Why is having less people to compete with resources/time/jobs/commute-throughput/etc a bad thing in all cases? Instead of maximizing QoL for those that do exist already? if artificially extending the lifespan of people who cannot function on their own is the goal, then have at it. I would prefer to see a world where people are encouraged and expected to maintain their physicality as long as they can or expect to be left in a disadvantaged position. Call me an asshole but I've always hated the "but the old people" argument. We wasted years on this for Covid and it only accomplished permanent loss of life quality for the entire nation/world.
