The ironic thing is that if any of these blind fools ever stopped to look at themselves and examine their own mind they'd see just how fucked up they really are. The root of their suffering lies solely in the failure to confront whatever personal issues they may have. To place blame otherwise is wildly unhealthy.
Indeed by their desire for the suffering of others it is they who are utterly destroyed. 95% of political discourse among these people can be chalked up to piss poor mental hygiene, the unabashed projection of their own insecurities, and social media algorithms showing them exactly what they want to see.
What an utterly depressing bunch.

The wisdom of the Enlightened One is as applicable today as it was 2400 years ago. Some people make a big show of reading Meditations, but many of the ancients saw similar spirals of retardation play out in their own time, and they spent a lot of time thinking about why it happened and how best to prevent it. People in the MAGA cult are not interested in that message, of course, because they are driven entirely by anger and spite, and extinguishing that fire would leave them with nothing.
(They are also extremely stupid and don't read anyway, not even The Art of the Deal).

I had a neighbor who was an alter boy at a Catholic church and went through it. It destroyed him for life. Not just because he went through it, but the Monseigneur at the church covered it up and sent the priest back to the church he was transferred from for being a pedo, but in an administrative role. The boy's dad blamed HIM and his mother only said she was sorry on her death bed. He did several interviews about it before he passed away from cancer. That scandal even made my mother, a formerly staunch Catholic, lose her faith. (Mine was already lapsed...organized religion is yuck to me.)

I remember a bishop who once told me that as he was driving down the road, some random bystander spat on his car. When even the higher-ups of your faith can't escape the scorn of the public, you've lost the plot.
There's a reason why the Church is suspiciously leaning on the hippie "love the sinner" stuff instead of going full tradcon and going fire and brimstone against all sinners. It's the only way forward for them, to offer forgiveness and peace to those with troubled minds and hearts. They know they fucked up, so they have to give the fuck-ups of the world a second chance, because that is their company.
But what's even worse is the fact that the Evangelicals still go full fire and brimstone despite having more sex abuse cases than the Catholics do. They try to claim the moral high ground and condemn everyone below them, when they too have fucked up horribly and are losing the public. They claim to be followers of the law and protectors of the public as their ICE agents separate families and their dear leader hands out tax benefits to the rich while the poor starve. Add to that the same sex abuse problems that nearly destroyed the Catholic leadership in the 2000s, and you've got a perfect storm about to explode upon the Evangelical Trumpian Right in America.

There was a kindly priest who used to wait on my lawn with a little boy in the neighborhood for the the bus in the midst of it. I felt sorry for him because I could only imagine what he was going through and would always go out and talk to him without mentioning "all that." It isn't all of the individuals that are involved that are the problem, it's the institutions that enable the problem from the top down.
So, on topic, it's the same with the current Federal government.

Sexual abuse as a child is going to mess you up big time no matter what, and sexual abuse by a trusted member of the clergy of your religion combined with an unwillingness to address the problem is enough to fuck up anybody. Do you know how depraved it is to molest a child in Confession?

The fact is, Trump's side is so full of corruption that they will experience the same loss of respect and authority that certain religious institutions felt in the 2000s. But unlike Catholicism which somehow recovered a bit of the respect they once had, Trump and his Right will lose hard and will never be able to rebuild once they fall.
