Spot training in its own sounds fucking sociopathic.
Your dog is not meant to stay in a specific spot for show for hours on end.
Its an animal, not furniture.

Spot training is useful for some instances, like a service dog when it's not fully off-duty but its owner doesn't need it immediately, like a psychiatric service dog chilling while its owner is in school and isn't having an anxiety attack.
There's ZERO good reason for Hasan's dog to stay in place for hours on end, she's not a service dog waiting for him to break down mentally before she steps in and helps him get grounded. She's just a medal of prestige, a trophy and just like everything in his streaming room that's in-frame she serves as a way to hook his audience and make him seem likeable at a glance.

From what I've gathered from professional trainers throughout this whole thing in this thread and elsewhere, is that spot/place training is a thing and can be useful for giving a dog a safe and calm place to go to TEMPORARILY. For example, to stop a dog from jumping on guests, or in stressful situations to give the dog a place of it's own to take refuge. It shouldn't be used for that long, though.

to add to this i have known some people who use spot training to get the dog to associate their crate as their home so that when its time for bed they will just go right to the crate and sleep.

the problem with spot training however is its not something everyone should be doing and i would personally argue that there are better methods to train large dogs especially. i would actually be really worried about training a large dog to be so sedentary you usually want them to be as mobile as possible for joint health.

i wonder if hasan even bothers playing with kaya. i know he lets her hang around other dogs when he works out in the morning but that seems to be about it.

We did this with one of my dogs.

She was strong, dumb as a brick, had bad eyesight, and loved to jump onto people. So when we had a guest, we trained it to stay in its place until it calmed down a bit.
Otherwise, it would jump all over them and likely piss on them with excitement.

However, we are not talking hours a day here, and not a tiny little place with nothing else.
