Tonight I'm being forced to share a station with a pooner 🙄

She and I have already butted heads, basically upon introduction. My sous says he kind of expected that since we "have a very similar vibe". Kind of fucking insulting but I pressed further and to paraphrase he said it's because we both have an autistic approach to optimizing our work and a no non-sense attitude while on the clock. My sous does recognize though that she's an insane person we have to tolerate because business, plus my understanding is she's great at her job. He's asked me to take a secondary role, partially due to seniority, and take what I can from her approach+do my best to mend things but no real pressure there. I mean I can be the bigger man, though that does mean eating shit in regards to my ego, but what else does manning up mean? It'd be really neat if I can find common ground with her to some extent, I like my job but not enough to avoid crashing out if overly disrespected, especially by some weird tranny larping as me. I'm not overly aggro with pooners but I've realized how women feel about troons wearing "woman face" and none of these little bitch-niggas really understand that fucking speaking to me like that might result in me throwing hands 😤

It's not that bad, last I heard you were a faggot yourself so maybe you two could make out. Also nigga why are you even writing about this like your elliot rodger being forces to talk to a women? A tranny is a tranny but nigga they aren't aliens. Just retarded degenerates.

It ain't worth being a Foodservice manager. If youre able to, stay as a supervisor. Much less headache, better hours.
>Taking a salaried position with 20+ OT hours per week
Yeah, I would absolutely never. I've known multiple managers that would make less than our best servers while doing 2 or 3 times the actual work

Friend of a friend is currently being pushed to the breaking point with overtime cuz he joined a cafe just as they opened. He's back of house. The first few days he's been pulling shifts nearly all day.

It sounds incredibly rough but it also feels pretty understandble since a lot of people quit the training so they opened shorthanded.

I got a secondary job as a delivery driver for pizza and it's kind of the shit. My manager is my bro who I know from a hobby up here and I've only been working for 3 weeks and already have a good schedule. Its also super easy and gives good tips. Here, we get (minimum) wage, plus tips, plus mileage. My best tip so far is 12 bucks on an order and it was a cash tip.

Last night I delivered to an overly melanated man at midnight though who didn't tip at all and I heard his smoke alarm beep. Broke ass could afford the dessert but not to tip. I saw the name so I knew to expect as such though.

Shoot, I make less than pretty much all the other managers here yet only me and two others are the only ones that care about quality and making sure everything runs smoothly.

I'm out of the game, but I have a cooking demo coming up for some teenagers. We're making a simple Mac n cheese. Should I measure out an extra set of portions for rue, in case someone burns theirs? Also, do you think two groups on a stove is too many? I only have two stove tops to work with. This is my first demo. We're starting with a bechamel, and working up from there, because it's such a versatile sauce.

Much love to my brothers and sisters still in the trenches. Cooking is a young man's game, and I'm too old for that shit, unless I scooped a cushy daytime prep job. I like having holidays and Saturday nights off.

I'd say yes on the extra set of portions cause anything can happen when teaching culinary.

How large are the groups? 3 people? 4 people?

I used to work in the industry. I worked at a relatively nicer restaurant. Not nice enough to have a dress code but nice enough to have table cloths and fancy water glasses. The worst was always the older people. They’d make you work your ass off then tip you $2 on a $40 meal, stingy fucks.
Did meet some really cool people though. One time a guy got mad about his biscuits (I fucked up and didn’t realize on order of biscuits was supposed to be two biscuits) but he was really cool about it and opened up about how he was in the area because he was having issues with his wife and came for a break. I think he left me like a $10 tip (which was really good for the breakfast shift).

Four groups between four and five people. I'm not positive how many are coming, but I don't think there will be above twenty kids. I only have about an hour with them, so I'm still figuring out what mise I should do ahead of time. I need to go buy some cheap graters and measures from Dollar Tree, tomorrow.

I would assume getting the water to boil for the macaroni would take the longest time.
And yeah, Dollar Tree is a Godsend for that sort of stuff

A thread for those of us in the fake smile trenches.
Fake smile veteran here (3 years of service) before becoming a fake smile back end specialist (kitchen),

Recently lost a good gig due to a bipolar individual crashing out (literal bipolar, as in diagnosed), I won't name nor allude to his/her physical features due to own peace of mind. Told him/her to go home due to looking/sounding and generally them openly saying they feel like shit, as their condition requires free days on a whim to calm down and cope. Basically I put a bad piece of bread aside because it did not turn out right, she/he accused me of trying to hide it (implying I'd steal it, which is against company policy) (also went from 0 to 100 on friendly fire), told her (with 3 more orders I've been preparing mind you during rush hour) I do not appreciate her implying I'd throw it away or eat it without reporting it before hand, as that is criminal. Somehow she though I was saying she is a criminal and that I'd sue her??? (fucking what?). Then called the boss who was FUMING at me because he was under the impression I am about to sue anyone? (I wouldn't??? Everybody was nice generally including the BPD person despite the condition)

She'd/he'd be incredibly verbally mean to staff (including me) without them doing anything, so had to do a "sit with me for a bit" when people got offended or scared to explain depression, hypo-mania, mania and baseline mood, saying it's not personal they can't control it. Still got "let go" instead of fired so the boss can form a new team and so I don't have a "fired" on my resume, which is neat I suppose.

Thankfully he did provide a commendation, offered to take me back in the future and told good things to my current employer so I got another job fairly quickly.

I'd have got on unemployment and done under the table work for a while lol. That's some literally insane shit to have to deal with from a co-worker. Worst I had to deal with was a nigro so constantly tweaked out he was worse than useless, was actively fucking shit up. I knew I was going to be dealing with a complete retard when the pavement ape showed up to work fry wearing Jordans, was not prepared for a pavement ape on meth though

Ugh.
First, and only time, I worked BOH in a restaurant there was this one homeless/living in his car/squatting guy they hired who would wear his weed vape around his neck like a necklace. Couldn’t understand basic instructions, showed up to work on meth multiple times and even then that wasn’t why he got fired. There’s at least one of them everywhere

It’s surprising how common hard drugs are in the food and restaurant industry. Went out to eat the other night as part of a celebration, caught someone from the kitchen in the bathroom and bro was definitely tweeking
The rationale is that they want to stay up longer and get overtime. Sometime is as simple as addiction. Not something I'd do but defo some people do it.

Coffee and sleep is enough 9/10 of the time. Unless you're doing a double shift no break for a month, which is slavery.
