Reorganization of September 29th, 2025

I'm happy we have the scroll arrows back. Dunno if it was a theme issue, but I didn't have them.

I can help with the Hispanic board if you need, Null. Don't post much there, but I'll give it a check.
Can I ask why? The scroll bar, middle mouse, and quick swipes on the phone make them redundant and add visual clutter. A toggle would be nice.

And I came to this site to mock Byuu and later Moviebob and Razorfist. I'm still here because there will always be retards online to mock.

Off-topic boards on forums with a specific purpose always felt like dead weight and were made out of obligation in a time where the internet was much smaller.
The forum should always be dedicated to lolcows, but letting members talk about other things in the off topic area doesn't hurt anything. The off topic forums are fairly active which is the opposite of dead weight.

Null I'm having trouble seeing my "your content" section and i consider this inconvenience one of the worst things to happen in my life. If you don't fix it I will make several threads and reddit posts about how you're a heckin fascist for not considering my autism.

I would appreciate a central archive of previously featured posts and sidebar content. There have been several occasions when I’ve tried to find an old feature and I have to spend a long time sifting through search results. Ignore me if this already exists and I’m just retarded.

DSP is nowhere near interesting enough, nor does he do anything interesting enough to warrant his own subforum still. Unless it's more of a containment zone.

A way to mark a thread as unread would be nice. I end up using "First Unread" as kind of a bookmark but that sometimes gets messed up when I check out a community feature or if I want to reread or just more thoroughly read a thread I've skimmed through earlier.
Alternatively, having a new bookmark in a thread delete an older bookmark in the same thread. I know I can manage that manually, but I would like some functionality that makes it easier to pick up where I left off.
Thanks for all you do Jersh!

Thread have you noticed the Active Threads box in the right sidebar starts every link with "Thread " and then the title?
Thread I don't know if it's intentional, but it has always kinda bugged me.
Thread Maybe now it will bug you, too.

does anyone use these boxes on the side / mobile bottom?
Yes.

I also used the navigation links in the footer before those got hosed and had to scroll back to the top of the page, but it looks like that may have already been repaired in some places.

Padding the footer enough that the "Next Highlight" anchor will always be at the top of the page would also be a nice change.

Also, I will occasionally try to refresh the New posts page, but since the New posts link in the header redirects to a static page, it just refreshes the static page rather than giving me the current New posts. Then I have to scroll all the way to the top to reclick the header New posts link.

Última edición:
yeah the trending box is goat but i dont know if the new stuff boxes do anything for anyone.
I do look at threads in that though, honestly, it should probably display threads primarily from the Proving Grounds. The Proving Grounds should have their own dedicated New Thread box that sucks your dick when it empties.

Also, horrific idea: International Hindi/PooEnglish Indian subboard called The Loo. Only forum that allows guest posting. It'd be a good April Fool's.

  1. When you are fixing search add ML indexing using free BERT model. This is an example if you're interested: <https://www.kaggle.com/code/yatinec...rt/notebook#First-download-a-pretrained-model>. You just use a free pre-trained model to classify the query and the data that's been indexed, and then use Cosine Similarity to rank results. This is the most important thing I can think of. It can be difficult to find threads from search currently.
look bro I'm not rewriting the entire search function for xf which has us license banned.

can this be enabled with near zero effort on an existing elastisearch instance?

I like using them to know what threads are most active currently, but they are annoying because they always take you to the first page of the thread rather than letting you pick up where you left off last time.

I edited the 'Active threads' area so that it does not include author information, only includes the thread title, links to /unread instead of the OP, and is expanded to include 5 more threads.
