I remember seeing Noah Samsen in an RRL baseball hat that costs over a hundred dollars to complement his larp as a folksy man of the people, or as ironic chudcore, or... justify it however, but ultimately it's a baseball hat that costs over a hundred dollars.
They dress in the 'uniform' of the common man to communicate "look, I am one of you. I have your interests and experiences. We are a coalition, and you should champion me because I can be trusted", while the price tag is the uniform of the socialite to communicate "I am not one of those ignorant rubes who fall for our tricks, I am of means and connection. I wear their skin, but I am one of you". Historically speaking this is a successful strategy, because Men of the People are some of the most prolific leaders in history, and this is a really easy way to achieve that without ever having been of the people.
There are, however, two issues. Firstly, almost all normal people immediately recognize the latter as an implicit threat, because they're trying to infiltrate normal society while countersignaling their allegiance to wealth and power, and the fact that it's a secret message not meant for their eyes means their intentions are not in the favor of the people. This is fundamentally what the term 'wolf in sheep's clothing' refers to, before trannies became a much much more direct example.
Secondly, the Internet exists, and everyone can google what a particular shirt costs. Leftist propaganda has struggled to adapt to the internet in general, because information besides their curated data being available is their silver bullet, but that particular trick is especially damaged because the number is not up to interpretation or susceptible to massaging of the truth. If a shirt is 300 dollars, it's 300 dollars, and it makes whoever's wearing it looks like a fucking disingenuous piece of shit, and there's no way they can talk their way around that barring brute-force and the implication of violence (which is what Hasan does whenever it comes up).
