I’ve been joking a lot about this, but I do agree with Null that the decorum of this thread can be somewhat distasteful to the uninitiated.

Every few months some thread tourist will roll through and castigate everyone for laughing at the childhood rape of destiny, and lament that the thread would be more effective if we weren’t so, shall we say, unhinged.

Granted, that may be true. But it’s an essential quality of a good a logger that they’re a bit unhinged. What characteristics would you ascribe to someone who catalogues volumes of information about a minor internet celeb that they hate? Or someone who spends days combing through every street of a city in google maps in search of damaging information about someone they dislike? Or someone who has written tens of thousands of words psychoanalyzing someone they don’t know?

While you might ascribe some negative characteristic to them (you probably should), I think the one unifying quality of the thread posters is simple - we’re all having a good time here. Everyone in here is just doing it for the love of the game. No one in here is under the same spell as DGG, trying to convince themselves that they’re saving the republic by posting online.

It helps that Destiny is a uniquely repulsive figure. He inspires hate for so many disparate reasons.
