This one again is a question of interpretation. Naysayers mad about replacing the grass with a patio. Trump by contrast said it sucked ass because the rose garden speeches meant all the dignatieres had to stand up too their ankles in the marshy DC dirt if was wet, and the space couldn't be used for any sort of social function otherwise.

He also redid the Oval Office. The man likes Gold.

In general it speaks too his style. Trump wants the white house too not just be an office building, but a social event space that he can use to entertain and impress guests. This is often a facet of the Presidency that gets overlooked. The more ceremonial "head of state" functions.

Some of it obviously grates on more modest revolutionary egalitarian nerves.

This is nice, i was sad that the era of powerful leaders building cool shit was over and instead a never ending stream of post-modern faggotry and niggershit, glad to see the golden drip is returning, hope he makes a huge ass statue or catedral too.

I know people jab back and forth about rewriting history, but it quite literally is rewriting history to attempt to just wipe out and pretend shit never happened, or selectively edit elements of the past to sate todays standards. It's astonishing how whitewashed (at least on the Indian side) Wounded Knee has become over the centuries. It went from the Indians refusing to turn over their weapons and instigating an attack, convinced their magic Injun shirts would shield them from the soldiers' bullets, to evil white colonists butchering innocent natives (including burning down the teepees with the Indians still inside, according to BioShock Infinite).

Eras come and go. That includes the fake and gay ones. What is old is new again. Fitting that Trump is going to be hosting the 250 year anniversary while renovating the White House. Signifies an era of renewal.
