It's pretty hypocritical, and just because they do it doesn't mean we should. Again, we should all be shocked and outraged that he was killed for simply speaking, but giving him the rights that an elected member of the public gets (when they get assassinated) simply because you agree with their politics is stupid. I push back against it from the right AND the left.
That's what I am trying to push back. I think that if we got the evangelicals and the boomers to shut the fuck up, then more people would agree with many of the right's viewpoints. I never liked Kirk because I found him too religious/preachy. But I did agree with some/most of what he said. I frankly don't like people who tie Americanism to the bible. The man was definitely knowledgeable, and his heart was 100% in the right place, but church and state should never mix; it will turn people off and make your views, regardless of how right they might be, seem like a cover for your religious preachings.
