20 years is a long time, the show is going to change dramatically from what it originally was. Matt and Trey are probably the only people still working on South Park from its early seasons.

They made South Park when they were just starting out, meaning they took a shit deal like many first time creators.
Most of us are ignoring the show. It's only interesting in that they are indirectly involved in a recent high profile assassination of a public figure. South Park itself is just boring and pointless and not worthy of attention. But the behind the scenes of South Park and the financial debt that they are in is more fascinating than anything that they've done in years (decades even).
That's the point. No one forced anyone to watch the first ten seasons. People watched them on their own because they were quality episodes. Now the show is a shell of itself and not really engaging or funny anymore. It's on autopilot and uninspired. It's like Game of Thrones destroying its legacy in real time and watching the creators throw messy public tantrums at the fans and being able to laugh at them.
They literally made a documentary on how dedicated they are to hitting their deadlines...

I haven't watched Comedy Central in years. Now that they don't have the rights to either Futurama or Family Guy re runs what do they even have other than South Park?
Typical Redditfag logic. Shows do not have to run until they alienate their audiences and/or become bad. Movies and games do not have to continue to make endless sequels until they do the same. People get (rightfully) pissed off when the local gay skinwalker starts wearing the face of a beloved childhood friend and starts yodelling while masturbating in the park.
Confusing networks. CC only recently got the rights to Family Guy for the very first time while Adult Swim reacquired both Futurama and Family Guy.
I can tell, because they air both, regularly.
It's even worse than that on reddit. You can't even talk about South Park anymore on their official reddit. Every thread is locked down since the shooting. Half of the threads have every single post being moderated and approved before becoming public. The current thread announcing the delay of the latest episode has zero posts and is completely shut down. They only allow safe milquetoast posts like "look at the new South Park toy I got!!!".
Most of us are not really upset. At least it's the show's own creators ruining their legacy. It's not like Tolkien (Token?) or Lovecraft where their works are being overloaded with nigger and fag characters by danger haired lunatics and troons. Stone and Parker are doing this to themselves to their own works. The only question is how low will they sink before being done.
I know that being surrounded by lolcows might have you thinking that it's otherwise, but this is not an accomplishment that deserves praise, this is the bare minimum.
