Reorganization of September 29th, 2025

Just the other day Jersh was praising Apple for having the whitest board of directors in tech, and now he decides to go the minimalism treatment with the front page. Is it possible this will happen next?

Despite this, people were asking about the job of being a moderator, and people wanted to help, including @GreaterHacaryguaspear who offered to help janny. This also included @TreatedSilk04, who offered to help translate some of the existing Spanish OPs to English OPs, to help garner interest about the Internationale Clique board and to help gain an understanding to English speaking audiences.
Not only me, but @LolcowsESL is another candidate. So is important make the poll to everyone votes the moderator. The reason to both candidates (me and LolcowESL) is not just the years here in the farms but the facts:
  • Creation and helping to make info of the lolcows
  • Activity in the farms
  • Good threads and some good recomendations
  • Discovering new lolcows or create threads in Lolcow of History
  • Good English skills

My suggestion is to also have like an option for a “frequent prefix” thing so people can quickly pick out frequently used prefixes.
Persistent prefixes would be cool, too. Like, a user can always see Communities but never see Animal Control until they change it

Edit: that tiled prefixes filter that @Asian tech support suggested would work really well with this.

Everybody including me dijo:
I hate all change
It's fine for now I guess. Trust the plan, even if it was thunk up & enacted by a know-it-all FUCKING NIGGER.

I was not too keen on the idea like everybody else but I am a good little niggercattle goy and actually like how the nu tags look now. Feels sovlfull.
Though I would suggest what this guy said to make it easier to use (the goal of this whole thing anyways I assume)
Instead of the filters being selected from the dropdown or clicking the tag, what if at the top of the thread underneath the sub-boards, there was a tiled selection of all the major tags, basically all the old boards? The only reason I bring this up is that its become apparent just how few people knew you could filter by tag by clicking the tag and I doubt anyone uses the dropdown.

edit: basically something like this

I guess to throw in my two cents, I think the changes being mostly for guests and new users is a positive. As ever since the change that put followed threads at the top of the Home Page for logged in users, that's been my way of visiting threads I actively like to visit. So making the rest of the homepage focused on discoverability and easier to find new things, I think that will help with the issues Null often talks about where he wishes more people crossed thread lines and visit other threads they may not have seen normally (which was also the purpose of the Community Features being at the top always).

I don't really see much of a negative in my view for the changes, but I also am not on as often as most others I imagine who are more used to the layout of old.

Can we have Grift Wars separated again please? @Null

Sure they are lolcows but different than just internet famous

actually, it is. Anyone blue date & above has a 2% voting share on all major decisions

Tbh I'm retarded and have no idea what the date colors mean, I've been mostly lurking since I joined. However, I will say that this website is the most well-constructed, modern, and user friendly forum I have ever browsed so I'll defer to the decision making of whoever's in charge; I'm not retarded and I can get whatever usability I want out of the website on my own.

Excellent. I really like this new organization and find everything much easier to find. I never used the front page to browse for the exact reasons you laid out - the distinctions weren't very clear to me. If I was looking for anything in specific I just searched because I'd never remember who was under which board, and if I was just browsing I'd check new posts because they crossed all boards. But this is better because I can specifically browse lolcow-related threads in one place without getting derailed by super-active stuff in autistic thunderdome or whatever. Good stuff.

I am sure people will mindlessly recoil at the thought of "make it more like TikTok", but the UX of this website is not good for acquiring or retaining new users.
Counterpoint: I don’t want to fucking interact with children who become frightened at a paragraph’s worth of text. People interact with 4ch just fine. The farms could use some organization, sure, but pandering to the lowest common denominator by metaphorically jingling the keys in front of them with flashy text and images is almost as fucking retarded as they are.
