the Socks relay so far, but it far surpasses OW1 this point in the game. Skills and exploration unlock different paths and what I love is that it is they aren't always the best path. Take the night supervisor in the intro mission. You could bluff him into disabling the robot sentries, but he ends up hating you once you meet in person, leading to a much bigger fight.

Picking "Stupid" as a negative trait is hilarious and actually not that bad since you don't have enough skill points for everything. On the subject of humour, they've definitely turned down the wackiness, but kept the charm. Nothing immersion breaking but I'm always smiling.

Combat has been vastly improved and I must admit I've died multiple times on normal difficulty. Stealth is actually viable, there's grenades and gadgets to help you, not to mention bullet time helps you squeeze an extra moments to get by undetected. No stealth xp rewards, but still good.

The factions seem more indepth, and unlike FNV, there's far more morale ambiguity. I'm not too far into the game, so I can't be sure. The radios are a great touch. It was a good move only having one faction be a megacorp, and with the others being authoritarians and maths-worshippers The characters are believable, which is always good.

As for the companions, I'm actually glad they're unromancable, as it is a common problem for a game to take caring responses as romantic intent. If this was NuBioware, my gratitude for being rescued and concern for how my formerly optimistic rescuer handled being betrayed and mutilated by his idol and cut off from what he knew would have read as wanting to buck break.

Wokeness seems less than the original. One thing I hated about OW1 was time and again male leaders had a far more competent female underling, now it seems more balanced. The bosses of the first town in OW2, are a White male corpo and a female BlackIndian merc, both offer valid solutions to your problem.

I ahoy'ed it, as A$150 is obscene. I'll happily buy it when it is on sale. Shame Obsidian isn't independent of Microsoft.
For those just starting, I'd advice against "Brilliant" as 2 skill points becomes pretty much worthless as the game goes on. Innovative has come up multiple times, and gives you double crafting output (ammo, grenades etc).
I remember one of the DLCs had a corpo that was putting people in the food product they made and there was zero attempt at an explanation or justification for why they did this other than "le evil corpo does le evil thing."
Wasn't that just one manager who 'hunted' and kept the meat for himself.

Idiocracy isn't "realistic", fucktard, in any time in history the elite get so retarded they can't do basic shit, they are swiftly coup'd and killed and replaced by young, hungry smarter people.

its baffling that the backstory to the OW is that 75IQ Elites rule with an Iron fist when 10 retards could easily sweep their entire empire by just killing them, effortlessly so, that's why its nonsensical, even if everyone is retarded, that means the pampered elite retards are EASILY killed by the angry, violent hungry retards, as has been the case since time immemorial.

They all look extremely forgettable, like they're generic NPCs you can hire to be permadeath meat shields instead of proper companions or party members. H

How can they fuck up companions when they made Boone and Raul in FNV? They're supposed to be memorable and distinct.

Being POZZED isn't an excuse either because Baldur's Gate 3 is an extremely POZZED game full of gay shit and yet the companions are all still memorable! Like I can at least remember what the vampire guy looked like and how he acts.

This is just genuinely shit character design.

being pozzed is the reason, while it isn't always the reason, its always the vector.
being progressive and in progressive spaces in the west especially means toxic positivity, no one is allowed to tear into someone's work, no one is allowed to say "maybe the Troons and Pooners shouldn't be in the writing room if all they are going to do is write about Troon and Pooner stuff?"

BG3 was made by Foreigners who aren't as filled with the same kind of progressives yet, they are just general liberals and so they think Gay shit is cool, ect.
in the West, we've moved way past that and now everything has been saturated by these losers, and so these are the results.
